Just started to get into golf this year and through some Facebook finds I am using a Ping Craz-e putter and since I am new this has been the best one. Love the channel and all the great tips to help me build my bag.
Great to see old stuff renewed. Simon, we really enjoy watching and learning from your videos. My favorite putter was an OG Odyssey 2Ball. It just seemed to work for me.
I would say my best putter, which I still have, is the Ping Anser! It helped me to gain confidence and accuracy with my putting, like no other! Due to technical advances, I have moved onto a Scotty, but still a blade putter.
Great to see old equipment with some history brought back to life. Great video. I've not been playing long but I've had 3 putters. My favourite is the Odyssey Dual Force 222.
Saw a vid saying place putter in cider vinegar then boil it. Cleans all the dirt off and makes polishing easier. I'm gonna try it on by Bullseye flange (best putter I've hit, unbelievable feedback yet forgiving).
I used a similar solution on another one (white spirit and white vinegar) and left it for the day while I was at work. The result doing that alone were outstanding.
In 1974 I stored my clubs in the Pro Shop at Eastlakes GC in Sydney. After I'd played he did this to my clubs, including a light sand-blast of the face to return grip. It's Amazing how the Role of a Professional Golfer has changed. The knowledge is almost lost.
I use a ping pal 4 to this day! I bought it lightly used in the late 90’s when i started playing golf. It was the first club i ever bought with my own money. All my other clubs were given to my by my granddad who was a pro at a golf course. It was just a mix of clubs but that putter was mine lol. Tried many other putters but always go back to the PAL 4
Sweet a lefty give away! The best putter I have ever used was a modified Odyssey O-Works Tank 7 putter that I had an extension put on and a JumboMax grip put on to use as an armlock putter. I created it while I was struggling to putt with a Odyssey Double Wide putter. While armlocks may become illegal I love putting with it and it is also the best putting training tool as if I use a similar motion with any other putter now I can putt decently.
Think the best I’ve used had about a 15 year hiatus. Used to putt well with a Ping Redwood D66 when they first came out, but as we all know, things come and go. Next shiny new thing. Then since I retired here to the Philippines, sold all my high end stuff, been going back old school. Saw a FB ad for a like new same model Redwood for $80, snatched it up. It improved my putting and is currently in rotation with a Yes Sophia that I just got for $60 like new. Old stuff, at least irons and putters, still play well!
The result on this putter is amazing. I was using an odyssey versa fang up until this year but picked up a 41 year old ping b60 out of my old man's garage. Put a new grip on it and it has been brilliant for me. Not sure I want to do anything to clean it up as my confidence standing over it on the green stems from the knowledge it has been sinking puts as is for all that time....
I have a Ping Pal putter that I refurbished about 20 years ago, I also paint filled the Ping Pal on the back and the alignment groove on top. It didn't stay shiny for a long, so and now I just leave the patina.
I have used a small hand held sander to remove/blend the scratches and shave down those rolled edges. Then polish to bring out the original finish. Can make them look super nice. Of course, sanding on the heads to lead to other issues with penetrating the chrome or other exterior corrosion protection. So, I would only recommend this as a personal club and not to be sold.
I have been using a SC Newport - and I was at a PGA Superstore yesterday tinkering with putters...and I fell in love with the Ping Heppler Tomcat 14! I usually do not like mallet putters...put it was amazing!
i'm a Ping fan and i'm currently building a vintage set that consists of Eye 2 irons and an Anser 2 putter that i'm restoring. i don't have a buffer but Brasso and a little elbow grease goes a long way into making these things lood great again! i'm currently using Piretti putters-my neighbor owns the company!
Loving the advice on flipping clubs and refurbing them on the channel. Never been blessed with great putters, best one I've had is my current Benross casino I think
My best putter is the one that I have used continuously since 1987! It is a Ping Kushin. I have missed thousands of putts over the years but none of those misses was ever the fault of the metal implement. The human holding the handle was responsible. I may sometimes be a bad workman; but I never blame my tools! Having seen this putter being renovated, I am now minded to make mine shiny and new, too! Can I borrow Ryan for an hour, please?

Did my own Ping My Echo from the early 60s. It looks like new! My favourite putter hasn't arrived yet - My brother is buying me a new Scotty Cameron Newport 2 for my birthday next month.
Great video, great piece of kit and a nice bloke. Might have to look into getting a grinder/polisher myself. A few stand out putters for me over the years were the ping b60z and the metal ram zebra, but the best putter I’ve owned is my current odyssey white Damascus no.5 … simply stunning. Get one and you’ll see what I mean 😍
Tried a similar job on a Titleist Dead Center - toughest bit was getting paint out of corners - went from £5 ebay purchase to a shiny putter that looks better than the TM attempt to copy.....will put it in my bag over the winter to stop scratch damage to mine on sanded greens and surrounds (also be getting winter wedges out soon too - no point blunting grooves in bounce games)

Top episode, thank you, and hot-on-the-heels of my own heart having just bought a vintage Ping Kushin (a la that trialled by Jack Nicklaus) to be able to partner the missus and her new Ping 2023 Prime Tyne 4 which is easily the best (easiest to pot) putter I've ever used. Your PAL looks like a gold bar from Kelly's Heroes / Italian Job but I thought the idea was to keep the patina to prevent dazzling.... but, perhaps, that's not a problem in good old Blighty? Love the result! That said, there is something equally satisfying about an aged Ping putter with natural patina coating... Best putter ever? A SeeMore Si2 that I got from what you call a job lot. We call it quite literally - a mixed bag ;)

Depending on the state of the greens, my Wilson 8802 (mint condition), but I have a shed full that have worked in the past and I won't get rid of them because I know I can go back to them. I have also a Ping B90 Broomhandle and a Scotty Cameron Studio Broomhandle, both which are effectively banned thanks to the overbearing USGA and R&A. Neither of these performed anywhere significantly better than the conventional putters, they were just different and a nice change to use.
Would love the putter, I’m a lefty myself and just have my girlfriends dads hand me down putter at the moment as fortunately he is left handed too but one of my own would be nice :) nicest one I’ve ever used is a TaylorMade spider in the American golf shop

Ryan is a genius!!! What a great video Simon. Fascinating stuff that I'm useless at but I find enthralling!!! No thanks, I don't want to win a left handed putter as I'm right handed, but, for the record, my favourite putter is the Scotty 5.5 Flowback that I currently game! I've had a host of putters down the years but my other preference is a Ping Shea H (I like toe-hang, as you can tell!). Keep making such great, interesting and different content as, as it's unique (in UK at least), that's what holds my interest.
I've not had many putters but I'm currently using a Mizuno Bertinardi C01 that my uncle gave me. seems to be working well. Not as shiny as that Ping you've buffed up though!
Very interesting results for 30 minutes polishing. As a complete novice the only putters i've tried are my sons Ryder Z30 and the current MAXFLI Patriot that i got second hand which could probably do with some TLC and a new grip really. But certainly given me something to think about.
This is awesome, I think these videos are good to see just to help clean up current/ a few-year-old clubs, keep them shiny. I have only played with a deep red Willson putter so would have to say that.

Since I started playing I’ve used a Rosie, white steel, stroke lab #1, but I just love the way they zebra putter looks. I took it to the practice green a couple times as a joke and I’m easily the most consistent with it.
My bestest Putter ever, ever, was an old PING B60, it was a Birdy machine. But in a moment of weakness I gave it to one of my Sons and despite numerous hints & veiled threats it's still in his Bag!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best putter I ever had was a Nike Oz putter ..... made so so many putts with it ....Won a lot of 4 man scrabbles with that putter .... Till my son thought it was a toy ....still looking for it's permanent replacement

Taylormade corza Ghost still the best I tried and I still play it, although sadly as seen in your previous videos that white paint chips alarmingly easily.
Best putter I have owned and still own is my Ping Zing Redwood. I had just started the game when this putter came out, did not have a lot of money and I treated myself for my birthday, bought it at a second hand store. I thought 100 dollars for a gold club was way to much. I treasure it till this day.
Hi Simon love the videos. The best putter I’ve ever owned is my Ping Pal 5 BeCu. It’s a beautiful putter with beautiful patina. I got a KBS CT Tour putter shaft in it now with a Gripmaster leather wrap grip. It’s awesome. I’ve also got an old Ping Pal like this one in left handed that I started restoring too.
These look amazing... had a blade putter which I couldn't get on with it was an old ram putter... wanted a mallet on the cheap and being left handed it was nearly impossible to find until one came up on ebay which has really helped... think it's a go C4 mallet with a massive grip which helped even more

I just semi refinished a Ping Anser from 1968-1973. I didn't polish it all the way shiny but cleaned it up and regripped it. I plan to use it.

I had the odessey #1 throughout all my junior years but recently got fitted for the spider x and boy oh boy do I love that putter
You can get the polishing wheels with an adapter for hand drills and comes with waxes for different metals etc. I had this for a putter refurb.
I've gamed an Odyssey works no 7 for a number of years and I love the feel of the putter. If only my putting did it justice!

Wow I used to have one years ago. I used to polish mine with brasso I have a titleist Newport now love it.
An odyssey 2 ball is my one and only! Been using it for the whole 12 years I’ve been playing and don’t see myself changing anytime soon!
Still using my Odyssey Dual Force 2 from my younger days. Been giving an old Rossie a go at the moment too

I am left handed and use a very old Patty Berg blade putter. It cost me about £7 second hand about 40 years ago!!
Good refurb...My first love putter was a Condor Marksman Balata. Had a really soft insert

Best putter I’ve had is my Scotty Cameron Newport 2. Such a nice feel, and balanced weight. I’ve never tried a Ping though!

After the 1200 grit you can use an abrasive polishing compound to get an even better finish. Autosol is an old tried and tested product.

Be cu need special care if you want to refurbish the club. It can become toxic .

All the Ping putters I bought at the carboot over the years I cleaned with Ketchup, put the head in a bag of ketchup over night
bought an almost new odyssey 2 ball original off a mate for £40 about 10 years ago . Still in the bag, funny how its fashionable again.
