All these amazing funk bands from the 70s don't get enough airplay anymore, especially not in mainstream America. Ohio Players, Commodores, AWB, War, Parliament/Funkadelics, Isley Brothers, Sly and the Family Stone, B.T. Express, Rufus and Chaka Khan, Labelle, Kool and the Gang, Minnie Riperton, and my all-time favorite Earth, Wind and Fire. These bands will always be an enduring part of me. So much joy, power, and unbridled sensuality.
@@外人癡 I had 6th row center tickets for Santana and Earth, Wind, and Fire this coming weekend at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater in Tinley Park, IL but had to sell them because I had emergency surgery on my foot and can't walk on it and need to keep it propped up on pillows. I could just cry.
I think heaven was being a child growing up on this music and watching the grown folks have a good time while the children play. The family structure was strong back in these days. What happened? My heart breaks a little each time I listen to this song because I know that todays world has lost it's way. Wake up America!
Your comment is so true. I love those days and miss it so much. People were friendly there was love in the families neighbors sit on the porch and watch the children play we had fun people wasn't kill each other like they do today. We are together. We had fun there was not hate.
@@derwinlowery So true. But the way I bring it back to life, when I play my vinyls, cassettes, I even have a few 8 tracks. I'm also thankful for the internet for bringing TH-cam through the tube so I can look at concerts and see some of the musicians I never seen in person and the ones I have seen. With a glass of wine.
The 1970's was a beautiful time back then compare to now !!! If there's anyone with a Mothership that can travel back to that time, I'm aboard for the ride !!!
🎶 Heaven Is You! 🎶 God, this song sends chills up and down my spine! Wrap your love around me! I love and miss "The Ohio Players!" One of the most iconic bands from the 70's!💞
Songs today can't touch this! Notice the 'jazz' chords and the way the pianist is 'comping'. Also, the flutes and strings swaying in the background. Man, I always go back to this era (the 70's). Real music, real instruments, no auto tune........and the last chord....pure jazz!
Heaven Must Be Like This this song is still a good song No matter how much time I was 15 years old when this song came out I'm 57 and I'm Still rocking like yesterday rest in peace Sugarfoot
This group was incredible. I was knee-high chuck to a pup but I loved looking at those albums with that naked bald-headed chic. I know I was not the only kid intrigued with those albums. Just keeping it real.
Daaaaaaaaaaaaayum! Everything on this song jams. The bass is funky as hell, the piano is silky smooth, rim shot too crisp and vocals r like butta! OP has a sound that influenced SO many acts. (cameo, other live bands and artists singing/playing styles) And to think the basically went into the studio with a clean slate and just jammed. TRUE SOUL MUST BE LIKE THIS. IT MUST BE LIKE THIS. And ya gots ta love that afro, baby!

Much love and respect to the Ohio Players!🙏👍💪

These guys were awesome, but they never really got their "just due" from mainstream media in America. I grew up listening to their music, it is still great in today's world when new music like this is rear. Now, that I'm the "Big 60", I mainly like the song smooth jazz sounds they also produced. Songs like "Heaven Must Be Like This, Sweet Sticky Thing, Honey, I Want To Be Free" and a few more that are out there.
Just so many great bands at the time. Lotta really good bands never got exposure to the national audience. If you had friends to introduce you to the music you were lucky !!! I know that I was extremely lucky to be best friends with the nephew of the Commodores manager. Even they didn't get the same respect for the music as did Stevie , The Jacksons or Earth Wind and Fire .

Sugarfoot not only couldn't keep up with the lyrics, but he wasn't bit more playing that guitar than I am LOL. Just holding it and profiling LOL. But I soooo love The Ohio Players. RIP Sugarfoot :-)

Billy Beck was so smooth on those boards and i think he still tours, i recently had a conversation about great falsetto vocalists and i brought up Billy because he had a damn good falsetto with range.

Billy Beck on keyboards, Marshall "Rock" Jones on that bassline MADE this song and of course, Sugar on lead vocals! Classic cut!
Billy's piano and keyboard work on this thing is BEAUTIFUL

This is why the Ohio Players were a BAND, not a GROUP. Groups just sing and dance but BANDS did it ALL...and these cats were THE BOMB.
Right On😊

Real singers, real instruments, real talent and no AutoTune--ya gotta love it!!
Man, this is probably their best song. This group is so under-rated.
Underrated? Man they were one of the lost sought after most popular bands of the early to mid 70’a!!

SO underrated!! 👍🏽
I grew up with them they were great!!!
What it is - my favourite track. The bass line is insane
This is what is called good music where you can hear all the instruments playing. Skills
