    Since changing his timing mechanism,Amaya has been an excellent offensive player,another year of experience,you can keep him as your #1 catcher

      Not sure I totally agree. Granted he has looked better, but not sure that will continue. Add the fact that his defense isn’t actually what I would call great or anything approaching great. The jury is still out, but they should pursue another backstop and if nothing else find someone that is a good backup that potentially could take over if he falters.

    Just saw an article that basically proved that while Suzuki has had some 32-34 bad strike calls against him, most of which come at the top of the zone….
    On the flip side he’s benefited from some 25+ low strikes, that were called balls.
    Really glad we can put all this
    “This stuff with Suzuki is so unfair and hurts his ceiling”
    talk behind us 🙏 😅

    Belli- just give examples of who we can get thats better than him. Now if we take him out of the lineup we get awful RH oriented. Happ and Busch. Soto is not coming folks. Again the play is get a C and trade Hoerner. Plug in Shaw. Thats it. If we lose Belli then you can get a bat. I just want to know the possibles. Bellinger when healthy is our best all around player. He hits, fields, swipes bags and has a decent K %.

    • @johnlenon8872
      @johnlenon8872 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      You are exactly right. He has hurt his knee, his ribs, and whatever else. Everyone says oh the exit velo is bad. Well, he slaps stuff around to left with two strikes. Which is better than Happ, Swanson, Suzuki, Wisdom, etc., who ALL strike out looking on pitches that are one half inch too high, or 2 inches outside, or whatever. Umps pump EVERYONE out on close pitches and the Cubs have not a clue in August that Umps will call ANYTHING close for strike 3. Cubs have the bases loaded? No problem, let's take strike 3. They are really all quite stupid. If Belli did not get hurt and played 155 games, he would hit .300, have 28 dingers, score 90 runs, and drive in 100 while stealing 25 bases and play stellar defense wherever you put him. I would rather pay him 28 million than pay Soto 50 million a year. If the team simply swing at strikes or anything close instead of "grinding" at bats, which reallym means a strike out on 7 pitches, who cares? You still have no slug, no rbi, no OPS, no nothing. Hence, they are 28 and 30th in every major category offensively. Passive, not aggressive. Lots of crying. If the UMP pumpued you out 30 times this year on close pithces, why would you think K number 31 is not your next AB? Because it is. Swanson left 5 guys on base last night, watching strike 3. Hence he has a batting avg of what, .218? Jeeez

    • @troym2784
      @troym2784 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@johnlenon8872 absolutely. But with the no trade clauses and huge contracts we are stuck with the majority of the team we have. The moveable piece is Nico but that spot will be taken by Busch , we assume and rightfully so. Again this is all hoping PCA continues to improve, which isnt guaranteed. Another reason why i want Bellinger back. Soto would be great , but i just dont see that happening. Santander would be nice but if PCA flops , Santander cant play CF. Again i think if you replace Belli - the guy needs to be LH. Not many of those out there in Free Agency. Ballesteros is also going to play a role. Now he is LH. Many are screaming for a Closer and i get that but it was said yesterday 11 out our last 27 we have scored 2 or less- 5 of those being shutouts. Definitely some work to do.

    • @thechild7355
      @thechild7355 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for saying this. Who is that better option in free agency for a RF? It should be Juan Soto but the Cubs are allergic to signing a superstar.

    • @flatusexpellus1779

      @@samolbur8893 after Soto and probably Corbin B, do you see any serious diff makers in the free agent market vs some more mostly 'nice' players?

  • @sni6941
    @sni6941 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The free agency should be easy for the Cubs. They have around 100m space and only 3 areas need to add: catcher , closer and a superstar bat. They don’t need SP cause they have Steele , Imanaga , Taillon, Assad , and one young arms ( Wick, Hayden , Wicks, Horton) . So go all in on Soto ( I doubt he would choose Cubs) , get a legit closer (trade young talent or pay ) , trade for a catcher or get one in free agency . We still will be under the luxury tax areas.

    • @Youngstomata
      @Youngstomata 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree except for luxury tax. Soto is going to want 60-70 mil a year

    • @sni6941
      @sni6941 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Youngstomata it could be close, from long term financial point of view, it is vital to stay under the tax next year and also because it is doable. When we have to pay all the young guys like Steele, PCA, then we probably can’t under the tax anymore

    This is what I think could be an option if Bellinger doesn't opt out...
    Trade Nico for a good catcher (maybe Langeliers or Jansen).
    Move Busch to 2nd, Bellinger to 1st.
    Go get Anthony Santander as the power hitter they need.
    If Bellinger opts out then scratch all that.. just go get Soto...
