Thank you so much for linking these, I see a lot of creators reference a video then say they'll link it or w/e then I have to sift through their often unorganized playlists. However you came in clutch with this post! 6 skills to learn first is what I'm looking for many, thanks my dude🙏
Thank you for this video . I've only been playing my new game for 2 days for the first time on forbidden west and am only leveled up at 7 so this is a big help because I didn't yet know over half of what you explained.
@@RESISTANCE..3 Nice! Don't worry if you can't get those hunting grounds challenges done right now. They can be tough early on and it's much easier when you come back later with better gear. But sounds like you're doing well on them!
Or you can do like me and get a trainer and completely ignore all pouch upgrades because they are the biggest waste of time in this game. I'll get all of the rest of the upgrades legit.
@@Eunostos I think he meant that he thought that buying the upgrades is not fun, and that you will have a better time grinding, when you can just buy the stuff you are having a hard time getting. For example, if I need salmon bones, I might not want to go to the coast to get it because that will take a long time. Some people prefer skipping the “boring” parts of the game and just buying the item at an herbalist.
IIRC after you have the Base, you can ALWAYS fasttravel for free to the Base, and then use the campfire there to fasttravel to the campfire you want to go to.
The Job function highlights Greenshine and Brimshine - set a job for the purchase or upgrade, and it will show you the nearest resource location (which sometimes might not be very accessible, if you are early in the game).
As a completionist, I complete everything in a game, as long as it's a game that I am enjoying. I also collect and hoard everything in sight. So, basically I am way more overpowered and overleveled when I reach certain missions, which is how I like it. Horizon: Zero Dawn was amazing, while Horizon: Forbidden West is even better, making it super amazing. Both games received a 10/10 score from me, while my scores are the only ones that matter to me, in my world. Great video, by the way!
haha i just did that with zero dawn remastered, it was my first play through so i did EVERYTHING, got the shield weaver armor and all the collectables. i was at level 55 when i got to the end game it's really fun to be able to just body bigger machines and take barely any damage because you're way too overpowered lol

This video is definitely a must see for new players! I struggled so much in my first playthrough and I was even playing on story mode. This info would have made it so much easier.
Great tips. This game is so unbelievably good I hope the PC port is good. Your channel has been my absolute go-to for HFW info/tips/combat strategies. Thanks for all your hard work.

Even after close to 200 hours in this game, I still need help, especially in combat I still get overwhelmed, I'm obviously doing something wrong so your videos are really helpful
For machines, look for a chain reaction when you don’t need to get a specific part. If you need to collect something and you hit a chain reaction that explodes (blaze) then the part is gone. But its a good thing to knock them down
I had no idea I could hold down the healing button to refill the pouch. Thank you! I was so confused as to what the number next to the berry's indicated vs the number next to the healing cross. This was bugging me. Great video. Liked and subscribed.

Thanks Arktix, for all the hard work towards the franchise! ❤ It is a beautiful game but definitely needs some pointers to set people on the right track, just like the first one did. Both games are gorgeous and very rewarding when delving into the lore. For the best experience: start with the first game, or watch the 6 hours movie version of it before starting up Horizon Forbidden West.
Ive played dozens of hours of this game since december and have seen probably all of your HFW vids, and i still ended up learning a shit ton of quality of life stuff or previously unknown game mechanics. Literally said “ooooooohhh” out loud at least once or twice haha good shit as always man
Never thought that I would enjoy a story based game again until I started playing HZD and fell in love with it and when I heard about Forbidden West I knew that I had to play it. The exploration in the game is crazy good and the emotion of each characters can be felt throughout the story. Usually I would only focus on the main stories/Quest for other games that don’t really interest me but for The Horizon Franchise I find myself doing everything other mission that is available before continuing the Main Quest which is a surprise. ArkTix, this is a great primer for the new PC players. These guys are in for a treat as HFW+BS is arguably the greatest technical achievement so far this generation. I can't wait to see your breakdown of Stellar Blade. People focus too much on Eve's body design, when in fact the incredible enemy design and Sekiro-Lite cinematic combat is the true star of the show. I am already working on glass cannon Blink & Retribution builds for Eve.
Thanks! That was the goal 😁 And I agree it’s arguably the greatest technical achievement of the PS5 generation. I hope Stellar Blade is good! I watched the leaked demo and it got my hopes up again after I was underwhelmed by the state of play trailer. Definitely planning to cover it.
@@ArktixOfficial I can't even begin to imagine what Guerilla will pull off in Horizon 3 when unfettered by the archaic ps4. I do see them adding aerial and marine combat. I've watched several Stellar Blade boss fights. The game is nowhere near as deep or nuanced as DMC, Bayo or Sekiro, but it is quite satisfying and visceral enough for its 25 hour run time. Eve's animations are simply amazing. In one beta burst, she actually picks up her sword with her high heels in one smooth effortless ballerina-like animation. Simply incredible.
@@ArktixOfficial It should be interesting to see your in-depth gameplay breakdown. I don't care about Eve's physical assets. I just care about the challenging gameplay.
Personally i find the arena glitch the best thing i ever found, easy to do, did it about 10 times now i have all the legendary gear fully upgraded before going into ng+ so i didn't need to spend countless hours grinding for different parts and can just enjoy playing though it.
Something helpful- Larend (the salvage guy near Barren light) sometimes has some really nice Legendary resources for upgrades/purchasing fancy weapons/outfits
I've been watching your videos for a while, when I was still playing on PS4. Now that it's out on PC and I finally get to delve into the DLC, I'm watching again. But back then, you had no camera and your face wasn't in these videos. And by the gods, are you a handsome person. Wow. Thanks for the video(s), helps me overcome the nagging feeling in my chest that I'll waste a bunch of time farming it all again on PC when I did it already on PS4. This will save me TONS of time!
Wow....Just started FW on PC yesterday. I've only just come to Chainscrape. This was a FIREHOSE of content, but clearly important for new players. Thanks!
I love horizon but as a person that comes from LOVING zero dawn, I just got so overwhelmed with so many things. I know it's a good thing that the world was able to grow so much. But it was just a bit too much at once. Idk just my opinion 😌
yes, in fact he says it while climbing the tower to drop the abandoned spaceship, but many never pay attention to things and then they have to watch these tutorials that only explain obvious things
5:30 I might be wrong but I remember the games tutorial essentially forcing you to learn that hitting 'O' before ending your grapple in order to launch up.. granted.. the game really ought to enforce this more than once. Just after the first few stealth encounters iirc
Finally getting to play this game after all this time of its launch! Life happens when you are over 40 😆 thanks for the great content brother! You got my subscription! TC and keep growing!
Idk if it’s obvious but it helps me a lot.. go to as many of the campfires and quick save. You can travel from every known fire you have “unlocked” for free using a known campfire and the circle button (free fast travel). If a campfire is unknown it will cost u a fast pack which costs shards (money) in the game.
Im playing now the forbidden west 75% complete playing for 4 months now hahaha. Thankyou for your tips and videos I will definitely try the zero down after
One thing I didn't realize until just recently, as in yesterday or the day before, is that the resource containers on machines will most likely have what I need. Like braided wire for weapon upgrades for example. Up till I realized that, I just kept killing machines, hoping I'd see it while looting.
Ancestors Return and Carjas Bane are my favorite weapons by far. Mostly the shock shredders of Ancestors Return. If you coil the shredder gauntlet to buff shock damage and damage over time and agility, you can delete even shock resistant machines. Not to mention the ridiculous amount of tear damage the shredders do, breaking off machine components with minimal effort.
17:26 the hunting merchants do actually restock if you start new game+ though. I’m on my third playthrough at ultra hard (to get the last achievement) and I now have more purple impact dmg 12% than what is initially offered from merchants
the moment you unlock the base, you never need fast travel packs again. you can always travel to your base for free without a pack from anywhere fast travel is allowed, from there, you can freely travel from one fire to another, because when you travel to the base, it will always drop you right next to a fire. Second Chance is easily the best armor perk in the game, because you are right, aloy is squishy, the whole game through. on any difficulty above story, things like a single thunderjaw charge or a single slaighterspine or roller back hitting you with their tail, can possibly one shot you from full health, even at level 50+.(getting sat on by a fireclaw, oof...) If you are on the PC version, one of the armors comes with second chance from level 1, if not, you will have to wait until you can either get the utaru ritesinger or utaru protector armor to get it. but dont worry too much, there are foods which also give the perk temporarily, if you have a tough fight and need a different armor for a specific type of defense. Machine muscle, echo shells, volatile sludge are always super hard to keep in stock, especially if you love tearblast arrows. i recommend crafting up all your arrows/ammo, taking a large potion, THEN restocking from stash or refilling supplies from a vendor between quests.
Good stuff man. I couldn't find any frickin' rabbits or lizards, now I know how to create a job for them! And I've been using my hunter bow for EVERYTHING, now I'll try some of the other weapons and upgrades! Nice. I was actually looking for how to mount a machine for PC, since I don't seem to have the "Call Mount" option after I override them, so I'll keep looking, but this was a great vid to watch on my journey.
I love this game. Played it a couple times, but now that I have a ps5, I can play the dlc, so I went back to an old save just after meeting Zo and having our base. It’s been fun to play again. I want to get 100% before going to play the burning sands or whatever the dlc is called. Thanks for your videos.
Great video, still a lot of information altogether. I will love to see it in a more structure way, kind of like a guide since you start playing and then advancing throughout the game.
I just completed my first story run. I want to hunt all achievements so I rushed through the game so I can later on enjoy a tough challenge in NG+. After my rushed story I was already blown away by this amazing game but after seing this I can't even wait to complete everything this game offers.
@@ArktixOfficial the quest progression chapter specifically. You showed an end game area of the facility or whatever it’s called I’m not there in the game yet. You basically told us that when we get there and do those three quests the main story is almost over. Most reviews or tip videos like this specifically don’t show late game areas like that and don’t script it like that. You’re robbing the new players the experience of seeing those things for the first time. So thanks for taking the magic from that segment of the game from me.
@@huskycruxes7232 I can see how that could be a bit upsetting, but it's not a late game spoiler. You get there relatively early and I blurred everything important in those shots. I'm sorry this was upsetting to you, but if you care about relatively minor things like this I would expect you wouldn't be risking watching tips videos until later in your playthrough. I hope you can find the other tips helpful. I'm sure you will still be quite pleased when you get to that point in the story as I didn't spoil anything major about it.
@@ArktixOfficial most of the tips were incredibly helpful. I mostly came to this vid as a new player sort of struggling to grasp all the different mechanics and menus and wanted some tips on how to improve. You definitely gave me that:)
This video got recommended to be after I just stopped playing after playing all day and now I want to play again😂 Its my first play through and I only have 13 hours rn and I only unlocked half of the map but this is getting me excited to just jump right back onto the couch and start the game to get all the stuff
While Arena Gear is hard to get, the same Vendor sells Gear for Hunting Ground Medals, which is very easy to get, and a good way to get an early reliable Boltblaster for example. How to sort the inventory would have been nice too after shocking with the unsorted one :-) Heavy Attack to Knockdown Light Machine, and Power Attack for medium machines is also another trick, if knowns and learned early is really helpful.
Did I show the inventory unsorted at some point? Whoops. And yes, good point that you can get the Hunting Grounds Medal items. I think a lot of players find the Hunting Grounds difficult/frustrating as well though.
In Zero Dawn, you could load multiple arrows on one bow, change to a different one for example to apply an elemental effect, then change back to have the arrows pre- loaded. Can you do the same in FW?
Great content, the best tutorials on horizon by far..2 questions. 1. What in the world does "body them" mean? 2. When I want to switch Valor surges mid fight, I have to pause, flip to the skill screen, pick a new surge then back out to return to the fight..completely interrupts the flow of combat..am I missing something or is this what everyone is dealing with?
Thanks! I’m looking forward to launch as well 😁 I returned that playthrough series via stream more recently and the recorded streams are part of the playlist if you wanted to check those out. Otherwise, I’ll be streaming a new playthrough on PC beginning around PC launch. Hope to see you there!
What an amazing game. I haven't even finished playing zero dawn yet. I can't believe I only found out about this game a month ago. I wanna finish zero dawn before going into forbidden west. So much more settings in forbidden west though. Not sure how I feel about that till I play it. The machines look so cool though.
After months of not touching this game I came back around to it for a third play through in light of the PC port for it. A nice change of pace from Elden ring 😭 I plan on going a different route in terms of combat
Only thing I'd say is for the part with Regalla to be forgiving first and get the outfit. Because if someone is going for 100% the whole game the weapon will count into the achievement for 2nd playthrough 😊
Really like how it centers around archery instead of a hack and slash type start. Alot of games 🎮 make you work for your bow from the start. My 3rd comment lol, goin to play now thanks again 😊🎮👍
Always like to keep a story game going, to rotate with Warzone/call of duty. Looks like this one is gonna be great, just finished both starwars Jedi games 🎮 They are both good with survivor being top notch. Great video 👍🎮
Dont know about you but my favourite place settlement is probably scalding spear its got everything u need plus a thunderjaw really close by -or at least a campfire u can go to a few studs away from the TJ site
Upgrade the Vindicator and slap stagger on it and it will be the only big game weapon you will ever need. Throw drillspikes on the legs until the target is staggered and finish with explosive splitting spikes. rinse and repeat
Mildulf will actually let you take 3 free food items, if you don't have any yet, haven't upgraded your food pouch and do it in that first purchase interaction. I've done it in more than one playthrough

Yeah it will be interesting to see what they do with H3! And yeah Stellar Blade is looking promising!
@@ArktixOfficial It should be interesting to see your in-depth gameplay breakdown. I don't care about Eve's physical assets. I just care about the challenging gameplay.
BRO, your Horizon videos are like Ted Talks. You got my sub for how you format your videos and information.
Oh my lord. I always read greenshine slivers as "greenshine silvers". After hearing that, man do i feel goofy.
Ah no worries. You found 'em all the same, right? 😁
That is very kind of you, thank you! 🙂 Hope you find the tips helpful and you enjoy your new playthrough!
Wow....Just started FW on PC yesterday. I've only just come to Chainscrape.
This was a FIREHOSE of content, but clearly important for new players. Thanks!
Thanks! Hope you're enjoying the game!
As someone who just 100% Zero Dawn on Ultra Hard, I'm glad I found your videos.
I love horizon but as a person that comes from LOVING zero dawn, I just got so overwhelmed with so many things. I know it's a good thing that the world was able to grow so much. But it was just a bit too much at once. Idk just my opinion 😌
5:30, it actually does say it pretty early on, still in the daunt early. I forget where exactly but that's how I knew about it.
yes, in fact he says it while climbing the tower to drop the abandoned spaceship, but many never pay attention to things and then they have to watch these tutorials that only explain obvious things
5:30 I might be wrong but I remember the games tutorial essentially forcing you to learn that hitting 'O' before ending your grapple in order to launch up.. granted.. the game really ought to enforce this more than once. Just after the first few stealth encounters iirc
Professional as always - thank you for this guide. I will pick up PC HFW later on in the year to return to my favourite PS5 game.
Thanks! Hope you enjoy a new playthrough when you get to it!
awesome vid dude just what i've been looking for
Finally getting to play this game after all this time of its launch!
At last on pc! Astounding amount of thought has gone into this game.
Im playing now the forbidden west 75% complete playing for 4 months now hahaha. Thankyou for your tips and videos
I will definitely try the zero down after
Awesome! Hope you find the tips helpful 😁 And yes, definitely play Zero Dawn!
Oh yes definitely. Maybe I should have been more clear and said that they'll never restock until starting a new game+
@@ArktixOfficialwell you did actually say it more clearly at 17:29, which I missed lol
4:23 by the way, pick up is not in the settings so I don’t know why
Are you on PS4? If so, I think PS4 never got the update that added this.
the moment you unlock the base, you never need fast travel packs again. you can always travel to your base for free without a pack from anywhere fast travel is allowed, from there, you can freely travel from one fire to another, because when you travel to the base, it will always drop you right next to a fire.
Cool video.. i just had finished the tutorial so yr video arrived in best time
Nice! Glad you liked the vid. Hope you find the tips helpful and enjoy the Forbidden West!
Another amazing horizon vid!
Thank you! 😁
Awesome video! I'm a huge Horizon fan and am excited to revisit on PC when I can upgrade my graphics card.
Thanks! Hope you enjoy another playthrough on PC!
I really appreciate you putting story spoilers in your tips and tricks guide.
Not sure what spoiler you’re referring to? I always avoid any major story spoilers.
Happy to hear that. Glad I was able to help you out a bit 🙂
Very helpful video. Thanks for the upload! 👍
Thank you for the video! So helpful!!
Just waiting for a good sale to-do my run.
Got plenty of extra games so no hurry
Hope you enjoy it when you get to it!
This video got recommended to be after I just stopped playing after playing all day and now I want to play again😂 Its my first play through and I only have 13 hours rn and I only unlocked half of the map but this is getting me excited to just jump right back onto the couch and start the game to get all the stuff
This video helps so much I watch it weekly thank you
I have so much fun hunting in this game, I was at lvl 25+ before getting through the daunt 😂. The Glider is one of the best additions for sure.
I completed Zero Dawn first to 100% with over 100 hours and I'm realy exited for Forbidden West. The graphics looks amazing.
I couldn’t play the first horizon but the second game was the best couldn’t stop playing it
can't wait to play!
Glad you’re excited! 😁
Just got the game for PC! It’s absolutely phenomenal
Awesome! Glad you're enjoying it 😁
amazing vids and extremelly helpfull especially the options setting tyvm :)
Thank you! Glad you found those settings helpful 😁
when you said transmog i was like wow from amazing to epic!
While Arena Gear is hard to get, the same Vendor sells Gear for Hunting Ground Medals, which is very easy to get, and a good way to get an early reliable Boltblaster for example.
How to sort the inventory would have been nice too after shocking with the unsorted one :-)
Heavy Attack to Knockdown Light Machine, and Power Attack for medium machines is also another trick, if knowns and learned early is really helpful.
Yup! You need to unlock triple notch and/or double notch first though.
Love all your videos and I love HZD, I’m so looking forward to playing HFW for the first time on PC next week
Awesome! Glad you enjoy the videos 😁 Hope you enjoy your first playthrough!
13:57 the effect as actually permanent until you go below your supposed max health or quit the game
at a certain point in the story, it does tell you to tap 'O' to jump after reaching grappling point to reach even higher.
I got the Forbidden West!
I thank you for the tips:)
Was just thinking about doing a 2nd playthrough and boom this video pops up
Perfect for the upcoming pc release, thanks man
Thanks! That was my plan 😁 Hope you're excited!
Hey man been loving the content prep for FW
Thanks! I’m looking forward to launch as well 😁 I returned that playthrough series via stream more recently and the recorded streams are part of the playlist if you wanted to check those out. Otherwise, I’ll be streaming a new playthrough on PC beginning around PC launch. Hope to see you there!
@@ArktixOfficial yeah if I can find time away from my own fresh play through !!
Haha enjoy!
Amazing video. Thanks, man!
What an amazing game. I haven't even finished playing zero dawn yet. I can't believe I only found out about this game a month ago. I wanna finish zero dawn before going into forbidden west. So much more settings in forbidden west though. Not sure how I feel about that till I play it. The machines look so cool though.
The best outfit for gathering resources is the Carja Blazdon. It helps with the harder resources to gather.
Being able to fine tune difficulty is awesome
Amazing video, thank you 😊
Thanks! Hope you found the tips helpful!
THX for the video!
Thanks! Hope you found it helpful!
Thanks for this video, I found it very helpful.
Always like and sub when I'm new to the channel.
Haven't played the first one, but I'm jumping into the new one RN.
Thank you for the information 😊🎮👍
Always like to keep a story game going, to rotate with Warzone/call of duty. Looks like this one is gonna be great, just finished both starwars Jedi games 🎮
They are both good with survivor being top notch.
Great video 👍🎮
Dont know about you but my favourite place settlement is probably scalding spear its got everything u need plus a thunderjaw really close by -or at least a campfire u can go to a few studs away from the TJ site
5:30 - The game does tell you to use 'dodge' to launch off grapple points.
Upgrade the Vindicator and slap stagger on it and it will be the only big game weapon you will ever need. Throw drillspikes on the legs until the target is staggered and finish with explosive splitting spikes. rinse and repeat
SO USEFUL!!! THANKS MAN!!
Mildulf will actually let you take 3 free food items, if you don't have any yet, haven't upgraded your food pouch and do it in that first purchase interaction. I've done it in more than one playthrough
This game is big so big I just started it and I love it
Glad you're enjoying it!
