At age 12, just before The Beatles arrived, I had a Roy Orbison vinyl that I wore out! I've always been a sucker for fabulous vocals! Thanks for the nod here to Roy! ❤❤❤👍
Roy Orbison is a legend ❤ a suggestion Roy’s duet on his song Crying with k.d.lang & then k.d singing the same song at Roy’s tribute concert she blew everyone away ❤ x she is also one of the backing singers here along with Bonnie Raitt & Jennifer Warnes also the men backing singers JD Souther, Jackson Browne & Steven Soles, Bruce Springsteen is also there as well as Elvis Costello x
Decade & Ocean Apart - Music : "Roy Orbison and Friends: A Black and White Night" was FIRST broadcast on January 3, 1988 BEFORE Orbison's death on December 6, 1988. "The special consisted of a performance of many of Orbison's hits at the Ambassador Hotel's Cocoanut Grove nightclub in Los Angeles, filmed on September 30, 1987, approximately fourteen months before his death." This is from a "... 1988 Cinemax television special originally broadcast on January 3, 1988, presenting a performance by singer/songwriter Roy Orbison and the TCB Band with special guests including Bruce Springsteen, k.d. lang and others. The special was filmed entirely in black and white."
Just this morning I came across a young man performing "Crying" (Roy Orbison). I was impressed by his beautiful smooth voice. If you like to check him out, his name is Elliot James Reay. So nice, that young people cover songs from my youth. 🥰
I think the quote about Roy attributed to Elvis isn’t quite right, although what he did say was essentially the same. Elvis held Roy Orbison is very high regard, publicly stating that Roy had the 'most perfect voice' and taking the stage after an Orbison performance, said to the audience '’he’s simply the greatest singer in the world' during one of his Dec. 1976 Vegas concerts. Opera star Kiri Te Kanawa said that the young Elvis had the greatest voice she had ever heard. The opera tenor Placido Domingo said of Elvis: “His was the one voice I wish to have had.” Welsh Opera bass-baritone Bryn Terfel said that Elvis was: “… very classically orientated with his voice and diction and very sincere and wanting to get everything perfect.” And Roy Orbison was The “Caruso Of Rock.”
Incorrect about the band , only the base player played with Elvis. The other one are all big names in the music industry. Even the backup singers. Look it up.

sub'd for RO and perhaps you might dip into The Traveling Wilbury's with 5 greats including Roy.

The drummer, Ronnie Tutt played with Elvis as well as lead guitarist James Burton.
