I love Sera she's the best for oh so many reasons, but among them she is always in my party and is generally the last man standing when everyone else in the party falters. She is a force to be reckoned with, like a one woman army powerhouse.
My favourite things about Inquisition were the tavern songs and the party banter. While none of the banter was quite as good as Morrigan/Sten, Morrigan/Leliana or Morrigan/Alistair, it was very good and gave me numerous laugh out loud moments. Especially Sera and Blackwall. But the tavern songs were all amazing. I've been listening to them on repeat all week while walking to work.
Because other as DRAGON AGE ORIGINS this was not a very sophisticated game even though the DLCs had been interesting but not much difference to other Fantasy RPGy like for example GOTHIC 3

I think a lot of the reasons people don't like her is that she doesn't really mesh with the setting of Dragon Age and it seems like they tried too hard to make her not-your-typical-elf. "Okay she's an archer but she doesn't have ridiculous supermodel good looks like other elves, oh and she doesn't really care about the elves history and culture." Well why make her an elf at all then? If she had been a human it wouldn't have changed much. Then there's her comic-relief side that, again, doesn't mesh. Sure other characters are funny, but in a way that makes sense for the character and setting: Iron Bull is a tough mercenary captain and his humour reflects that. Varric is an author and a businessman and his humour reflects that. Dorian is a highly educated, nobleman with a flair for the dramatic and his humour reflects that. Sera is an outlaw guardian of the common people and her humour is... lol random, doodle on Inquisition reports and pull pranks on everyone. It just doesn't fit and makes her come across as childish, like a toddler with arrows. Overall she just undercuts the whole tone of the game. Like I said, I don't really hate her I just think that the writers were too focused on creating a character that didn't adhere to expectations that they forgot to make her still make sense.

I always supported Sarah's idle-progressive nature rather than Solas's arrogant traditional ways that, let's be honest, at the end of the first quarter we all knew he was more powerful than he let on. Yet he's an arrogant elf who wants to rewrite wrongs! EA makes some of the best side-characters but abominable mains.
She is a party member in Dragon Age Inquisition, you find by progressing the story until you reach Val-Royaux, and when you walk away from the clerics a arrow will hit the ground in front of you, go to the docks, the restaurant, then fast travel to the last one on another level, then fast travel to “back alley” and fight the people, you go through a door and find a noble who wants to kill you, Sera (the person who fired the arrow) comes through the door and says “just say ‘what’” Noble:what is the- Noble: grunt from arrow going through his cheek Then more mercs arrive, kill them then you can recruit her She is also a lesbian romance option
I never did much care for this game. Played it through once, because the story was good enough to keep me from being bored after spending $50 on it, and I wanted get my money's worth at least. I did not like any of the characters very much either, but this song, and even to a lesser degree Sera herself was an exception. This song just keeps bringing me back to that story. IMO it is a shame that the characters weren't better written because the plot wasn't all that bad, I just disliked the characters in the story.
To be fair, I did go in with the expectations that I would get medieval compliments to the Mass Effect crew. I suppose the bar was far too high. On the other hand, I very much liked the crew from both Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2. Sera was about the only new character (I always liked Varic) that didn't end up completely repulsing me at some point, and when compared to the crew of the Normandy, Sera would only be middle of the road good. Better than Jacob, Kaiden, or Ashley, but only about as good as Vega, or Samara. Nor where near as good as the first crew of the SR2. Not at all good enough to lick the boots of the alien crew of the SR1. Something tells me Sera, Isabella and Oghren would get along wonderfully, and I wish we could have seen these characters interact with one another.
RicoLen1 i agree: the characters from the first two games were much better. i absolutely loved Sera, Isabela, and Zevran. Leliana was my all time favorite for some reason but im a bit underwhelmed with her character in Inquisition. still love her tho.

Anders act at the end of two was disappointing to me because it just proved once again that mages are complete idiots in this game unless they're Morrigan. She's literally the only NPC mage I've seen in the series that had any amount of common sense, and moreover was wise as they come. Her conversations with Leliana were epic, and nothing pleased me more than threatening the reverend mother in the chantry in Lothering as the Warden with Morrigan in my group. I respect everything about Morrigan and her ability to control her magic without ever feeling guilty about defying the chantry, nor ever having any problems holding back the demons. The fact that she openly mocks and laughs at the chantries beliefs about magic makes me happy. If she could just rid herself of her Mommy issues she'd be the perfect woman for me.
