It seems the firestrike at 2:04 was a mistake. Super already had his own shatter and he knew Gator had his as well. The firestrike achieved nothing and allowed Gator to get his shatter off. Super's team has to invest a ton of resources early to keep everybody alive and as a result they lose the battle of attrition.
