As a person who almost exclusively renders bottles with labels the depth slider for cylindrical wrapping is actually game changing! Been wanting it for years
As a Keyshot user for the past 8 years I just hope they have some exciting new features planned for next year because 2024 and the updates since have been pretty underwhelming compared to pervious years. Seems like a lot is changing behind the scenes just hope they aren't splitting resources from Keyshot Studio to make it happen.
Right. I'd assume a lot of their resources were tied up in transitioning to a subscription service as well as the new products they just announced as well as the acquisition of Digizuite. I would hope/expect to see a bit more in the way of new features in the coming year or so. Also, I think it's worth noting that they used to do one big release each year with all the new features, whereas now, 3 times a year, each should have a handful of new features, improvements and bug fixes.
Now we just need proper transparency alphas on all materials, cryptomattes, better render layers, better animation tools etc...it's been 84 years! Some small QoL features are always welcome, but KS really needs to dig deeper on some of the bigger things that would help it grow even more.
The alphas are a big problem I'm constantly refining mattes in After Effects to fix the edges or trying to change my backgrounds to blend better with the videos.
This is the coolest navigation update KeyShot has made. I've been using KeyShot since version 5 but always struggled with the navigation compared to Blender. Now, they have almost copied Blender's navigation system. Great work, KeyShot team, and thank you for the great explanation, Will!
Hey Will, thanks for sharing those updates! Curious though if there has been an update on a feature that many users have been asking for for some time: Is there an update regarding the cameras? Specifically, if you change a saved view slightly, does it still remain in this camera (unsaved), or does it jump to "Free Camera"? Many thanks in advance.
I've not heard of any change like the one you've mentioned. So far as I can tell, the camera system behaves like it always has. There's no automatic changing to free camera. And as I think about it, how would you make changes to an existing camera if this is how it behaved? It would always jump to free camera and you'd need to make a new one then delete the old one? Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but it doesn't sound like it'd streamline workflow at all.
Hello and thank you for all these amazing tutorials. I have Keyshot Pro and I'm practicing with version 11.3.3 Pro. To get the 2024 version, when I click 'Check for Updates' in the 'Help' panel, the message says 'No new updates available.' Do you know why this is happening and how I can get the latest version? Thank you very much ! :)
I suspect that is because V11 was the last version before KeyShot moved to a subscription model. After V11, KeyShot switched to year number (2023, 2024 etc) and that coincides with when they switched to an annual subscription. So, unless you're paying each year, then there will be no updates.
I just updated today and have noticed that I can no longer mirror an object by changing the scale along an axis to -1. Is this something anyone else has experienced and is there a workaround?
Yeah. Unfortunately, it's something that unintentionally was removed from the move tool. it's been reported and the developers are well aware of it. But since I'm not a KeyShot employee, I can't comment on when exactly this function will be restored.
Not exactly a full step-by-step playlist. That's what you'll find in my paid courses. I do have a playlist of beginner-friendly videos on this channel.
I have a question. Now that I got the new Keyshot Studio 2024, My other colleagues cannot open the files that I saved as Ksp. Is there a way to save it down?
I have no idea. I don't personally work on a Mac environment and as long as apple doesn't use Nvidia chips, I'd say it's not likely something you can expect.
That's odd. I haven't tested it on Mac, but it should also apply to mac. I'd check the keyboard shortcuts and see if for some reason you have something else set to cmd+d.
So far... I think it's gone. I've seen someone else mention this on the Luminaries community as well. Hoping it's a function they bring back in some capacity.
Yeah, bummer. I've learned this after I made this video. I was in a rush and had only had access to the latest version for a day or two before I recorded this. Hoping it'll be something KeyShot fixes ASAP!
@@WillGibbons This is really a big issue! Every move I made is roughly eyeing or use increment. Also value changes after moved by pivoting to other object, the moving part just ignored the pivot completely and fly to a random places and scale itself strangely! Please help reflect this problem to KS. Thank you.

Congratulations for the new life style and new office!
Thanks. Hoping to get back to new and good videos as soon as I can.

Thanks for the vid man! Big fan form Brazil
Cheers! Thanks for watching. :)
They went full 2024 tech minimalism. I like that ^^

Thanks! I'm excited since I think it's a step in the right direction. I think there are some kinks to work out, but again, I'm optimistic.
This is good. But we are missing Light Linking, hoping that they would add that in the next update. Great Video !!
I agree. I think that it's on the horizon.
Didn’t get to meet you in SoCal. Nice update.
Bummer! Maybe at a future KeyShot event? We'll see.

do you have keyshot playlist for absolute beginner or who whats to go from step 0 to step 100, full product rendering stuff

Do you think Keyshot will ever be upgraded to use Apple Silicon GPU for rendering?
@WillGibbons Was this a Freudian promise? 10:05 😉
Anyway, many thanks for the update! 👍
Maybe a Freudian wish, lol.
@@WillGibbons Sooner or later... lol 😉👍
I have a question. Now that I got the new Keyshot Studio 2024, My other colleagues cannot open the files that I saved as Ksp. Is there a way to save it down?
There is not. KeyShot has never been backwards compatible since features get added each time, unfortunately.
When will it be possible to GPU rendering on apples new chips?
I have no idea. I don't personally work on a Mac environment and as long as apple doesn't use Nvidia chips, I'd say it's not likely something you can expect.
Me too,I do wish GPU rendering could be supported on Apple Scilion . Metal RT works quite efficient .
hey will, I am on the mac version, the "command D" select trick doesnt seems to work on mac. any thoughts?

thanks will, that’s might be it!

Are you try mirror a part in keyshot 2024!? Maybe it’s gone!?
So far... I think it's gone. I've seen someone else mention this on the Luminaries community as well. Hoping it's a function they bring back in some capacity.
Só queria algo do Keyshot em Português Brazil 😅
Ah, sorry, that's a bit outside of my skillset!
😋love this video ,but now, I can‘t type the move value When I select multiple objects,it's necessary

@@cng7183 An updated move tool is coming when in the next update which is right around the corner. Next few weeks.
It's a pity, of course, that I use keyshot only for rendering gold and silver
Maybe it's time to branch out! :)
@@WillGibbons I have no practical need . I work with gold and I need to visualize it as realistically as possible. That's enough for me.
