“Sudden awakening is not a state of mind that is developed-it's the innate wakefulness of mind, it's the nature of mind that is free of delusion. When delusion is not present, there is the experience of awareness, of wakefulness.” - Joseph Goldstein

Honestly I’d be a walking zombie without this beautiful teacher.
    Thank you again Joseph.
And thank you God and “be here now” for sending all these great teachers into my home so I can safely heal and wake up and not have to move to a Tibetan cave to do so.

Thank you Joseph. It's already there... soften, leanback and allow the awareness to come forth naturally. Got it 👍

I know exactly what you mean. I've been hearing this on repeat, and pausing in between to soak in how precious and powerful this really is.

    4 Noble Truths:
    1. Self-forgetting: identification with the temporal is the one source of all suffering.
    2. There is a way out of suffering.
    3. The way out of suffering is dis-identification with the temporal.
    Self-observation:
Impartial observation of the reactive self - negative reactive patterns - as inner objects of observation generates inner distance, which diminishes the impact of the reaction long enough to remember one's Self.
Self-remembering: being aware of being aware is unmodulated by the 5 senses, thus unfettered, which is the resonant inner state frequency closest in alignment with the frequency of the all-inclusive Absolute, where all things are possible (Wisdom and Understanding).
    4. Objective Consciousness:
Now free from identification with the temporal, awareness of the omnipresence of the Eternal within the temporal spontaneously arises.

I find 'there is a body' to be a better mantra by Goldstein :)
Makes you wake up and get back from entangling in your thoughts.

If you throw paint in space, it doesn't go away just because it doesn't stick to a 2D surface. It's still there staining the space as blobs in 3D.

If you want to gain some insight into the nature of mind, try not to focus on the metaphors too much, if they hold up to scientific knowledge, and try more to remain open and see if you can recognize this nature of mind, already free.

All the sniffling that Joseph did was distracting. Or was that a test?

That sort of thing will begin to be seen less and less as you rekindle your lost self.
I used to get heavily distracted by coughing in meditations, to the point of anger.
It soon fizzles out, and is seen for what it is - nothing! A temporary and soon forgotten thorn in the illusory state of contracted mind.
Like snapping a twig in a forest. No impact, no matter, a blip on the screen.
Lol, can you tell how much, and how little this bothers me now? I've wrote 3 sentences on one damn event 😅
Ohh hang on a minute 😊
