English Civil War was my entry point to The Clash. I was aware of the obvious stuff such as Should I Stay or Should I Go, London Calling and Rock the Casbah, but it took The Levellers (who I was a big fan of at the time) covering English Civil War to dive deeper.
Thanks mate, enjoyed that. But I must fly a flag for "Remote Control." Along with "Hate and War" in the early days, it was called a "mini opera" by Mick Jones who was expanding as a song-writer post Keith Levine. As an original fan, these 2 tracks have aged as well as any Clash songs for me. The lyrics to Remote Control are as relevant today as back then and are arguably the Clash's most cogent punk lyrics ever. The epic refrain of 'repression' can be aimed at Tories, oligarchs, central banks, real estate investors, and transnational corporations today.

@dmerls8571 no arguments with your points there buddy, my criticism was not of the song but only of it being a single.
