Wow, very humbling. I wonder if getting a great split ( leg split ? Sorry I am not an english speaker ) is mandatory for this technique. It seems out of my league.
Super good commentary. I've always struggled trying to figure out how soon to turn and how to make the best entry. I also noticed that he approaches the wall at an angle, which makes a lot of sense in retrospect haha
Is Maruyama good example of strength and conditioning of japanese players? The casual way of getting the sweeping leg that high up with that much force, power and control ....and on top of that using his upper body as counterweight...
What I learned from this video is that I need to do more stretching.
Lots more stretching LOL.
You are absolutely brilliant Travis
Thanks Chadi!
I also noticed that is first step and his second step hit the mat at the same time. Amazing judoka! I hope he'll go to the olympics in Tokyo
This type of training for Uchi Mata is really important.... Bravo travis,💪
I agree it's a great starting point for a lot of people!
A ha! My gymnastics splits training is meaningful for judo. great! Will keep working

Nice ! I look forward to more breakdowns of Solo drills !
Maybe it's time for me to shoot some more solo drills for people at home!
I use the parallel bars in my gym.
100 reps a day.
Nice!
Great help, there are no excuses to not do at least something in pandemia.
There is always something you can do to get better!

Agreed!!!
Whats url for the original video?
Doesn’t one run the risk of a “low blow” on uke during randori?
No because Tori's leg is straight so he throws with the thigh and hip. You only hit some one there when you cut it short and lift with the heel.
Travis Stevens ah that makes sense! Thanks for the reply Sensei
How many rep per day ?
To be efficient in uchi mata ..
It really depends on where your starting but a safe number to go with is 200-500 per day.
Does anyone have a link to the original video of Maruyama?
Its on Maruyama's instagram
