    “Radio Clash” is a pretty great song along these lines. There’s no other like the Clash.

    Great reaction as usual, thank you!😊 This is one of the Clash songs I've listened to most over the years...I never get tired of it.
    It's "Strummer" (you got it right) as in strumming. Joe was born John Graham Mellor and changed his name in his 20's. An article by Pennie Smith says "In the summer of 1974 Mellor returned to London and settled in a squat at 101 Walterton Road, West Kilburn. Several other musicians were also resident and a band was formed-the 101ers. As a bonding exercise the group came up with new names for themselves. Mellor became Joe Strummer, the everyman troubadour-'six strings or none at all'."

    Another great concert story I have took place at a Clash concert. I made my way down pretty close to the stage and at the time slam dancing was the rage. I was getting thrown around and slammed like a rag doll. I remember thinking in my head I have 2 little kids at home and I’m gonna die. Just then I guy I knew from my neighborhood grabbed me out of the crowd and I was safe. It was a great show and they did play this. That was in 1982. ✌️♥️🎶

    Strummer is nicknamed Saint Joe because he shunned materialism and was playing on the streets and helping people in need, not keeping wealth 🤘🕊️🌍⚖️💪🎸📣

    As a teen, Strummer was nicknamed Woody. For Woody Guthrie, the great leftist songwriter of This Land Is Your Land✌️📣

    You might want to check out Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros. This was the project Joe was part of when he passed. They have some really good songs. Maybe start with Johnny Appleseed.

    To complete the circle of Bruce, Clash and Rage. Rage recorded a Springsteen cover, The Ghost of Tom Joad.

    The Clash, British were influenced by Regagae, as that was current youth music to Punk. Bob Marley name-checked The Clash in “Punky Reggae Party”. There is a Clash song by the Clash, “safe European home” about going to Jamaica and realizing life was quite different.
    When The Clash came to America, they recognized early Rap, as current music -like Grand Master Flash. Blondie’ doing “Rapture” at the same time, acknowledging the new vibe. The Clash, evolved in sound, yet kept their Punk ideals.

    Shawn, you are going to love "Clampdown" when you play it. A different feel from "The Magnificent Seven", but just as killer of a tune.

    Live version on From Here to Eternity is worth hearing... the studio version feels slightly sterile and self-conscious (as is almost unavoidable in any band)

    Even The Clash was mostly a punk band, their rage comes with sarcasm and comedy, not with an open rage as for RATM. These bands I like a lot. If you want you can check "Know your rights" by The Clash, it's my fav song by them.
    Thx for sharing your reaction.

    The Magnificent Seven, Western, based on Japanese Samurai film “The Seven Samurai”

  • @bobschenkel7921
    @bobschenkel7921 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    A small correction. The original movie "The Magnificent Seven" was released in 1966, and starred Steve McQueen, Yul Bryner, James Coburn, Charles Bronson and Robert Vaughn, and was based on the Akira Kurosawa Directed Japanese Samurai movie "Seven Samurai". The 2016 remake was vastly inferior to the original.

      The Group of Seven (G7) is an informal grouping of seven of the world's advanced economies, including Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as the European Union. These are "The Magnificent Seven" this song refers to.

    I hesitate to write 'rap', but it's miles better than most modern rap, of course.
