  • We got nothing recorded of the ficm relay being plugged in while the key was on?!?!?! What do you think would happen and in what order once the relay is plugged in with the terminals energized?? I was planning on getting the diagrams out and trace where the crossed signals would go.
    Is anyone paying attention to what is really going on here??? It sounds like some big things are about to happen actually!!!

    New doesn't always mean good. Especially these days. Try putting the old harness back on.

    I put a new motorcaft fuel pump on. Pump ran but didn't suck fuel.. Bad pump New parts are worrisome I put the 249000 mile pump back on it fired right up. I did that before I did all 8 injectors to avoid just that issue

    Lab scope the crank signal so you can see what is accutally happening to the ecm.
    Im thinking theres bent tooth on the wheel. Youll see that on the lab scope. When at 1500 rpms its moving faster so the slightly distance away its messing with the signal

    I am thinking of a harness with a bad crimp on a terminal for the cam or crank.

    Voltage spike. Find someone or someway to scope major ficm powers and grounds, and pertinent mishaping sensors and injectors. Check for voltage on the body and frame grounds when it’s happening. Prob wiring or high voltage on the injection system.

    2 years ago I stomped on the pedal to pass a semi .once I got beside the truck my 6.4 did what your 6.0 is doing . It went from rough to smooth in a few seconds .hasent done it since. I thought a sticky injector .not sure .running fine ever since that time

    Seems like a loose connection somewhere, I'd suspect a bad ground for it to hiccup the OBD connection like that....seems once it starts misfiring things shake and that would shake the harnesses for sure.
    Only other thought would be fuel delivery, especially since it seems to be one bank consistently. Maybe stick a pressure gauge on the filter/regulator housing and make sure you've got stable fuel pressure as RPM increases.

    I think it's a harness issue as you moved it swapping FICMs and it got somewhat better. Scope it to see if the cam/crank signals are good and if not chase the wiring on the bad one.

    To me you drove it before with the old harness, injectors with no issues, so what changed? New harness with new or old injectors? Can a shorted injector(s) causes a sync issue? I'm a gas tech, but you lose fuel sync on gas engines don't run or some will run in a bypass mode ignoring the erratic signals. Your work is solid, so how hard is it to swap the old harness in to run a diag to verify the new harness is good? We have had a bad run on parts every since that UWA strike.

      I concur. All across the country mechanics are fighting bad parts out of the box and it seems to be getting worse. You have the old harnesses. I know it would be a PITA, but you are at a spot you really have to install an old harness that was known to work to either confirm or check off the list. Can you just lay it across the motor and plug it in without actually routing it properly? Just to test? Leave the FICM unbolted so you have some wiggle room. I also agree with Leroy, your mechanicals are solid, this seems to me to be 100% electrical.

      Agreed. I would like to compare what was replaced vs what was re-used. Might be one of those "just cause it's new doesn't mean it's good" situations

    I'd be a bit curious why the boost gauge isn't working. Maybe a harness issue is causing more than one problem?
    Does it think it's over boosting?
    What's the HPOP PSI doing when that happens?

      Exactly what I was about to say.
      Before they replace any other parts they need to lab scope the crank and cam signals at the ecm
      I'm thinking there's slightly bent tooth on the reluctor wheel on the crank.

    • @CHCH-yu5gd
      @CHCH-yu5gd 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Anthony, I didn't see you check if the CAM Sensor and the Crank Sensor are syncing. Probably at idle they are but when the PCM cuts fuel on the bank pair, they are no longer so. Again, with the oscilloscope, this diags in a very short time.

    • @Robert-S-
      @Robert-S- 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@CHCH-yu5gd He showed the scan tool indicating a loss of sync once it starts hiccuping, but they show sync at idle/low RPM.

    This is the most bizarre 6.0 video ever! It seemed that such weird symptoms had to be a haywire FICM but when a change out didn't solve it then …what? Injector harness? Or the injectors themselves? It must be electrical?
    Your pain and frustration is evident. This build was going so well and with such careful attention.
    Specific cylinders at a specific rpm….and No. 1 is the worst.
    Just like you changed out the FICM, Do you have a spare injector harness to change out? If still no change, then change out the bad cylinder contribution injectors.
    Electrical gremlins are the worst. Diesel engines should be kept all mechanical!

    Could it be the ficm harness? I remeber once running into this exact issue with a brand new oem ficm harness before and I swapped out the new one for the old harness and the issue went away. Nit exactly sure if you've ruled it out yet but it's worth a shot!
