    What about foliage fertilization for bonsai? I have been using NPK spray mixed in water. It's working great for my ficus.

    • @Gbhmagic
      @Gbhmagic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Foliage absorption is really low. Imho. I used synthetic granules for my ficus. Only because im in a very cold climate and using organic indoors is asking for bugs.. osmacote is what i used or bougain if i had bougainvillea. But i sold my ficus as it was seriously expensive running lights for 8 to 9 months out of the year.

      @@Gbhmagic oh, I live in India. It's really growing wild as I have been putting it in full hot summer sun afternoon. I water it 3 times a week and mist the leaves everyday. However I spray NPK 19-19-19 diluted with water almost 5times a week. And it's growing crazy.

    I'm kinda new to the bonsai world. Is the bonsai food the exact same thing as the fertiliser or should they be getting both?

    • @bonsaiempire
      @bonsaiempire  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What do you mean with food? Trees need light, water and carbon dioxide - this is the food of plants :)

    Was that a water jasmine near the end? The leaves look soo green and saturated. I have a little one, that has yellowish leaves with visible veins. Trying to get it to look more vigorous.

    I have an organic liquid fertilizer with NPK 3-2-4 (from Pokon), which seems about half of the stuff you're recommending. Does this mean I need to use more of it, or should I put this fertilizer away and buy a new one?

    • @bonsaiempire
      @bonsaiempire  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No you can use it, just follow the guidelines as stated on the packaging - dont double up!

    I like watering my indoor bonsai with superthrive or use slow release pellets. My outdoor plants I prefer to use fish manure or worm castings diluted in rainwater once a week.

  • @thetruthchannel7073

    Can you recommend how frequently do you fertilise bonsai trees using liquid fertiliser it's so inconsistent on the internet so much confusion and so much contradiction some say once a week some say every two weeks some say every month in the growing season can you give any advice ?? Thanks

    • @bonsaiempire
      @bonsaiempire  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats probably because it depends on your product, any fertilizer can be different and should be applied in different quantities as well. So make sure to check your product and follow its guidelines. As a rule of thumb, and at the risk of generalizing - most liquid fertilizers we use are applied every 3-4 weeks in the growing season (early spring, til late fall).

    To make good bonsai , we must know about biologi: botani , horticultura ,

  • @Gbhmagic
    @Gbhmagic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I make my own fertilizer as Bio Gold is very expensive in the quantities i would need.
    Generally speaking, i use synthetic for small trees that need trunks and are in first stages of growth or need a fast boost. But it will cause massive internodes and large leaves.
    Once in refinement i switch to organic to slow things down.
    For pine and evergreen i use organic only so the beneficial fungus can grow.

    • @riksinha5
      @riksinha5 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use NPK fertilizer as it works great on mine.

    • @bonsaiempire
      @bonsaiempire  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for sharing Paul!! It definitely makes sense to use a synthetic on young material, I use osmocote for this - what do you use?

    • @Gbhmagic
      @Gbhmagic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@bonsaiempire since i grow seedling annd now all are outside plants. I used miracle grow during thenfirst few years. On inside plants i too used osmacote thats stuff was great.
      After the ouside plant gets close tho the size i want.. i switch to organics. This is of course for my leafy stuff.. pines and juipers always get organic...it promotes the good mold growth... its a fun hobby. Just can be very frustrating some times. 😀

    Los macronutrientes primarios (N, P y K) son igual de importantes que los macronutrientes secundarios (S, Ca y Mg) y que los micronutrientes (B, Cl, Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Mo, Zn...), exactamente igual. La única diferencia es que la planta los demanda en distintas cantidades. Un déficit de cualquiera de ellos, en la cantidad necesaria para la planta, es igual de perjudicial para la salud de la planta.
    ¡Saludos!

    Im always curious trees in nature don’t get fertilised like we do home plants, they have to seek out nutrients in the local soil and how is it replenished ? How do they look so good for hundreds of years, with no one giving them fertiliser, trees in nature often looking better than home grown plants ?

    • @bonsaiempire
      @bonsaiempire  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Very true! Their roots can expand tens of meters away and deep into the ground - very different from Bonsai!

    • @TheAustralian1x
      @TheAustralian1x 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Its from worms, old leaves , dead animals, ect those all break down in the wild to provide nutrients, and rain is almost pure nitrogen, then all the minerals that are already in the ground. Plants and trees in the wild have everything they need

    • @hibbs1712
      @hibbs1712 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You are asking about the basic water cycle :). Believe it or not, these nutrients are in the clouds in the air where they get rained down onto the ground to be sucked up by plants or evaporated to do it again :)
      Edit: this is why trees grow such large roots! Cast a bigger net and you catch more fish !!! :)

    • @_sb_1168
      @_sb_1168 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well I guess they can get some nutrients form dead and de composed animals and stuff

    • @bonsaiempire

      Exactly, they release slowly and therefore only need to be replaced every fee weeks (depending on your product)

Not sure on what fertiliser to give it n what’s best for an indoor Chinese elm one n how many times a week/ month to feed it :/ I don’t want it to die as looking after it for 2 weeks. Help please :)

    Can you use normal outdoor tree fertilizer (NPK) on bonsai or does it have to be bonsai specific? I am currently looking at nursery options from local big box stores and hoping to get into bonsai soon. If I get a 1 gallon tree, should I let it grow on its own for some time first or does it need fertilizer as soon as possible? Thanks!

    • @stalkerlohh
      @stalkerlohh 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      using some regular super market cheap liquid fertilizer...so no need for specific multiple times pricier "special" food

    • @bonsaiempire
      @bonsaiempire  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say it depends on your trees and where they are in their development. Trees in training, that need to grow strong - use something like osmocote. Older trees that need balanced growth, would do well with the traditional bonsai fertilizers like abrakas or biogold.
