- Axial Wraith Kit Build in Action. Finally got a chance to shoot some video of my Wraith on the trails. This build was documented step by step on Axial's Blog. I recently added 4 wheel steering. Running Futaba 4PK radio, and dual S9157 servos, Tekin RS Pro with 10.5t Redline motor and 2S Lipo. Axial diff covers, HD servo horns, aluminum knuckles and C-hubs and HD high clearance upper links.

Thanks. I don't run wheel weights, but I have switched to aluminum wheels since shooting this video. The rear steer is controlled by the 3rd channel on my Futaba 4PK radio.
Good stuff Bender, I'm impressed that a 10.5 will crawl that well.
Thanks for the compliment on the video. The 4ws is controlled separately from the front via the 3rd channel on my 4PK. You won't have variable control, like the front. It has to be set-up for full throw, or you can program it to be incremental.

You would need a 3 channel radio with a 3 position switch for the 3rd channel, and an extra servo for the rear axle. Depending on the batteries and servos used, a BEC may be required too.
i used a Punk RC computer for my 4WS. Its hooked up to me 3rd channel 3 position switch. 1 is 4WS, 2 is crab steer, and 3 is front steer only. Works perfect and you can even hook them up with a 2 channel radio. i also did the RC4WD 2 speed tranny and it is amazing. 1st gear is way lower than stock for crawling and 2nd gear is way higher for rallying. Probably my favorite upgrade.

Not sure of the cost off-hand, but you will need the inner dog bones, outer drive cups, knuckles, C-hubs, bearings, kingpin sleeves, screws for the kingpins, servo plate, servo linkage, servo horn, and a decent servo.

@2403328 I am not sure on the price, as I pieced it together. They don't officially offer a 4WS steer "kit" that I know of. You basically need to convert the rear axle to a front by buying the knuckles, c-hubs, inner CVD's, servo plate, etc.

I haven't tried 3S yet. It does quite well right now with just the 2S packs.

@mattyjulien Thanks! I relocated the battery to the front, it is now underneath the hood. I am running a 5300mah 2S lipo. You can't buy a 4ws kit from Axial ready to go, but you can piece one together. Check out Axial's blog, there is a step by step build on this Wraith there.
I can get a good 45 minutes of bashing around with a 2S 5300mah pack. It really depends on how aggressively you drive it. Low speed crawling will net more run time than high speed bashing, so run times do vary.

@rcfreak69lol No, I just converted the rear axle to a front axle. If you ditch the rear lockouts and axle shafts, you can replace them with Wraith inner CVD axles, c-hubs and knuckles. Add the servo mount and you are good to go.

I am using a Futaba 4PK, it is a 4 channel pistol grip radio.
@timmyahhh It is a sensored brushless motor, which have different ratings than the brushed motors. A 35t motor will work great too, especially with a 3S lipo, but probably won't quite have the wheelspeed this Wraith has.

A few questions, what size battery are you running and where did you re-locate it to since it isnt in the rear battery tray? And was the 4 wheel steering a kit you could buy from axial? Sick video man that thing slays!

@BenderCustoms So you can crawl with the 10.5t brushless motor but it's not as easy/controlled setup as brushed? I put the 35t system in mine and it's a big improvement over the stock 20t but wheel speed is slower. FXR esc 35t Tekin 5000mah 40c lipo.
I am wanting to do a 4WS conversion on my Wraith. I want to upgrade to aluminum axles anyway, couldn't I just buy 2 complete front axles, swap the diff gears around in the axle going in the rear and be done?
I have a 4 channel tq traxxas controler but the three channel switch only goes left or right and not center
And on my wraith im runnin a dual motor both are 55t an the gen 3 slipper clutch the thing crawls like crazy
You should replace all your links with titanium a ton more control..mine's set up with 4WS and all alloy drive train. good job like your attitude
