Great video. I’m that person who needs these kind of videos and there’s still about five minutes left and I’ve figured out my problem. Cheers. It means a lot!
That drain it via the Radiator was the method I use(d) - but I hardly drained any water before the pressure dropped from over 2 to just 1.5 bar. Excellent video - thankyou!!!
Thanks Allen! Boiler broke down yesterday. Water leaking from it, BG guy came out and fixed it. As he left he said "You might need to bleed the radiators and adjust the pressure again...." I shat myself! Thanks to your videos, a I've bled radiators, and adjusted the pressure. Its sitting steadily around 1.5ish bar. Thanks again! Great videos!
Like the other chap I over filled the boiler when re-pressurising. Had no idea what to do until I saw this video and scrolled through while the needle was going up. Drained the radiator - always have a key handy! - but it did come out in a gush, so be careful you have loads of kitchen paper handy. Worked perfectly. Saved my bacon. Thanks!
Thanks mate. My missus had upped the pressure on the boiler and must have left the valve open, watching your video made me realise why our heating system was going nuts and quickly remidied the situation the following weekend after a week of 4 bar pressure. Life saver.

Hi Alan, thanks for that very comprehensive explanation on releasing the pressure... I’ve been googling for ages and you’ve hit the nail on the head 🤙🏼🤙🏼
My radiators won't heat despite the boiler working so I had the not so brilliant idea to mess with things and valves etc underneath the boiler. I ended up increasing the water pressure quite a lot. I was totally panicked and found your video. So helpful and so clear. Thank you for showing the radiator method too as I couldn't locate the part underneath the boiler you showed first and I had had enough of a scare I didn't want to go messing with this boiler anymore!!
Thank you Allan for the video , I like all your videos, I worked as a plumber in Russia for 3 years. I started watching your videos thinking to do qualification.
Thanks! Finally I have found the answer! All the problems that I have found bothering most of the people, were about the pressure going DOWN! So thanks again!
I can not tell you how long i've been searching for all the information in your video. I couldn't find the info on Google or TH-cam and it's such a bonus that you've explained it in such a simple way. Thank you so much.
@@AllenHart999 Hi, I have a Procombi boiler 85HE. The pressure keeps going up to 3 bar or more when the heating is on. Since watching your video i've been bleeding the radiators to lower the pressure but it keeps rising again once it has been lowered. Then i noticed the boiler shuts off when the pressure gets too high and when that happens the pressure drops to 0 so i then have to top the pressure up to get it going again. Then it will work for a while until it shuts itself off again. So from watching your video i'm thinking i have a problem with the expansion vessel. I've got an engineer coming Thursday to give it a service. When i top up the pressure with the filling loop though quite a bit of water comes out of the top tap which i'm thinking shouldn't happen? It doesn't seem to leak at all when it's closed but could that be causing the pressure to rise also? Thanks.
It's the air in my radiators that need bleeding every so often that puts the pressure back down. Thanks for the advice to not turn the radiator key too much, you have probably saved me an absolute disaster there mate. I had no idea that the plug could shoot out of the radiator, (Sounds like a nightmare that I wouldn't be able to deal with on the spot) It was also good to know that the pressure gauge should be sitting on 1 when the boiler is off and the water cold. Thanks man :)
Thank you so much. I just drained the water from the raidator and the pressure gauge came down. Thanks for putting this video together it really helps.
Thank you ..Your video mentions the correct position for the levers ...front facing is on ...to the side and upwards is off ....makes the world of difference knowing that info.
Fab, exactly what I needed to know to release some of the pressure in the boiler: when the heating was on, the gauge was ticking up over 3 bar. Refilled it too much when the pressure went below 0.5 bar. Took 1 jug of water drained from a radiator to do. Simple and well explained :) Pressure released and boiler back to 1bar!!

Thanks so much Allen for your thoughtful and concise videos. We had been living with a a leaky pressure relief valve (PRV) for a couple years due to spiking pressure at startup. My system has an auto water feed valve to top off the water pressure "automatically", but pressure still fell below 1 bar on cold nights due to system contraction when off. Following your other video, I tested the pressure over time in the isolated boiler and had no loss, so I assumed it was probably the expansion tank. I drained the isolated boiler and proceeded to check and recharge the expansion tank. When I filled the expansion tank, a lot of sediment came out of the drain valve and the rest of the boiler water, which led me to believe that I also might have had a blockage in the expansion tank lead pipe. I thought I would share this to lend a hand.
Excellent video, after releasing pressure using a run off valve, I switched the central heating on but the pressure starts to creep up over 2.8bar within 10 mins. Any advise?
Hi Allen, thank you for the informative videos as always. I’m faced with a different kind of boiler pressure issues on a Worcester 30cdi. The pressure slowly keeps going up to 3 bar and above. It takes around 8 to 12 hours for the pressure to exceed 3 bar from 1 bar. Everything been checked expansion vessels is fully charged and in good working condition. Filling key has been removed from the loop to make sure it’s not passing through the filling loop, but the pressure still keeps going up slowly. Any idea what it could be ?? A little help to guide me in the right direction would be very much appreciated. Thanks..

Would value your response .
Thank you Allen. I have only just got comfortable with topping up the pressure in my Vokera boiler when it drops. Did this this morning but put a bit too much water back in. It is now at 2. I am not sure if it is safe to restart at this pressure or whether to try to be brave and try and bleed a radiator??
We had a new boiler fitted Dec 2019 and this year it keeps gaining pressure. I thought that because the bathroom radiator was half hot half cold the air in it probably wasn’t helping so I bled the towel radiator (there was a lot of air in it) and the boiler dumped all the water out so I repressurised it to 1 bar and a week later it’s back up to between 2-3 bar when it’s on. Looks like I’ll be calling an engineer soon. Yay! Thanks for the informative video though! :)
great advice as always .My workshop boiler pressure had gone up to 1.7 bar . it has been just over 1 bar for over 14 years . I took it down to 1.3 bar and will reduce it even more .Will I need to add some more inhibitor .
Hi Allen. I used the filling loop and put too much water in. The bar was in the red. I followed your advice and bled the radiator a few times which brought it back into the green. It’s working. But very noisy. Cold day here in Scotland. Thank you for the tips. 😻🏴
Excellent video. My pressure was slowly creeping up. I think the filling valve was not fully turned off. Bleeding a radiator (about 1 pint of water) brought the pressure down. Saved me calling out an engineer. Thankyou for the excellent advice.
Yes. I have. Thanks. Didn't realise that bleeding a radiator would do it. Thought I would need an engineer to do it at the boiler. Worcester Greenstar 30Si Combi Mk111. I have the manual but it really only covers installtion, not really fault finding.

Great video very informative I have a different sort of problem trying to get hot water in my home is a total nightmare unless it's set to a trickle it goes cold really quickly and stays that way I don't know if someone has messed with the boiler previously as this a rental property could be a simple fix just unsure on how to rectify the situation
Thanks for the great explanation. I set my Worcester mt10 at 1.5 bar. When heating the radiators on temperature level 3 it goes to redline 3 bar. Is it normal? Or should the pressure be on green at all times? Thanks again for the video

Thank You

great advice as always .My workshop boiler pressure had gone up to 1.7 bar . it has been just over 1 bar for over 14 years . I took it down to 1.3 bar and will reduce it even more .Will I need to add some more inhibitor .
Good stuff
Hi Allen. I used the filling loop and put too much water in. The bar was in the red. I followed your advice and bled the radiator a few times which brought it back into the green. It’s working. But very noisy. Cold day here in Scotland. Thank you for the tips. 😻🏴

This was very helpful , seems to have saved me at least £100 , thanks once again
Many thanks. Had to re pressurise my boiler but it went to the red once heating kicked in. Many thanks for your video
Thanks for this! Draining the radiator worked, didn't have to use the key tool, just turn the metal knob counterclockwise.
Top man! My system is a little bit different from the one you used as an example, but it worked all the same.
Appreciate it.
Glad it helped

Excellent video. My pressure was slowly creeping up. I think the filling valve was not fully turned off. Bleeding a radiator (about 1 pint of water) brought the pressure down. Saved me calling out an engineer. Thankyou for the excellent advice.
Hope you have now sorted it. Thanks.
Yes. I have. Thanks. Didn't realise that bleeding a radiator would do it. Thought I would need an engineer to do it at the boiler. Worcester Greenstar 30Si Combi Mk111. I have the manual but it really only covers installtion, not really fault finding.
Excellent video. Helped me sort out the boiler myself rather than having to call someone.
Thank you
Just subscribed as I like your presentation. Very clear. Now I know I have tried all the self help tips to fix my boiler pressure I need to call a heating engineer. Ta
Welcome aboard!
British Gas did not close one of the valves on the filler loop and the boiler pressure kept increasing, after watching your video I checked the valves and closed the open valve. The pressure gauge remains as 1.5 bar. Thank you for the informative video.
Thank You

Great video very informative I have a different sort of problem trying to get hot water in my home is a total nightmare unless it's set to a trickle it goes cold really quickly and stays that way I don't know if someone has messed with the boiler previously as this a rental property could be a simple fix just unsure on how to rectify the situation

Thanks for the great explanation. I set my Worcester mt10 at 1.5 bar. When heating the radiators on temperature level 3 it goes to redline 3 bar. Is it normal? Or should the pressure be on green at all times? Thanks again for the video
