There is actually a term for this behavior. It is called gekkering. First time I heard the term I thought someone was making it up. It is pretty much just a name for spazzing out. The term originated with baby foxes.

The term is actually macaque attack and it's something that they all do is especially when they're babies. See the reason why the babies look like they're always curled up in the fetal position is because their instinct is to latch to something and whenever that is interrupted and there is a void there they have a macaque attack. This is no temper tantrum although I understand why you would think that. that's not to say that they don't have temper tantrums that look very similar. I'm guessing that a kidnapper is at work in the monkey world rival women will take the child of a lower-ranking woman and basically starve it. Either until it dies or just simply slowing up the growing process anyting to make their baby better. It seems cruel to us but this is the way it's been for hundreds of thousands of years and this hierarchy was decided that long ago

@@lordofreason549 I've been thinking a lot about this lately. Best case scenario, it's because we've a lot in common with chimps, which are an ape; not a monkey. Chimps will bash and even eat monkeys so maybe that's why.
Otherwise, I just enjoy monkey suffering, even though I'm not totally okay with it. Lol! This probably isn't a healthy way for people to be unwinding. Myself included.

I agree with you. I don't think it was a tantrum. It looked like it was scared beyond measure. It keeps trying to escape into the small crevice in the rock. Was there a photographer too close and frightened the baby? Too many times I see videographers get too close and you can see their anxiety/fear on their faces and their reaction. As videogeaphers increase and I daresay they do it for profit; we are going to see the primates change over time. Anyone doing this should get a long range lens so that they do not invade the primates "PERSONAL" SPACE. The monkeys are not a limitless commodity. PLEASE RESPECT THEIR homes, which btw are the trees, rocks and grasslands. Your photos will be just as good and perhaps there wouldn't be as many fatal injuries.

These monkeys, not the baby babies, but these small in between infant and on their own...are soooo tempermental.some of them scream and throw tantrums constantly if they cant nurse or are left for 1 sec alone!
