Copy from CC of Red Rose Miku interview Sept. 14, 2017: At the band forming nobody in our Band had done "Hard Rock" so we had started without knowing anything. We have grown greatly musically as a Band.
I WAS a firm believer in the notion that whatever Band-Maid song I'm currently listening to is my favorite. But after hearing this fucking MASTERPIECE, I can now say I have A favorite Band-Maid song. I have to see them live. I'd probably give both nuts to do so, but definitely one of them.
I like the bit from the tenth Doctor's "Blink" episode. Band-Maid are not Weeping Angels, but you still should not blink when you are watching them, because you might miss something.
Ryan, you have to do the live version. As we have become used to it's even better than the studio version. Miku's chorus is so cute that I fell in love with her again for the 101th time
Yep, Miku's head tilting is as heart-melting as Mincho's solo! No matter how many times I watched, the Zepp live of this song still had my heart throbbing.

One of the most enjoyable Kanami solos in this one for sure
that feeling of geniunily missing out when you realise why didnt i listen to this? its real!^^ u nailed that when you said it out loud one of the only bands i feel like that with
I always felt like I had heard it somewhere and then I realized.Kanami’s solo from 4:57 to 5:02 is the similar as Deep Purple Highway star John Lord KEYBOARD’s solo (2: 14-2: 26) Mincho is a genius!
Another one of the Band-Maid songs that sounds familiar yet an original. Brings me back to a time when there was straight up rock and roll. Band-Maid is the modern Aerosmith.
Riz, you raised an interesting point. There is one reviewer who would say l have heard this riff before and would search that band and then play the riff that was supposed to be one that Band-Maid "borrowed". And yet after doing it three times he had to admit no, l guess it isn't quite the same. The band has the ability to make themselves sound familiar yet completely different. Regards.
After all these years I finally figured out what makes *BAND-MAID* great besides the Awesome Musicians, the *two-lead vocalist* that can harmonize and play off on each other vocals I don’t ever recall or know any other band that has this. 😊 _(After this reaction I had to check out the live version)_
I always enjoy watching your reaction videos. Could you please react to a live version of this song?🙏The 2018 ZEPP TOKYO concert is one of my favorites.
That gif must be your brain exploding. Probably one of my top songs from them. The live version at Zepp Tokyo for this song is even better with Misa and Kanami part.
That was great!. One of my many favourites. A beautiful way to start the year. The live version they played in 2018 Zepp Tokyo it´s really exciting, Mincho nailing the solo and Akane and MISA sounding like an Amtrak locomotive in a hurry. Thank you sir!

Ryan! Greetings on a rainy Sunday! I had to come back to that particular reaction of yours because some good new reactors are discovering that song. That said, that reaction of yours is the best (no, I am not flattering you)! THEY MUST ABSOLUTELY PLAY THAT SONG IN THEIR US TOUR CONCERTS! I'll tell you what, here is a simple idea for your next T-Shirt: the five of them with BAND MAID and "Turn Me on" below!! Best regards, Robert-Gilles
Glad you got to this one! As someone in a "World Domination" album review said: "They are currently in 'Walking-away-from-an-explosion' levels of epicness." Also loved your new Mear-ism: "You are an impossibly hard rocking, 5 piece, all-female Japanese rock band formed in 2013!!!" hahahah You should say that to them if you get to do a meet and greet.
Good stuff as usual. There's a nice fan cam of this song and 'Don't You Tell Me', being played back to back. If you watch that at a high enough volume then that .gif of Alanis Morissette, as God exploding heads, really will be applicable. 🤯 🕊
That's my favourite song of the album. Along with Play, Domination, Daydreaming, Dice and all the others lol. Their arrangements on this album are unreal. But these are just the baseline arrangements, on stage they add more bits and pieces and take them to another level.
Ryan...that opening riff is probably my favourite Band-Maid openings...also I really love the harmonies by Miku and Saiki in this song they really do a great job together....I would suggest that you find the video for this song too as you can see the back and forth between MISA and Kanami (and of course Akane too!)...thanks - as always a fun reaction ...Peace and Respect from 🇨🇦
Ryan, not sure if you will be interested but here is a link to a fan cam that I took in New York City in 2019...the song is Don't be long...th-cam.com/video/l9Lpw34KFqM/w-d-xo.html - the sound is not great (I was using an iPad to record this and a few more songs ) but you get a really nice view of the ladies playing and moving around on stage....thanks
I'd like to thank you for the reaction/reviews to Band-Maid songs from CDs back a ways. I can't believe that I only discovered this group a few weeks ago through a fluke on TH-cam. I was talking music with a friend and brought up the Aussie band "Cold Chisel" to him and he in turn talked of Deniz Tek and "Radio Birdman" so I searched them on TH-cam and somehow "Play" by Band-Maid came up in the sidebar. A day later I found your reaction site. I wasn't adverse to Japanese bands as I'd listened to and bought many J-Pop/J-Rock CDs related to anime back in the 90s and learned through them, because I couldn't understand the words, to listen to the human voice as an instrument expressing emotion in itself like other instruments do. Band-Maid has so much to listen to and your videos point me at songs and show me what is happening so I can listen better and enjoy their artistry in a deeper way. One thing I've noticed, which has probably been brought up somewhere, is about their logo, which is onscreen in the video. The version that is a white figure on a black background, to me, evokes the "Punisher" image that is common on special forces patches while the reverse image doesn't do that and looks just as a maid's necktie. I'm sure that duality is designed in to express the many ways the band's music crosses boundaries.
WD is the album that got me hooked. So much gold on there . What's great is that album was just a step. It's awesome, but still somewhat "simple" compared to their most recent stuff. The evolution of this band is just mind boggling. What is their ceiling?
Now that you've aired Turn Me On (Fate next?), Ryan, go check out the live performance at BandMaidPrime website or that other you-know-where place. Or check out this fun, live performance at an intimate venue of Don't You Tell Me & Turn Me On: th-cam.com/video/kfYQoWBlSpk/w-d-xo.html As for key changes... other than that (4) chord climb near the end of Kanami's solo, I don't think there's a change in the root key or any typical modulation going on in the song. Thx for your continued reactions / review of Band-Maid's awesome catalog. Standing by for more...
Fond memories of this track in particular...when looping the album in a long traffic tailback...in the rain. The best of times! Oh, the GIF...is it simply a Canadian losing their s**t thing?? :-))
My friend if this was your wrestling theme song I'd tap out before we started, not even the Undertaker, Stone Cold or any of the greats would tempt fate in taking on a Maid backed opponent 👍😄
This has such a classic rock vibe, plus is just a great song. And of course even in simpler form, it has those "maidian" little touches. It's a song I hope they resurrect for the US tour for sure, along with FATE (which Ryan, is another song you'll definitely want to check out if you haven't yet)
Funny how people say the solo reminds them of different songs. I briefly got a Randy Rhodes vibe. Off the top of my head, either Flying High Again or Over The Mountain.
Love this song, love this reaction! If you have the means you MUST see the live version from Zepp Tokyo I believe it was. If this melted your brain, the live version will melt your face. :) Go back and listen to Miku's chords during Kanami's solo. They ascend and descend along with the key changes. Really brilliant. And what more can be said about MISA? I mean, c'mon man! :) And: The gif is from Dogma, that's God (Alannis Morrisette) shouting to reset the world after Damon and Affleck try to destroy the world.
Great song. Makes me glad I have their whole discography and don't have to depend on TH-cam. I really enjoy your insights and reactions though. Great interplay between Kaname and Misa with Akane patterning behind it.
Dayum.. How much do I love your reaction? I've literally watched your Blooming and Daydreaming reaction videos over and over again, and I'll love this Turn Me On reaction video as well!! Wishing you a happy and magical New Year! I hope it brings you lots of joy and happiness. All the best xD Thank you!
You really need to watch and react to the live version from Zepp Toyko. The beginning bass and drums on that live version are amazing. And I just noticed someone else commented about doing a 2fr with studio and live versions - good idea. Turn Me On is in my top 10 Band Maid songs.
First time I heard this song I knew it was going to be a top-five for me. Made my ears happy from the opening riff. As mentioned this was done with Kentaro Akutsu, who they seemed to really enjoy working with. Another early Akutsu song you should try is Shake That. Another one that is always near the top of my personal list of B-M songs.
I can’t believe you hadn’t done this one! Great track but you must do the live version… of course it’s much heavier and Miku is verging on cute overload! 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Ryan! Happy New Year to you and all your dear ones! This song does exist in live video and you can imagine the atmosphere then! Reminiscent of Chemical Reaction, it has actually become a mainstay of their recent live concerts and probably will be for a long while! If they play that on an US stage they will blow the place! This song is obviously exciting on many aspects, but Miku is really busy there, belting harmonies all the way through and making her rhythmic guitar distinctly sing! In the video Kanami is almost lpaying along with a smug face over lookin after the whole band. Misa and Akane? Need I say anything? Saiki is in her element here moving her body endlessly to the tempo. One song you have to listen many a time to separate each performance as you always point out. Now, what do they hold in store for us for the next 5 years? Your son will shake his head in disbelief at your maidiac frenzy! LOL Do not worry, Band Maid must have by now more than a million men dreaming their life all over again in their company! LOL (S..t, I wrote that!) Waiting with impatience for our next reaction notification! Best regards, Bilbo Under A Dormant Volcano with A Dragon dangerously swooping overhead! Robert-Gilles
😂 always enjoy your reactions Ryan but I especially enjoy how the Maids can turn us into giddy teen-agers getting ready for a first date 😂👍 Happy New Year all, peace, love and world domination Po 🎼🥁🎸🍻
This song is definitely Thrash or Post Thrash in my opinion. People claiming BM doesn’t do metal have a limited historical viewpoint on what metal is. Just missing a growly vocalist and a wah through the entire solo to fit in with the big 4 lol. Check out the live versions. There is a pro concert version but also Vladamirs is great because the pigeon is on fire. Also opening bass solo. Turn me on starts about 5:30 in but Don’t you Tell Me is awesome too. th-cam.com/video/kfYQoWBlSpk/w-d-xo.html
Every time someone mentions the live version of this song, like I am here, YOU Ryan, have to take a shot. Happy 2022! Thanks for all the awesome stuff in 2021, Mr. Mear!
This is one of my favorites ever from them and my second fav from WD right after I Can't Live Without You. Too much power development, not a girly band at all 🤘🕊️
the songs off this album.. u have NOT haere dthem unless you ahve heard zepp live dvd its utterly amazing and the hits hard with the drums for once with a live amaaaaazing from start to finish if u have not seen it, are you averse to watching it on mega?
Nice reaction. I'd like to suggest you to listen "Honey" from the same album. It's a bonus track & a tribute cover song from BAND-MAID for band called "MUCC" for their 20th anniversary tribute album.
Yes, indeed. Four chord changes in another patented Ms Tono solo. You might talk about how good it is but Band-Maid has yet to do anything that isn't in one way or another. Lyrics reveal a tough young lady who knows exactly what she wants and is not shy about saying what that might be. Remind you of anyone in the band? For those of you who don't bother to check the lyrics of all Band-Maid songs they are often quite revealing. Even song lyrics written for the band reveal much about them like Liberal, for instance. "We need a revolution!" (from Liberal). She isn't kidding because "this isn't a joke". And WD is a absolutely fantastic album. Happy new year. Depending upon where they play here l just might see you at the show. Here's hoping. We all love Band-Maid.
Up and Down, Side to Side, Round and Round, Neck Chop to the Left, Neck Chop to the Right, Back and Forth, Swivel Neck in whatever needed direction, and Bill Cosby "Daaaaahhhh" Pudding Pop Eyes and Mouth is what's required to figure Kanami's Rhythms/Riffs out!!! 🤘🤪🤘
🤣 Haha ! Great reaction, and yes this song is much better loud ! It starts off as catchy rock song that morphs into a really kickass song. Akane’s drumming & pedal work is phenomenal and I love her her perfectly played drum fill. Misa's bass prior to Kanami’s epic solo is also fantastic. Miku’s vocals and harmonies are cool and very appealing as usual. Saiki is perfection as always. There are 2 well recorded live versions of “Turn me on” that are as good, if not better than the original, but have been hard to find on TH-cam lately.
Great reaction Band Maid is something sensational, I recommend you react to "Same as you are" or " Weight of my pride" or "Pictures" of Pay money To my Pain, great japanese band.
I’m listening to Mincho’s solo thinking, how do you keep your head from exploding with all of this music in there? And leave space for Misa to do her thing?
Somewhere out there in the multiverse there is a universe where Band-Maid was broken up because Thrill was never made. It's probably the same universe where Batman and Superman are evil, Thanos snapped, and a strange mix of polka and rap is the mainstream.
I've never bothered looking up the lyrics before (Except for Corallium) So I had to, after your reaction............... err!!!. Lol. At least it sounds amazing. :) Happy New Year Ryan. Keep up the great work.
You should check out Turn Me On live at Zepp Tokyo Ryan, it is incredible!

Bilbo Under A Dormant Volcano with A Dragon dangerously swooping overhead!

Mear!
Heh... I'd be passed out already!
@@RyanMear I'd be asylum bound. (Hey, that's good name for a song or band.)
Brother, you and Tank are my 2 favorite guys to watch. Have a killer week
Alanis Morissette as God in the movie Dogma. Awesome movie!! Love your videos Ryan!!! Keep up the great work!
Hi Ryan you should do another reaction to the live of this.. It's a great video and just as good if not better than this audio version.
♥ this song! BTW - as mentioned before the live version is even better!
This is one of my favorites ever from them and my second fav from WD right after I Can't Live Without You. Too much power development, not a girly band at all 🤘🕊️
The entire "World Domination" album is great. Kanami really shines on evrey song.
the songs off this album..
u have NOT haere dthem unless you ahve heard zepp live dvd
its utterly amazing
and the hits hard with the drums for once with a live
amaaaaazing from start to finish
if u have not seen it, are you averse to watching it on mega?
It's All About "World Domination"...
Good ryan...live version in tokio 2018 explosive...intro misa and akane...incredible
That breakdown section is working its way towards the top of my all-time greatest list.
There are 2 well recorded live versions of “Turn me on” that are as good, if not better than the original, but have been hard to find on TH-cam lately.
i think the live version has a "battle" between misa and kanami ...
Thx for the react. Wonderful. And that's a gif of Alannis Morissette playing God in Dogma lol. :)
This is one of the songs from the Domination album that was an instant love.
MISA MISA MISA!
Great reaction Band Maid is something sensational, I recommend you react to "Same as you are" or " Weight of my pride" or "Pictures" of Pay money To my Pain, great japanese band.
I could have sworn that there was a mv for this song? The label might have had it taken down.
Yeah, it is like God's voice
wow that was an awesome song and solos
Great rifing
great song
great job
great night
see ya next time!!
Another cool track written and arranged by Kentaro Akutsu.
You can review this album, ready to attend their American concert.
I’m listening to Mincho’s solo thinking, how do you keep your head from exploding with all of this music in there? And leave space for Misa to do her thing?
Akane!! Akane!! Akane!!
Somewhere out there in the multiverse there is a universe where Band-Maid was broken up because Thrill was never made. It's probably the same universe where Batman and Superman are evil, Thanos snapped, and a strange mix of polka and rap is the mainstream.
LOL
Akane signature punk D-beats....\m/
I've never bothered looking up the lyrics before (Except for Corallium)
So I had to, after your reaction............... err!!!. Lol.
At least it sounds amazing. :)
Happy New Year Ryan.
Keep up the great work.
