This is the classic high school example of well-off parents who can afford to buy their kid a Marshall stack vs the poor kid who had to beg his parents for a tiny practice amp. They both did great, but my heart goes out to the practice amp kid.
Being the left kid, I would have told the other guy to use my amp too. I mean totally unfair as the amp makes most of the tone and tone plays o lot to how a guitarist sounds.
@@BabTheBabs 100% He would still beat him but he wouldn't be so humiliated. I would of done the same. After seeing that practice amp be like nah dude plug into my shit Ill switch the channel for you lmao.

@UC-2LNX5DXsUOczs_Ca2iHHQ I saw u repost ur comment like 3 times 😂 TH-cam sucks now lol I read them all tho I get what u mean and I agree that amp does suck
One guy had a monitor and the other guy had a half stack and a processor. They were both pretty good players. And I don't think most real musicians could give a crap about 'owning' another one. We all have different strengths and skill levels at different times. Show a little humility.
That's like saying Angus Young isn't as good a guitarist as Yngwie Malmsteen because he can't shred as well. I'll never be John Bonham, Terry Bozio, or Neal Peart, but I can play drums really well. People need to get over that shit. Both guys did a great job.
I find guitar players and vocalist tend to have the biggest egos and are quite often competitive. (though oddly enough this is rare with actual professions) most the competitiveness with guitar players is between two or more amateur guitar players. also this competitiveness is rarely between two band mates. usually it strikes between guitar players in different bands.
Vocalists are often also the face and spokesman of the band. They're expected to have that ego. In fact, singing is only a small part of that profession. It's mostly show and writing.
I try and I try and I just can't play guitar, bass I can kind of do, drums I need a lot of practice, vocal: I wont quit my day job. I still have fun with it though.
Fast playing is what impresses people. The long-haired kid owned the other because of his speed, and finished him off with an American salute. It was a freedom one-two punch that took little to accomplish to an experienced guitarist, and that is the impressive part considering the audience.
at least he aspires to be a good guitarist. I wasn't commenting on his skill or originality, just pointing out that he played one my favorite pantera songs
Which is lessons and which is self taught? Not being sarcastic, but neither route necessarily leads to any particular certain outcome, in my experience.
igloo productions idk the long haired kid has some smooth hand skills bruh, the other kids more average then him but i guess i can agree as i watch this further more while typing
If people actually knew what they were playing they would see how shite the guy on the left is... played the floods outro and missed about 20% of the notes, and the outro isn't exactly the most technically advanced guitar part ever, would like to see him attempt the solo and break down crying lmao! All show and no final product
i was gonna say, the dude on the left is all show, not much skill.. the kid on the right was doing way more technical stuff, hes just using a way smaller amp.. its not fair, especially not for a metal face off..
+WimsicleStranger +1 LOL, exactly. "I can hammer on and pull-off faster than you." "Oh yeah, watch me hit a pinch harmonic and hit my whammy bar." Third person: "Can either of you put that together into a reasonably comprehensive piece?" "... did I show you my whammy bar?"
Yeah, I hate it. I hate it at concerts ( which is why I'll never go to one. ) I want to hear music. Not a bunch of idiots screaming and acting like fools.
Both these kids are damn good for high school students. The one kid with the long hair clearly has a HUGE amp and he's doing a lot of crazy tapping and pinch harmonics, but it's kind of a mess. It's like, "Listen to all the crazy sounds I can make," rather than playing anything with a structure or tempo. I agree, his playing is a bit more impressive than black-shirt kid, but I felt black-shirt kid was actually TRYING to do something more impressive. He wasn't relying on tricks, wasn't just tapping the same notes as fast as possible... He was actually trying to solo, mixing it up, being creative...
On the other hand, he tried to do one of the easiest metallica solos after having practised it for what seems like 10 hours at most.. on a talent show. Seriously, why are both these kids on a talent show, they're both cringy as fuck.
You all may be too young or know little of Rock-n-Roll history, but the fact of the matter is that the man on the left did an almost perfect rendition of something done by THE master of guitar many years ago. Research Jimmy Hendrix.
How this kid won this guitar battle: 1: Have a giant ass amp that makes the others amp sound like it isn't even on compared to yours. 2: Play fast. The crowd won't have a clue that you are butchering it through dead notes or simply nothing at all. 3: Play Eruption, a cheap tapping solo can ANYONE with an electric guitar can literally play. 4:: Throw some pinch harmonics in there that are used at such a wrong time, anyone who plays guitar thinks it's annoying as all hell. But it high pitched, so the audience thinks it's "Real Metal!" Even though the last kid played Lamb Of God just before that. I'm not trying to say that the kid who won sucks balls, but he definitely won because of cheap advantages and overall "cool things" that anyone who hasn't played music will drool all over.
Why is it always who can solo the fastest? Why is it never who can write the coolest song? That's an infinitely more important and impressive (and difficult) skill, if you ask me.
Well the guy on the right never came up with anything, he just played riffs that were already written. The guy on the left, however, played basically entirely on improvisational skills.
dude...people believed a dinosaur was recently killed...its unbelievable how stupid the world has become...oh well...good thing we only have to suffer for 70 years most of us
I didn't say that. I guess I mean when you're playing rock/metal it gives you a much richer, fuller, heavier sound. Improves your tone. It will make you're guitar sound better and as a direct result you're playing will improve over time... As long as you practice.
it's been what, 4 years since the last time i watched this video. and the comments are still people being salty about the term "owned", trolls and people making potato-cam joke glad to see some parts of youtube will never change in time
foxdogjake I agree. I kinda felt for the guy on the right. I have a really nice setup that is tweaked how I like it, and I doubt it would work for anyone else. But it sucks to be out of your element with a little shitty practice amp. Even his guitar looked like a copy compared to the other dude's Dime Signature. Not knocking either - I actually applaud them both. But I would only be competitive with my own rig. And I wouldn't want to lug that to school. One of them did apparently, so +1 for getting the upper hand. But with a whammy pedal, it isn't that hard to get all those squeals and stuff.
foxdogjake The amp has nothing to do with the talent.... I'd bet the guy who kicked ass could kick ass just as well if they swapped guitars and amps right there.... The equipment can help, but it is no substitute for talent.
***** ok the point is, he could paint better than you with that wall brush, even if you had the proper one. skill has nothing to do with equipment... you don't get better at guitar by purchasing a better amp. it just doesn't work that way. the kid on the left has clearly been playing for many more years than the one on the right.
Why exactly is he a poser? I didn't know you had to look a certain way to play. Gtfoh with that dumb shit. You probably dont even play, and you are talking shit about someone else.
eZiN Prodigy Doesn't that kinda sting a little when you dump on a couple of kids...then have to come crawling back because you spelled a word wrong? A person with a reasonable IQ would've edited, or deleted then re-posted his comment. You know, so you don't end up looking like a complete idiot.
mrdrprofessorGAMER I didn't say he was childish, I said his comments made him look like a complete idiot. He criticized people for cheering for a couple of kids because they're not on par with Zakk Wylde. If you think he was right for saying that, then you're a complete idiot as well.
lol yea, the old racing saying goes well with this, "its not how fast you drive, its how you drive fast." he can play fast and do some tough techniques but it just sounds sloppy. :/ Crowd likes it but, like craftsman, take some pride in your work and don't settle for mediocre performance.
GarySandStorm Basically. The sound is greater with the dude with the half stack(obviously) and the audience just thinks he is better, although it's just that he sounds better.
nobody got owned, the guy on the left with the cool gear played a great solo which was more than just fast, it takes a lot of talent to play that fast and still be on time and in key. The guy on the right played amazingly especially considering his guitar was going through a toaster. They both did a great job.
Ah 2008. Thrasher with Monster amp vs Nu Metal Kid with Picnic Box. No offense though, Atleast he had the Spine and the balls to try even though the thrasher dude was going all out.
This was my 2004 talent show at Hauke high school! The thrasher dude with the big stack is my buddy Ben Delcastio! And the other kid was battling him!! It was a great show! Man this sure brings back memories!

Richard Balls - whoa, a real life, SAT challenged, W2 challenged FoxNew viewer everybody....lets play with him....I never get to interact with them- I dont talk to the help at the club...Hi Rich- why do you hate blacks?
You just summed up every reason rock n roll is considered a joke since like oh idk 2004.. Every kid that plays guitar these days has bands like Dragonforce to learn from. Like Dave Mustaine said, (and yes he was my generations Dragonforce), David Gilmour could do more with one note than most bands these days can with with 12. Until rock pulls it's head out of it's ass we're stuck with Taylor Swift and Katy Perry bs everywhere.
+Charles Jones And another Great point...to actually sound like you do on the Album. Dragonforce cant play a single solo the same as on the Album...not because they improv...becuase they are Sloppy as #$@#. Love Old school ROCK and Metal...Solo's with meaning! Not just a random scale run at 600bpm or Sweep picking the same arpeggio over and over again. Long live the OLD School Legends!!!
+Charles Jones Dragonforce are excellent. They play fast, but well. But comparing Dragonforce to David Gilmour is like saying 'Here is aeroplane vs. a train, which can travel best on water?'
only guitarists understand that when the croud started going mental he was playing a cheap tap riff consisting of 3 notes -_-

I’m not for giving trophies to all the players but it takes balls for sure!!
so what model toaster did you film this with?
that would get top comment... in the golden age of youtube
Hopefully the Bravest Little Toaster.
***** Stop lying, it was filmed on a tampax pearl.
***** lmao made my day..
I've seen worse
If you came to hear guitar, be forewarned it's mostly people screaming over it.
hahaha
I can't fucking see guitar never mind hear it
and i thank you sir
Its shitty guitar playing anyways
Yeah, I hate it. I hate it at concerts ( which is why I'll never go to one. ) I want to hear music. Not a bunch of idiots screaming and acting like fools.
It's been 8 years since this talent show has taken place, who wants to see a rematch of these two? :D th-cam.com/video/nsg-SG9BXRM/w-d-xo.html
me too
robyncnp Maybe they can record it in 240p this time.
robyncnp YEEEESSSS. They have to.
robyncnp me me me me!!!! xD
robyncnp Yesssss
You know quarantine has you bored when you came back to see this after a few years lmao
More like TH-cam uploader gets owned at comment section.
+Machi You should put out a video of your guitar skills
that guy Bo
Yeah, I know. I am actually good enough to not embarrass myself.
You all may be too young or know little of Rock-n-Roll history, but the fact of the matter is that the man on the left did an almost perfect rendition of something done by THE master of guitar many years ago. Research Jimmy Hendrix.
+spudwin48 that didn't sound anything like the *Jimi* Hendrix version of the star spangled banner.
wow man that was the worst metallica solo cover ever
reptile and bugs keeping agreed
Reptile and bugs keeping for real i've been practicing it for like 2 days and i play better than him
Reptile and bugs keeping He also shouldve not played a song thats only the bass guitar on a regular guitar.
Dimebag Darrell inspiration
RedHotSlap not really
@@floydroseofyournightmares4833 yea there is lol
@@kelm91 The dean guitar and squeals.
Floyd Rose of your nightmares I get your point. The kid didn’t play in key at all. It was just a bunch of fast, but cheap tricks
Um, that is dimebag
Which Pixel is he?
the middle one
Giggity.
LOL
Concise and spot on!
Finest comment on the TH-cams all month. Some may say “Laughing my ass off”, I prefer to simplify and just say “LMAO”. Bravo, @Ryan Soule.
So this is the guy who Stole my toaster
How this kid won this guitar battle:
1: Have a giant ass amp that makes the others amp sound like it isn't even on compared to yours.
+Wrecker Jones Perfect. You just described the video.
Exactly.
This is literally what every non musician needs to know.
thank you, someone who i can agree with
so true
This video looks like a ps1 cutscene
Why is he playing Anesthesia, a bass solo, ON A GUITAR!!!! I'M OUTRAGED!!!!
Ikr
I literally thought the same thing I was pissed at that because I actually learned most of that on Bass
I have no idea what the fuck Anesthesia is, cause i'm a loser, but which one played it, so I can make fun of theme.
The first guy played it. On a guitar...it's a bass solo, see why I'm outraged?
Yeah, if you are gonna do a guitar off, don't play a fucking bass solo!
The first guy played a bass solo on a guitar. Wow.
taxidermy shame on him
poor guy even his amplifier lost
Can't tell if he wants to be Dimebag or Mustaine
I feel like he was going for a Kirk sound tbh
He played floods but looks like mustain
Mustbag
Why is it always who can solo the fastest? Why is it never who can write the coolest song? That's an infinitely more important and impressive (and difficult) skill, if you ask me.
because in metal, faster solo's are better.
B Scales Guitar that and he's got the hair flip...
Well the guy on the right never came up with anything, he just played riffs that were already written. The guy on the left, however, played basically entirely on improvisational skills.
Khai Uchiha guy on the left played some lamb of god riffs and tremolo picked about five notes. That being said his dive bombs were cool
Silly Charley, it is the guy with the biggest speakers.
The guy that supposedly won looks like he played in his room his whole life
That sounds very very wrong
Huehuehuehuehuehue.....
Nine million views? People really will watch anything …
People including you and me apparently.
Better than Charlie bit me....
PacificRimNZ
That was exactly what I want to say. ^^
dude...people believed a dinosaur was recently killed...its unbelievable how stupid the world has become...oh well...good thing we only have to suffer for 70 years most of us
@doc. Coming from the guy who not only watched it but also commented
This kid must’ve taken dimebag’s death hard. Was happy to hear the outro to Floods
Kinda helps when you've got a 4x12 half stack compared to a shoe box amp
Gear does not equal playing ability
I didn't say that. I guess I mean when you're playing rock/metal it gives you a much richer, fuller, heavier sound. Improves your tone. It will make you're guitar sound better and as a direct result you're playing will improve over time... As long as you practice.
+Logan Prosperie they're both alright at playing, the guy on the left only sounds better due to his gear though.
You guys are talking about sound of the guitar when this was recorded on a potato. Gear does not equal playing ability
it's been what, 4 years since the last time i watched this video.
and the comments are still people being salty about the term "owned", trolls and people making potato-cam joke
glad to see some parts of youtube will never change in time
lol
first
gg
What potato was used to write your response?
+YeshuaisShekinah lmao
Master Shredder over there showed no mercy to his classmate... But why would Google recommend this to me?
lmfaoooo
exactly what I wondering
i love watching these random recommended videos, shake things up a bit
'Master Shredder showed no mercy...' Love that... why is this not top comment!!
I got videos like "How to detect a pedo" and "Miracle medicine for diabetes", recommended.
I mean, what a fuck?
Who makes that little amplifier... Fisher-Price?
Acme!
Tonka
Roland actually.
Either Fisher Price or Playskool.
Its an amp made for practicing. Its not meant for a performance, but you use what you got. Im sure that kid didn't buy that half stack.
If I had a pixel for every dollar in this nickel, I would have a video.
Well said
Wat
bahaaahaaaa!! good stuff
What the fuck does that mean
Kimberly Jongathan Unicycle What the fuck
144p haha So it looks like the battle is between the white pixel on the left and the black pixel on the right
Hahahahaha, ahhh, thanks for the laugh!
What an original joke.
Jc333 I've never heard it before so to me it is original.
Jc333 It actually is pretty original.
Baphomet Yea if you`re 12 years old. I`ve seen that youtube joke around youtube since 2005.
How about they use the same amp to make it fair
***** The same amp. What did you not get? I can try to draw it for you. Hold my beer
foxdogjake I agree.
The equipment can help, but it is no substitute for talent.
foxdogjake how about you pick up michelangelo's paint brush and paint the sistine chapel...
***** ok the point is, he could paint better than you with that wall brush, even if you had the proper one. skill has nothing to do with equipment... you don't get better at guitar by purchasing a better amp. it just doesn't work that way. the kid on the left has clearly been playing for many more years than the one on the right.
short haired poser: im cool guys look at me play guitar
kid that looks like Killbot&GorGorAttack!!: hold my slayer tickets
U watch him too!? Hell yeah
Poser? Nah music was and still is my life, btw my hair down to my ass now.
Lmao ma boi killgor
Why exactly is he a poser? I didn't know you had to look a certain way to play. Gtfoh with that dumb shit. You probably dont even play, and you are talking shit about someone else.
@@smasher.338 damn it was a joke. am i not allowed to make fun of how people look.
I bet NOBODEY in the audience has even heard a real guitar solo if their cheering for this crap
Lol i spelled Nobody wrong
eZiN Prodigy
Doesn't that kinda sting a little when you dump on a couple of kids...then have to come crawling back because you spelled a word wrong? A person with a reasonable IQ would've edited, or deleted then re-posted his comment. You know, so you don't end up looking like a complete idiot.
eZiN Prodigy jelly bra cause u cant play guitar like that.. ay at least he has skill
Steve Brown I hate to say it, as childish as you think he is. He has a point though.
mrdrprofessorGAMER I didn't say he was childish, I said his comments made him look like a complete idiot. He criticized people for cheering for a couple of kids because they're not on par with Zakk Wylde. If you think he was right for saying that, then you're a complete idiot as well.
if i had a small loan of a million dollars for every pixel, id have $23.78
hahahahahahahahahahahaha
+Sam Wright You took an old turd and shined it up, I giggled.
HILARIOUS AND ORIGINAL
+Sam Wright why would you need a loan for pixels, you silly goose you
lidlnutz i think you misunderstood me
Never challenge a dude with longer hair than you.
trueeeeee
Or a guy with amps 12 times the size of yours.
Or a guy with a better guitar
+Your Password Is Incorrect
that's not a good point..
LOL
Man I don’t remember this Atari game
Was this filmed on a Nintendo?
lmfaooo
pit fighter!
No. It was filmed 8 years ago. Or more.
Context is key when making a joke on not wanting to sound like a dumbass.
And to answer you for real? It wasn't filmed with a Nintendo. It was filmed with my foreskin.
You're aware we had cameras that filmed better than 144p more than 8 yrs ago, right?
Dudes a Pantera fan. No wonder he's so good RIP Dime
Pinch harmonic, wammy bar hair flip. Tapping pentatonics. Cool hair flip.
Well said.....well said lol
Dude1: I got this!
Dude2: Plays 1 string
Dude1: Why do i hear boss music? 😂
Is it fast
-Yes
Did it take 30secs to learn?
-yes
Does society suck?
-yes
+bserper did the crowd knew shit about guitar?
-If they are Lil Wayne fans ,I asume they do not
Thanks for filming this on your T-1000 calculator
2008
huuuurt!
ShadowKiller571 That is unless you were hollywood.
yeessss still laughing at this comment
ComedyNurd too long, did not read
I think this title should be called "How to play shitty guitar - LIVE filmed with a potato"
is that the Canon HDR potato ?
lol yea, the old racing saying goes well with this, "its not how fast you drive, its how you drive fast." he can play fast and do some tough techniques but it just sounds sloppy. :/ Crowd likes it but, like craftsman, take some pride in your work and don't settle for mediocre performance.
GarySandStorm Basically. The sound is greater with the dude with the half stack(obviously) and the audience just thinks he is better, although it's just that he sounds better.
With a potato hahahahahahahaahahaha im fucking dying over here hahahahahahahahahahahahahah hahahahahahaha
LOL you really made me laugh. But you have to admit those harmonics were badass
nobody got owned, the guy on the left with the cool gear played a great solo which was more than just fast, it takes a lot of talent to play that fast and still be on time and in key. The guy on the right played amazingly especially considering his guitar was going through a toaster. They both did a great job.
Glad to see this was filmed on a rotten potato
It says 2008....thinking 1978.
+husker hammer I've seen videos from 1890s with better quality, for real
Patrick Murphy Im so glad someone can do math here!
this was funny but you should realize not everyone has parents that shower their kids in gifts like yours do
The audience sound more like they're at a football game than an event that requires listening.
The guy on the right played one of cliff Burton's bass solos on electric guitar
camel shame on him
Yeah it was anesthesia
Dat boi loves his Pantera
Ah 2008. Thrasher with Monster amp vs Nu Metal Kid with Picnic Box. No offense though, Atleast he had the Spine and the balls to try even though the thrasher dude was going all out.
I'm with you. Obviously the big amp guy has more skill, but its great they're both into it. Kudos to both of them.
This was my 2004 talent show at Hauke high school! The thrasher dude with the big stack is my buddy Ben Delcastio! And the other kid was battling him!! It was a great show! Man this sure brings back memories!
lol Considering he was playing a riff from thunderhorse which wasnt made until 2007 I find this hard to believe.
+Caleb Cameron ....and they were both very good!
Not Jesus I’m pretty sure the kid with the small amp played cliff burtons bass solo buy added his mix too
Yawnnnnnn ;-o
Give 'em both an acoustic and they would be lost.
+jimmy5634 lol exactly their bullshit was so trash u wudve heard all the mistakes and non squeals from this shit show.
***** they dont understand to get good in melodies u play ur electric on accuoustic so u can get it right.
+jimmy5634 A tuner would be a good start.
that is the ultimate test. that's why Randy Rhodes wanted to go back to classical guitar. that is a quote from his mom. God rest both of them :-(
Yes, give them both an acoustic so everyone will have to strain their ears to hear them.
Jesus, this video has more blocks than a Lego Collection
LMAO IM DEAD
Lol
LMAO 😂😂😂
Less blocks
Thats a small collection you got there.
Was it a potato or a calculator used to record this?

This doesnt make any sense

That first guy was playing anesthesia pulling teeth so.i respect him
Impressive on bass.. not on guitar
@@adamgriffith-smith9106 so guitarists can't ever play any mozart or Bach without losing respect?

T Bone oh wow, you sure showed those evil republicans a thing or two with that comment. There's no way anyone could vote drumpf over your big business owned dragon and her child rapist husband after read it.
Richard Balls - whoa, a real life, SAT challenged, W2 challenged FoxNew viewer everybody....lets play with him....I never get to interact with them- I dont talk to the help at the club...Hi Rich- why do you hate blacks?
Apparently same for me. TH-cam clearly knows me better than I even know myself.
Both of them have a lot of learning to do, obviously. Lesson #1 Playing fast does not equal playing good.
***** LOL I make my living playing guitar. I'll bet that you don't.
amen brotha my playing is barely recovering from the belief of playing fast. and I have had my hands on the axe for 11 years.
Hell naw im not letting this GEM 💎 die. Im back baby 😂
