Elizabeth and Robert Dudley's love story is so touching. They truly loved each other and he was her one true love and trusted friend. She was utterly devastated when he died, there can be no doubt. I'm sure I would be emotional if I were ever able to visit Kenilworth as well. I would LOVE to do a Tudor history tour. I'm far away in Houston, TX, so not sure when that might be! LOL

I’m studying Art History (specifically high to late Medieval in France and England) and I wonder if the portraits you showed were meant to hang together.... what do you think the implications are with that? I’ve loved the Tudors since I was little and this channel is a dream!
I don't know how Elizabeth ever resisted such a demonstration of love! I've always thought that Lettice was a dead-ringer for Elizabeth and believe that's why Robert Dudley married her after Elizabeth turned him down - to be as close to Elizabeth as possible - and just possibly there was a bit of spite there, too. Of course, Lettice might possibly have been Elizabeth's niece rather than her first cousin, once removed! It's a shame, but predictable, that Elizabeth reacted badly to the marriage and that she ended her former close bonds with her relative (and later had her son by her first marriage executed). I guess Elizabeth wanted her Robin never to leave her side, but he was entitled to a life of his own. // Never had the pleasure of visiting Kenilworth - knew the story of how Elizabeth was wooed there but did not realize that only ruins remain. Perhaps fitting!!

This video made me think - my goodness! Robert Dudley and Lord Guilford Dudley had the same name! Sooo....they're related?

Didn't Robert support Mary? So if they were brothers that means Robert supported Mary and fought against his Father and brother? Wow. If my surmises are correct that must have been a bit of a mind-bender.
