Growing up in South Carolina in the 60's and 70's, quartet music was a norm. One of the first groups I became acquainted with was the Dixie Hummingbirds, gospel or otherwise. They have always been one of my favorites ❤ I can't express what they have meant to me over the years.
"In the beginning, after the word, before rock 'n' roll, and before there was rap, hip-hop, disco, punk, funk, metal, soul, Motown, rock-a-billy, before bebop, doo-wop, and the big band swing, there was the Dixie Hummingbirds. The mighty Dixie Hummingbirds."
Will just contacted me with the news the other day. I couldn't believe it. I am sure we have more video of Lyndon from our travels with Dixie Hummingbirds. I am very sorry to hear Lyndon passed.
@@Video4dvd Yesssss it has been a shock to us as well. Thank you so much for sharing this historic Gospel quartet. I look forward to seeing more from your page.
@@ddwhittaker We have not been able to post comments on Lyndon's FB page. If you send me your email I will send more video links that maybe you can distribute?
@@herberthunter5570 Four singers. 1 instrument. Howard Carroll on guitar. My friend, my teacher, my mentor. I miss Brother Howard SO MUCH. In my opinion, Howard Carroll was the greatest guitar player of the 20th century. Way ahead of Les Paul (who could not play. Lester just noodled and built garbage guitars. Mary Ford was better). Django Rhienhart (sp? SORRY!) better soloist. But Howard played every instrument and sang. And he did it all at once. Live. On stage.
At 16:24 does anyone know what building they are in or house? Because I see all the great pictures of gospel artist and I see the Davis Sisters. Is this building like a museum where you can go visit or something? Please let me know
If I only had the chance to grow up with Pop, I would have learned a lot from him to have been able to help carry on the legacy. However, I became lazy and didn't pursue the opportunity to work with my father. R.I.P Ira B. Tucker 1925-2008.
My FAVORITE male Quartet Gospel groups of all time!😊💙S.I.P. to those who passed on.
