Your job is amazing you are a professional in this already. Lol see your videos made me so sad cuz I wanted to build my own table hahaha e no tools lmao
You are a really good builder. I am jealous of how easy you make the sprayer look to use. I bought one and had a terrible time. No good step by step videos of sprayer and compressor setup. I’m 58 years old and just learning how to Diy.
Very nice job. You are right. Building farmhouse style furniture is pretty easy, but giving it that professional look is a bit more of a challenge. You make it look easy.
🎉🎉 You make good furniture, I am going to buy all your plans because I want to make some for my house and I have learned many things with people like you. My respects. Thank you.
Nice. Those offsets with the joinery are a real plus. Thanks for the insight. Usually spend too much time fussing over the alignment when this looks better anyway. God Bless.
Really nice design, John! Using dowels to align the top during glue up (and in general), is a lot of work but the results speak for themselves! Pretty impressive for one of the cheaper doweling jigs. Love that grayish stain. Tempted to get your plan to make a scaled down version (3x5) for my patio.
Thanks man! There’s actually a pretty big overhang here all around the top, so you may be able to just keep the base dimensions the same for a 3x5 top!
ello Jon good job you are a person who makes a living doing many things I like looking at people like you I wish you the best one question what is the cost of a table like yours
Thanks for wise tips about the drink straw and the offsets. Liking the unfussy lines with a fine finish vibe on this. My hub is beyond glad that the too-long trended mashups of chippy/streaky/roughed surfaces is so over, especially in the upscale custom new builds/renos. I'll give the water-based Emtech a try on a mini shuffleboard. The traditional lacquer cures slow, is loads pungent for awhile, wearing a paper suit is a hassle, and sprayer cleaning after is a big bite👎. Haha...Easy Button😆!!!
The beauty of this table and bench is really in the simplicity of the design! Great attention to detail. I appreciate how you use simple joinery methods, but do them well.. if I know a project will be painted, I try to use a very small chamfer on butt joints to help mitigate some of the inevitable cracking you mentioned earlier. Great build, John! I know the client was thrilled with the final product!
I love my laguna planer Px16 and was going to get their jointer but came across a 10 inch felder hammer unit and its been awesome. Largely got the laguna based on your recommendations and illustrations of its use. Thank you
Gorgeous work! I've used the Rockler dowel jig for joining boards and can say it's definitely worth buying. I only have the 3/8" jig and it's definitely sufficient, I just have to use more dowels. I like using the Kreg face clamp to hold it in place.
Nice to see how far you have come in such a short time. I still remember watching your Duststopper comparison video as I was exploring that topic for the first time! One topic suggestion would be your setup for the spray booth in the middle of your garage and if you ever get over spray outside of the booth or if it does a really good job of containing it all. I have a new garage workshop that needs to be a home for cars too and I really want to try spraying but am paranoid about not containing it even though I know that the droplets that don't hit the target dry fairly quickly.
Yea I need to! They’re ZipWall poles though and there’s a link in the description if you want to check it out. Really quick to set up! But yea any overspray for me just turns to dust before it lands on anything
@@JohnBuildsIt Thanks for the reply! That's what I assumed you were using. I will wait for the video if you ever get to it, but would be interested about the setup, do you need to worry about ceiling or just 4 walls and the floor? Also the fan / filter placement, etc. I know there are other videos on the topic but how quick you can set it up, knock it down, and any tips or tricks you have learned along the way would be very helpful!
I like the use of the dowels for joinery. I have pantry drawers on the list in the coming weeks. I was going to use pocket holes but wonder if the wooden dowels would work…?
I have a few Festool products that I love. But a good dowel jig and biscuit joiner I feel replaces virtually everything a domino can do, for a quarter the price. Beautiful table Jon!
Awesome Job John, this table is absolutely beautiful! I built a dining room table at the beginning of 2020, but thinking Ill sell that one and make this one! Thanks for the inspiration!
Nice build! You've upgraded a bit from that old Ridgid table saw! I poured my concrete kitchen countertops last summer, inspired by your ZForm video. I couldn't have done it without you! Love your stuff! Maybe I'll be able to replace my old ghetto Ridgid too some time soon 😂
@@JohnBuildsIt I watched again and saw it in the background 🤣 It's pretty decent, all things considered but I'd love me a SawStop! Keep the awesome vids coming, love your content!
@@JohnBuildsIt Hey im curious, what program do you use to make ur plans? I have had a few ppl ask if i make plans for my projects but unfortunately i just have the diagrams from my sketchup files.
Fantastic. You’re have some the more expensive tools. If you got them use the, if not make do with what you have. Remember that great woodworking was going on before we had electric motors. One hint for future projects, a little blue loctite ob thos screw in leveling screws will keep them from changing over time.
Can you do a video on your "paint booth" setup. I have to spray all my projects outside which leads to wind deflection and extra sanding. Your setup seems like it's way better
Turned out real nice. Enjoy watching different ways to glue up. Love that equipment you have, looked up those Laguna planers. Would love to have a 20" one day. Keep the videos coming.
Thank you John - Great Craftmanship! I just purchased your plans - BTW, has anyone ever said your side profile resembles Jonathan Toews from the Chicago Blackhawks. 👍
Looks great! When I first saw the thumbnail I thought to myself “I wonder if he knows there are more colors on the color wheel than grey and white” 😂😂 seriously though, looks fantastic! Probably heavy as hell too 😳
Love this table want to try out using dowels just like you did. Question for on the 45 degree braces on the table legs…do you think just using dowels in place of the screws would problematic? Thanks for the video!
Great job John! I always get inspired to get into the shop to make something after watching your videos. Do you have a link for the adjustable padded feet? cheers!
Nice! I’m really happy with your build video and use of dowels. Planning on doing a very similar build with my son using 8/4 ambrosia maple from our own piece of PA woods. Can I ask what brand that doweling jig is? I Like its simplicity and accuracy. And it will save me buying a biscuit joiner for now.

Yea it can be quite a learning curve. I always practice on cardboard or scrap wood when first spraying a new product
I got a plan to build an outdoor dining table for 8 people, so your instruction are of great help. Thanking you from New Zealand.
Thanks for watching!
Very nice job. You are right. Building farmhouse style furniture is pretty easy, but giving it that professional look is a bit more of a challenge. You make it look easy.

You sir are a true craftsman...
I appreciate that!!

Most valuable thing I picked up in this video…. the straw/glue hack. Awesome!
Works great!!
Nice. Those offsets with the joinery are a real plus. Thanks for the insight. Usually spend too much time fussing over the alignment when this looks better anyway. God Bless.
I agree! Thanks man 👊🏼
That table and bench are absolutely perfect! Amazing job.
Thanks a lot! 🙌🏼
Love the design, not only from a personal perspective, but also as a woodworker :)
Thanks man!
Simple design but very well executed build. Turned out beautiful.

Haha give it a try! Personally love using water based finishes for nearly everything now
another awesome build! love the color of that stain...
Me too! I was dreading it since it’s maple, but turned out pretty good!
I hope your client liked the table. Beautiful. Will last forever.
Very nice work sir. I bought some 4 x 4 to practice
Beautiful! Can’t wait to see it in the house!
Thank you!!
Awesome work. Will be purchasing your plans soon. Need to build a 40 inch wide 96 long dinning table
Thanks for watching!!
Very nice! Good pace to the video, not too slow, not too fast.
Good to hear, thanks!!
Once again, beautiful work!
Thank you!!
Beautiful table! Love the idea of using that foam so you don't cut into your work bench too. I may need to steal that one. LOL
Gorgeous table!
Thank you!
Love it. Your precision is mesmerising
Thank you!!
Thank you for showing how a farmhouse table can doesn't have to be rustic!

Haha sure would be nice!
Wow, what a beautiful piece of work!

Thanks, great video and exactly what I was looking for to help take my work to the next level.
Thanks for watching!!
Molto bravo a volte la semplicità risulta essere molto elegante!
A fantastic video on producing a great piece of work.
Thank you!!
Keep ‘em coming! I love your designs! So much so I tweaked your queen bed design and built my 3 year old daughter’s “big girl bed” twin sized!
Awesome man!
beautiful. great craftmanship. thanks for sharing.

Wow! The table turned out beautiful, great work!!
Thanks I appreciate it!
Great video. Thank you for not using construction lumber.

Nice! Everyone seems to have nothing but good things to say about Felder too
Nice! I like the tip on the floor levelers I been using the corny plastic sleeves that come with them. I like yours better
Yea the felt is awesome for wood floors!
The ones you used looked really nice. Do you happen to have a link to them? I haven’t been able to find anything that nice only the cheesy ones. lol
Good work. Learning a lot from your videos. Thank you

Absolutely! Although I do have a domino and ets 150 on order.. if they ever show up! Haha
Fantastic job 👍👍
Thank you!
John that finish though. It looks like glass. Very nicely done!
Thank you! Good products make it easy!
Just beautiful!
Thank you! 🙌🏼
Looks great! I might have to build one.
Thanks man!
First time visitor from the UK. Magnificent work and loved the finished product. I think I need to subscribe to your channel 🙂

Beautiful table !! I really love the finish.
Thank you!!
Damn that's beautiful, great job. Super jealous of that shop too.
Thank you! 👊🏼
That is a beautiful well made table 👍🏼
I appreciate it!
Looks great dude! I love the Enduro Clear Poly. I use it on almost everything. It always turns out super nice.
Sure does! I may try out the emtech clear since the base turned out so well. It’s hard to change up something you know is great though haha
REALY NICE

Really nice table.

That’s a damn fine looking table. Rustic, but not. The finish/sheen on the base is 🤌, and the table top is 🔥.

At 4:09, is that just a “make sure you drill straight holes” jig? Seems so simple yet useful.
Yep, works great!
Looks great thanks for sharing
Thank you!
Amazing build!!👏👏🙌🙌❤️
Thank you!
Nice! About to build a hickory table for my sister....was debating metal legs again, after seeing this I might try wood legs this time!

I got those locally at Menards if you have one in your area. Biggest I could find on Amazon at the time was 1 1/4”
Unfortunately there’s no menards in Canada. Maybe Home Depot or Lee Valley
Hi there,
Great work!
What color did you use for the tabletop?
Thank you!
I believe it was smoke grey or something like that, can’t remember exactly sorry! It’s from sherwin Williams though

Not sure which one you’re referring to but they’re all linked in the video description 👍🏽 I primarily just use the milescraft drill block
