  • Steve Schmidt, a nationally recognized GOP political strategist, has advised candidates such as George W. Bush, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and John McCain. David Axelrod is an equally well-recognized Democratic political consultant, who engineered the campaigns of US Senator Paul Simon, multiple Chicago mayors, and Barack Obama. Both had a front-row seat to the making of political history, from the choice of Sarah Palin as vice presidential candidate to the eventual victory of Barack Obama. Now a policy analyst on MSNBC, Schmidt is spending fall 2014 as a Fellow at the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics, which Axelrod founded in 2013. IOP Executive Director Steve Edwards joins them for a discussion about politics and policy, and an up-to-the-minute check on the latest developments just a week before the midterm elections.
This program is presented in partnership with the Institute of Politics at the University of Chicago.

I am a retired blue collar worker...mostly self educated (being raised in poverty & hada hard row to hoe, I did work very hard all my life, got 2 yr of college in, so regretfully have not finished...yet.) I enjoy politics and have interest in that and my country of course.
I so enjoy this Republican Steve Schmidt and the other man, Mr. Axlerod (and to Mr. Plouffe(?) who I think is good friend with them...would it not be wonderful if our Washington D.C. elected officials could deal with one another this way...at least sit down and hammer out, talk? Thank you for such extraordinary programming....wl

Me too Wally! I just admire all the ones you named. But, I love and respect Steve Schmidt. He is an awesome person. He is so honest. Has so much integrity and leadership. I admire him so much, I almost started a fan page. It is still a thought.

he chose sarah palin. and is now working for howard schmidt.
I don't disagree that he said a BUNCH of correct things two years ago. but 2008 (palin) and 2019 (schmidt) might possibly show his rhetoric doesn't match your values. just an idea.
