There's a non-zero chance that the MVX2u was designed around the existence of the new SM7dB. They're basically the ultimate portable studio-grade dynamic mic combo.
What do you think about Sm7db +28db preamp engaged + fethead into an audio interface? So if i turn +48 v phantom power on, at my audio interface. Will it power both the preamps?
This exact same video with a goxlr + SE DM1 Dynamite + SM7B would be such blessing for me trying to decide if i should use my shure naked or with the Dynamite....
very interesting! I wonder how it compares to the rode ai-micro? Portability in my case is priority. I need to pass a lavaliere mic signal from my right (deaf) side to a headphone on my left (good) ear, so an audio interface that I can keep in my pocket it a requirement. Also I understand that these mini devices require power thru the usb device, but I wonder if that usb device can be a power bank? I really need the direct monitoring (with minimal latency) above anything.
Is the noise-floor issue a non-issue with mics that don’t need more than a (+48) phantom power boost such as the Earthworks ETHOS? I’m very intrigued by this product for an iPad Pro single-person TH-cam narration setup.
Sm7db has an inbuilt preamp as long as you turn that on, then engage +48v phantom power on your audio interface It'll act same as a fethead.. But I wonder what would happen with someone turned on +28db on sm7db's preamp + external fethead, will it give the ultimate 50db of gain and the audio interface bearly has to work?? That'd almost be like having an analog preamp lol
or you just diy your own inline preamp which is pretty easy and way cheaper than buying, just 2 low noise jfet or a couple of cheap jfet like j201 in parallel for lower selfnoise and 4 resistor, the hardest part is making the enclosure for the preamp
Hi Bandrew, don't think you have done this yet but any chance of a review at some time of the Sontronics PODCAST PRO dynamic mic? I have just bought this and have to say it has a nice tone (for my voice) but I would be interested on your view on this budget mic. Thanks Buddy, always love your channel.
Honesty, a really cool demo of how a fethead can decrease the noise floor and also of the coloration. I love the thumbnail though which shows just how ridiculous the set-up is. The extra length it adds to a dynamic mic is a bit ridiculous. You've got a sword sticking out the back of your mic that I would definitely end up swinging into my desk.

Are u saying the mvx2u was designed to work with the sm7db?
Danke!

So your reckon going straight to the SM7db with the MVX2u?
I second this can you please test the noise floor with this combo please please please!
very interested in this too @podcaststage2 @@enkeierick
So what if someone uses the sm7db mic with this mvx2u? So they still need a fet head or cloud lifter to not get noise ?

Good video… can I connect a Ribbon-Mic to the MVX2u? Thank you.

What's the other good 280$ interface?

Thanks for trying this out. I was one of those idiots shouting at you to try it out. 😁
same! I absolutely LOVE my fethead and Would love to add more into a line to get even more clean gain!
Me too. :D
@@DigIntoGaming What fethead do you recommend for the SM7B ?
Sounds like a job for one of the $45 Klark Teknik mic boosters then....
