Yashica MAT-124: Light meter test

  • I bought this Yashica MAT-124 for a bargain price because of it's broken light meter. Just to be sure I decided to check if it's really broken or it's just battery contact.

    They do still make the correct battery. The problem is finding somewhere that sells it and the restrictions in your area. Its a Wein mercury air batter that is 1.35v

      Mech-E Weincell Zinc Air batteries only last about a month though, after you start the chemical reaction with air. Silver oxide batteries last much longer, and have a minimal voltage difference. You can easily compensate exposure between 1.35v and 1.55v.
