A few years ago my wife and I went on a tour at the ASARCO Mineral Discovery Center. It was amazing. It is closed due to covid right now. But if you get to Tucson, it is worth the trip. I think it was free too.
Really interesting proccess, I really liked the diagram of flow it looks very well done and very explicit to understand all the proccess. For the other side when they show how those robot hands organize the tubes for the packing part I really get crazy of that efficiency and develepment. Thankyou for show all this advance proccess and all those great ideas of production.
I’m a truck driver and once picked up a load of rolls of thick copper single strand wire at a factory where I got to see a little bit of how the wire was formed into the rolls. It was very interesting.
OK Im glad to see that Im not the only one who realized that a HUGE section of the processing was left out. What happend to the bubbles that had copper? How do you get copper from the bubbles? The video goes from showing bubbles and then next they were cutting ingots of copper. WTF
Video really jumps around a lot without much proper explaination of any particular part. It's more of a Wikipedia link chase of copper facts than the copper production process
I just wanna know how they figured out there was copper in the earth and how they figured out how to get it and how to make it into wire and how they figured out it was conducive for electricity??? So MANY QUESTIONS
what happens between 25% copper minerals (with trace silver and gold) and pure copper billets? Seems like very important steps were skipped. The ones I was curious about actually.
In this industry, everything is a little bit bigger. The vehicles, the conveyors and the engines. We can say that because we are repeatedly asked about our mega large electric motors that we manufacture for this industry.
I've been an "Electronics Junkie" since I was born in 1958. People who have been playing Extreme music can hear the difference in guitar pickups made with wire from China. They say it's because Chinese copper wire has impurities in it. Do you have any insight in this argument? Thank you...🇺🇸 😎👍☕
@@VictorLarsen-fy9ls I've worked in central America and china and they were able to work with imperial units. They also took American dollars. It's amazing how people are suddenly not stupid when there's money to be made.
Yes. There anodes and cathode sheets. The impurities and rare metals fall to the bottom in a slurry that is then refined as well. The copper collected on the cathodes is stripped off and is 99.99 percent pure. These are surprisingly heavy. I got to see these procedures at Phelps Dodge in El Paso Texas in the mid 1980s as a teenager. They would never let anyone visit today without being an investor or industry professional much less a teenager. I feel very fortunate to have been allowed to see this great achievement in person.
Also if proper english were used it would be more processable. No pun - realy. But also the cutter has to be stretched and coiled. Well that would be a pun.
Electrorefining is a process in which materials, usually metals, are purified by means of an electrolytic cell. The anode is the impure metal and the cathode is a very pure sample of the metal.
