I love how she takes constructive criticism without being discouraged and can even admit when she messes up on something! This baby is special 🥰✨
She has been shown that it’s a safe space, and matched with the encouragement it is going to help with how it’s taken. Often times people struggle to take constructive criticism because they view it as a personal attack (they tend to feel insecure and tie it with someone telling them they as a person is not good enough). It tends to be connected to someone who has been invalidated in life and ”loved” conditionally, so when someone says they can change things to have a better outcome then it hits at their vulnerability and shame. Two things that can make these types of people shut down the conversation or go for an attack. But this sweet child is not shamed or being attacked here and she is aware it is a safe space, and she sounds very emotionally mature if you listen to how she spoke about her being bullied and her view on herself (you can tell she has adults who has spoken to her about this struggle of being bullied, that it’s not her responsibility to carry etc). It makes me happy for her, because kids especially who are bullied need spaces where they can grow and be validated without toxic narratives💛

6:48 I love when Cheryl assures her that she’s not doing anything wrong that her voice is just tired …. as a singer it’s frustrating when you’re trying to hit a note or sing a song that you can normally sing well but the voice is different from other instruments and it gets tired but that doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with vocal technique…. I love these videos because it really shows a realistic perspective of the challenges of singing and the beauty of the human voice

I want to go ahead and let you know that I cried the first time I saw this for that same exact reason. Her voice and emotion while singing...you can feel it man (I call everyone man, dude, and bro...please don't take offense). This is my second time watching this video several months later and I cried again. I'm not saying the vocal coach was being offensive - she was pointing out perceived mistakes and, as an amazing vocal coach, making things, in my perceived opinion, better. Gosh. People nowadays are just desperately looking for reasons to be offended. Or just attention.

Being comfortable with her coach allows her to develop a rapport that allows her to keep correcting them and they don't see it as wrong, but as her making it better. Having that and the talents of course makes her the phenomenal coach that she is.

This was literally how the bullying for me started. As soon as I started shining and getting some attention for my talent, I was all of a sudden "stealing solos" from girls who were in choir for longer than I was.

I wish i had someone like this when i was young.she has such a beautiful voice and i love how cheryl is helping people of all ages become amazing singers.growing up i was so self-conscious of my voice because of peoples criticism and this led to me never wanting to sing where people could hear me.i would damage my vocal coreds so much because i had no idea of what i was doing lol,and this led to my voice getting a bit deeper than usaual to me i love how i sound and i improved alot on my own but one day i would love to sing with cheryl i just know it will be a blast with her shes so comforting and caring.

I've been singing since I could speak, but when I was around ten I started to feel so much pressure to be perfect and every little mistake made me feel terrible. I'm sixteen now, recovering from burnout and anxiety, and I'm trying to find what I loved so much in music. Your videos are always just what I need when I feel like I'm gonna break.

She is patient and very talented. Very good at what she does. She also has a very nice, toned, and strong voice herself. Amazing..like you said both the voice and the process. Let's not forget the coach. One of her students call her Mama Cheryl.
This brought me to tears, that girl has a natural talent and she has such a pure soul. She’s gonna go places I know it! And what amazing vocal coach too! Having a teacher who builds you up when you fall down and make mistakes will make her enjoying singing and learn to further embrace her gift! I really loved watching this so much ♡
