- Cats' noses are amazing, they have around 200 million scent sensitive cells compared to our meager 5 million. This means that cats have an AMAZING sense of smell! With such a sophisticated sense of smell, it's no surprise that there are a few smells that cats just hate.

My cat loves the smell of menthol like icy hot or chest rub also cleaning supplies like pinesol and bleach. He goes crazy for all those smells.
Menthol is a really attractive smell to cats! Rags loooves deep heat too haha!

I have a cat that gags when she smells chicken, ham and cotton buds. I've never known this to happen before it's so strange.

we have some wild mint around our house, the cats never eat it but they also don't seem particularly bothered by it's presence.

Maybe I needs to be concentrated? I had sprayed my hair with a peppermint essential oil mix and my cat stayed away. She definitely did not like it..

Right now everybody's going crazy over making a cat gag with a comb now I just wanted to bring this up because I looked it up and it can be harmful.
Cats are predators, and their prey (mice and rats) use ultrasonic sounds to communicate. Cats may have sensitivity to high-pitched sounds because outside, it helps them hunt. Indoors, living with humans, it may lead to lots of irritation, gagging, or even worse!
So you wonder what could be worse than gagging

Quite sceptical about spice/chilli, I had some walkers jalapeno and cheese crisps and my cat was hovering around them constantly, I ended up dropping one accidentally and he was straight on it and was after more.

Apparently my cat hates the smell of liquor. I spilled some Crown Royal in her bed and now even after I've cleaned it she refused to get in. I can still smell a little bit of the alcohol so I'm sure she's picking up much more than I am.

May I ask what is a good smell cats hate but dogs don’t mind, I’m getting a indoor cat but we have two small dogs and a doggy door, my mum is definitely not letting me change the doggy door so is there any suggestions you may have?
Citrus or lemon scents (orange peels, lemon peels), garlic, ammonia, vinegar, coffee grinds, pipe tobacco, mustard, citronella, or eucalyptus all deter cats as well.
My 🐱 gives me a look of utter disgust when I unpeel a 🍌 & heads away !

My cat absolutely loves Bananas. He wants nothing to do with the fruit just pealing And if I peel the banana he wants nothing to do with it Anymore, he wants to chew on it.. But he Does not eat them he only puts holes in them to run them for me.... 😂🤗

While making Chai I realized my nosy kitty does NOT like cardamom or star of anise. I don't know if these are toxic but she squints her eyes and runs away.

My dad used to say to me if the cat doesn't eat it don't you eat it but I don't know if that's really true I think because of the bananas that are sprayed and all the fruit that is sprayed the cat doesn't like the chemicals
