Closest tank yet to what I'm going for...only with Rainbow fish and Angels- black and silver instead of fussy Discus. P.scalares are more low maintenance then P. altums. Scalares are happy on good dry foods.
i know what you mean on angels versus discus, particularly wild. very difficult to maintain their colors. but i would say altums are just as non-fussy as scalares once they settle. one problem is they have big mouths so forget about cardinals or similar sized tetras.
Can altums live on dry food -occasional freeze dried foods also- like Scalares can ? I noticed for years silver and black angels can live happily and grow large on Tetra Min and Hikari pelleted foods. No need for brine shrimp or tubiflex..and that last always sooner or later, carries disease.
In my experience yes. i fed different dry foods, mainly pellets, and occasional freeze dried australian black worms. They grew fast and eventually i sold them because they were too greedy and restricted other fish i could keep. i have a video of them here th-cam.com/video/l2fVcwFRQBc/w-d-xo.html
Ok.I got you. I might pass on any angels or Kribs. I want a stream look ( I have a strong water circulation- and might add more),with the ability to keep various shrimps and snails, and nobody eats nobody. Had enough of that for 40 years. Just once..everybody gets along in a big aquarium. Thanks!
i just use tap water, which in Hong Kong is soft and neutral. I also use ADA soil, which makes the water slightly acidic. I dont check pH unless i notice the tank system looking wrong (e.g., plants dying, fish breathing heavy, etc).
ohh myy very nice tank and setup! wow!!
always a pleasure to watch this tank
Amazing tank 🙌👌👏👍🤙.
thanks!
Damn thats a nice tank
thanks!
What temp do you run your tank at? I just ordered a L014 and an L114 for my Discus tank. Your tank is a piece of art! Tank envy!!
Thanks! In the summer now it ranges around 28-29C. In winter it's 26-27C.
👍👍👍
