@@AllenHart999 Hi, I have a Procombi boiler 85HE. The pressure keeps going up to 3 bar or more when the heating is on. Since watching your video i've been bleeding the radiators to lower the pressure but it keeps rising again once it has been lowered. Then i noticed the boiler shuts off when the pressure gets too high and when that happens the pressure drops to 0 so i then have to top the pressure up to get it going again. Then it will work for a while until it shuts itself off again. So from watching your video i'm thinking i have a problem with the expansion vessel. I've got an engineer coming Thursday to give it a service. When i top up the pressure with the filling loop though quite a bit of water comes out of the top tap which i'm thinking shouldn't happen? It doesn't seem to leak at all when it's closed but could that be causing the pressure to rise also? Thanks.
It's the air in my radiators that need bleeding every so often that puts the pressure back down. Thanks for the advice to not turn the radiator key too much, you have probably saved me an absolute disaster there mate. Hi Alan, thanks for that very comprehensive explanation on releasing the pressure... I’ve been googling for ages and you’ve hit the nail on the head 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Thanks so much Allen for your thoughtful and concise videos. We had been living with a a leaky pressure relief valve (PRV) for a couple years due to spiking pressure at startup. My system has an auto water feed valve to top off the water pressure "automatically", but pressure still fell below 1 bar on cold nights due to system contraction when off. Following your other video, I tested the pressure over time in the isolated boiler and had no loss, so I assumed it was probably the expansion tank. I drained the isolated boiler and proceeded to check and recharge the expansion tank. When I filled the expansion tank, a lot of sediment came out of the drain valve and the rest of the boiler water, which led me to believe that I also might have had a blockage in the expansion tank lead pipe. I thought I would share this to lend a hand.
We had a new boiler fitted Dec 2019 and this year it keeps gaining pressure. I thought that because the bathroom radiator was half hot half cold the air in it probably wasn’t helping so I bled the towel radiator (there was a lot of air in it) and the boiler dumped all the water out so I repressurised it to 1 bar and a week later it’s back up to between 2-3 bar when it’s on. Looks like I’ll be calling an engineer soon. Yay! Thanks for the informative video though! :)
Hi Allen, thank you for the informative videos as always. I’m faced with a different kind of boiler pressure issues on a Worcester 30cdi. The pressure slowly keeps going up to 3 bar and above. It takes around 8 to 12 hours for the pressure to exceed 3 bar from 1 bar. Everything been checked expansion vessels is fully charged and in good working condition. Filling key has been removed from the loop to make sure it’s not passing through the filling loop, but the pressure still keeps going up slowly. Any idea what it could be ?? Hi Alen. Thank you for processing and sharing this video. Had unintentionally overpressured my boiler's heating water circuit via the manual magnetic valve (Ariston Genus Premium). Your video helped me with depresuring the system by purging it under the filter via the manual tap, so we have heating and warm water right now. Keep on going sharing your valuable knowledge.

Thank you Allen. I have only just got comfortable with topping up the pressure in my Vokera boiler when it drops. Did this this morning but put a bit too much water back in. It is now at 2. I am not sure if it is safe to restart at this pressure or whether to try to be brave and try and bleed a radiator??
Hi i lost water preasure due to a leak on rad i represurerised boiler but now boiler keeps cutting out i bled radiators but just the same do you think i have airlock still thanx
great advice as always .My workshop boiler pressure had gone up to 1.7 bar . it has been just over 1 bar for over 14 years . I took it down to 1.3 bar and will reduce it even more .Will I need to add some more inhibitor .
Great videos but iv a weird issue with my boiler. Recently had an extra radiator added to system for loft conversion, drained and refilled system numerous times throughout the process as had a few leaks with new radiator etc. The boiler works fine but every so often the pressure seams to just drop and boiler cuts out with the usual error code and once I open the fill loop, the pressure jumps straight back to normal which for us is around 1 bar', over time this causes the pressure to keep going up and more recently I have had to drain water as it was hitting 3 bar when the heating has being being on due to this weird pressure loss needing the filling loop turned on for a few seconds for it to bounce straight back to normal which has caused it to fill up to much. It almost like it doesn't need any more pressure, but for some reason the needle drops below enough for it to cut out now and again. Hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance.

I must say you did excellent job by simplifed it. Noticed you got large radiator key to take air out from radiator where can you get it?
I filled mine to 1.5 when off... rose to 2 when on... need to bleed radiator I guess.
Same
Thank you
Great video....helped me sort out what I thought was a faulty shower....pressure was too high in boiler and turning off...thank you

1 when cold ,good to know.
I'd like to see a drain down anti sludge and refill ,including putting the anti corrosion chemicals or what ever they are.into the system.
This might help. Thanks. th-cam.com/video/2KVZhw2oWUc/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for informative video Allen . Boiler is an Ideal combi 35 Having issue with pressure, previously topped up to approx 1.2 bar. When lit in heating mode system pressure raises to about 2.5 bar Top up valves are both closed off.Ill have to get the Expansion vessel pressure checked out. Thanks again

British Gas did not close one of the valves on the filler loop and the boiler pressure kept increasing, after watching your video I checked the valves and closed the open valve. The pressure gauge remains as 1.5 bar. Thank you for the informative video.

what a great video. thanks for sharing this mate. Really helpful, quick and to the point. legend
Thank you
VERY GOOD AND CLEAR ADVICE MY BOILER GOES TO 1 BAR WHEN COLD 3 BAR WHEN 13 RADIATORS ARE HEATED WORCESTER BOSCH THANK YOU SO MUCH
Sounds like you have an issue with expansion vessel. ?
I am no Plumber but my friend had similar problem so he added a Boiler cleaner to a radiator with Inhibitor/Antifreeze and now his "at rest" pressure is 0.8 Bar and fully functioning is 1.4 Bar .. I hope this helps you. It's a MORCO GB24 Series II same as mine.

Just sorted my Baxi watching theses type of videos. Mine was Over pressurising past the relief valve.changed the valve 3 times over the last year until I Found out my expansion tank needed re pressurising. Foot pump out , pumped it up to 1bar and all sorted.
Thank you
Allen, thank you so much; you’ve really helped me not go out with a bang on the last day of 2020!
Happy new year.
I have put too much water in my boiler, I now have water dripping from the metal pipe outside will this stop when the level drops.

Thank You

Hi Allen, great video. Is it best to reduce the pressure when the central heating is off? or doesn’t it matter? Many thanks

Thanks for this. Took 1000 ml out the radiator to take it down from 3 bar to 1 bar
Top man! My system is a little bit different from the one you used as an example, but it worked all the same.
Appreciate it.
Glad it helped

Life saver i was at 4 bars and was shooting out of pipe in my external wall. Thanks alot
Hi Allen just woke up to see the pressure gage on my boiler vibrating the preasurs bouncing from 1-3 rapidly. I've drained my rads, the noise stops when I open a tap but then continues to vibrate
Most useful information i could find on the Internet. Thank you.

Even when I bleed radiators it’s staying at 3 bar mate. Any idea how to fix? Thanks
Hi Allan just a quick one but I’m refilling my combi system after a flush and was wondering how long it takes to fill all the radiators and system back up
Depends how big your system is. Thanks.
I have 8/9 radiators and have just done a full drain but not sure how long it will take to refill the whole system it’s a biggish house.
Great video very informative I have a different sort of problem trying to get hot water in my home is a total nightmare unless it's set to a trickle it goes cold really quickly and stays that way I don't know if someone has messed with the boiler previously as this a rental property could be a simple fix just unsure on how to rectify the situation

Thanks for this! Draining the radiator worked, didn't have to use the key tool, just turn the metal knob counterclockwise.
Thank you for the video, I was at 3.5bar, bleed off 1L of water went back down to 1bar. Really helped.

Big thanks and you were right about open valve, was twisted all the way wrong, opened filter valve weighted till pressure was normal, and a big thanks to you.

This was very helpful , seems to have saved me at least £100 , thanks once again
Iv bled from radiators and got the pressure down to 1 but when heating is on it’s going back up to 3 and sometimes 4
Might need a boiler service and the expansion vessel recharging. Or it could need an expansion vessel. When was the last time you had the boiler serviced? Thanks.

Hi, i have an old boiler, ideal classic FF250.... pressure gage was at one, as i didn't realize the valve i was turning was releasing water - it is not at zero.... there seems to be no other value connected to the boiler.... any ideas?
Did you sort it? what was the issue
I watched it repeatedly,nicely explained

Thank you Allen. I have only just got comfortable with topping up the pressure in my Vokera boiler when it drops. Did this this morning but put a bit too much water back in. It is now at 2. I am not sure if it is safe to restart at this pressure or whether to try to be brave and try and bleed a radiator??
Hi i lost water preasure due to a leak on rad i represurerised boiler but now boiler keeps cutting out i bled radiators but just the same do you think i have airlock still thanx
Could be an airlock yes. Thanks.
Thank you good for helping us all
Thank you! Saved boiler - & marriage! You have a gift of teaching.
And saving marriages
Using a Vaillant ecotec plus, what hapoens when the dial says 1 bar, but the boiler says 2.3. I just did all what you recommended too.
One of them is faulty, maybe get someone out to check it. Thanks
Thankyou alan
Will this method also be the reason why theres no cold running water the hot tap runs but its cold
Depends on the boiler. Some have a high pressure switch and turn off. Thanks for the comment. Happy New Year.
Happy new year alan
Its a ideal logic combi boiler
@@suzannalouise676 I cannot remember if that has a high pressure switch. Maybe someone else could comment and help out. Thanks.
Valuable information concerning bringing the pressure back down
Thanks John.
Thank you for taking the time to watch my video.
great advice as always .My workshop boiler pressure had gone up to 1.7 bar . it has been just over 1 bar for over 14 years . I took it down to 1.3 bar and will reduce it even more .Will I need to add some more inhibitor .
Good stuff
Many thanks. Had to re pressurise my boiler but it went to the red once heating kicked in. Many thanks for your video
Thank you
Hi do I turn off the boiler when doing this ? Thanks
yes
Hey, why does the pressure go up again as soon as I bleed the radiator?
