My condolences, that is indeed a tragic event no man shall ever witness during their transient experience on this enormous rock orbiting a giant mass where nuclear reactions occur.
What an absolutely lovely version. A recording of my Dad singing this was played at my mums funeral a while back, along with a tune called 'Return To Me' - which my Dad sang for years at 'Free 'n easy's' (remember them?!!). Timeless classic songs. Both of them.
Eric's voice only kept growing better. His playing too, using his fingers to pluck the strings more and more. He is not afraid to play simple, which is harder than it sounds. His electric solo here sounds so much like Santana it's mindblowing!
Saw Eric Clapton in Nashville in 1990 one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen. He’s absolutely amazing. Thank you for sharing this beautiful song. Love the way Eric sings it. But as much as I love Eric and God knows I do. But the most beautiful version ive ever heard is Eva Cassidy sing it. Her voice goes straight into my soul. If you haven’t heard her. Everyone should listen to her version of this beautiful song 🍂🍁

The original, French lyrics to this are extremely tragic, and this version reflects them more than any other I have heard, especially the instrumental ending.
I feels like cozy swing jazz .. I love this song♡♡ coz I listen this song frequently specially in autumn season!! thanks Eric for you sang this sweet song!!
+galling108 you need to listen to the Eva cassidy version. Mr Calpton became a huge fan of hers and recorded this and Over the Rainbow as a tip of his hat to her versions. Sting and his wife have said that Cassidy's version of Fields of Gold is the best ever, which it is. It was generous of Mr Clapton to record both songs. Adelle idolized Eva when she was growing up as just did just every youn UK femaile singer in the early 2000's after they discovered her.
Thanks for all these informations .The artists you talk about are precious talents and for the jazz guitar player I am they give the essentials through their musicianship and great melodic feeling .
+Steven Garfinkel Yes, I have listen to the Eva Cassidy version. But I still prefer Mr. Clapton's; his deep melancholic voice is really perfect to express the mood and lyric of this song. What's more, his guitar interpretation is second to none.
I still think Eric Clapton's version is overrated! Try the (good old) Nat King Cole with his silky voice and his piano playing I like much better than this rather lame version! :D

LÁ THU I try to turn this poem into Vietnamese freely. Have a nice day.

Autumn leaves fall and are swept out of sight
The words that you said have gone too
Autumn leaves fall and are swept out of sight
So are the memories of love that we knew
The wind of forgetfulness blows then
Into the night of regret,
The song you would often sing
Is echoing, echoing yet
The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sun-burned hands I used to hold
Since you went away, the days grow long
And soon, I'll hear old winter's song
But I'll miss you most of all, my darling,
When autumn leaves start to fall
When autumn leaves start to fall
A lovely old jazz standard performed with the class we have come to expect every time from Eric Clapton! Thanks for posting, Andrew

I really liked eric claptons version of the autumn leaves . He has given it a modern twist and its very beautiful.
My Xbox died 12/03/2007 it got the red ring of death after I spilt water on it. I was only 12 at the time and it was the worst day of my life and I still remember it like it was yesterday. #RIPXbox you will be missed.
" But I miss you, most of all... my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall "
He is my favorite singer. Because his song is a howling of my soul. Thanks!
One of the best renditions of this timeless classic.

Clapton has that rare Midas touch... everything he sings turns to gold...
It's amazing reading these comments, the comments are full of beautiful words about this song.

One of my mom's favorite songs. Had it played at her funeral, as we had promised we would, though THIS version is much better! She'd have loved this!
My deepest condolences to you for your loss.
@@johntapp7232 Thank you. You're very kind!

This is the best interpretation of Autumn Leaves I have ever heard..What a great musician you are, Eric Clapton!
+galling108 ABSOLUTELY ONE OF THE BEST
+galling108 you need to listen to the Eva cassidy version. Mr Calpton became a huge fan of hers and recorded this and Over the Rainbow as a tip of his hat to her versions. Sting and his wife have said that Cassidy's version of Fields of Gold is the best ever, which it is. It was generous of Mr Clapton to record both songs. Adelle idolized Eva when she was growing up as just did just every youn UK femaile singer in the early 2000's after they discovered her.
Thanks for all these informations .The
artists you talk about are precious talents
and for the jazz guitar player I am they
give the essentials through their musicianship
and great melodic feeling .
The most beautiful version of this song ever.I never get sick of it.Eric sings it and plays it perfectly.

My deepest condolences to you for your loss. Was 1950 the year he was born, or was it the year he passed away? My Dad was born 1943 June 10. He died 1970 November 19. My mother: 1939 April 14-2003 June 4.
What a wonderful treat, to stumble across this version, by accident.
I would love Eric Clapton do an album of jazz standard with some blues laced in it just like this one.
The Yardbirds.
Alex Griffin

LÁ THU
I try to turn this poem into Vietnamese freely.
Have a nice day.

Wow
I was killed by that solo.
Thks Mr. Clapton
I didn't think he had it in him. Instant classic. This proves his depth and maturity so. I am shocked and can't stop listening. Yes I miss her most of all, after all these years, those eyes of green burned a hole in my soul....
My deepest condolences to you for your loss.

Extremely well done. Nice to see the mellow jazz side of the man who gave us concerts with songs like "Crossroad."
