    In my opinion, if you want a lot of fish that is cheap, beautiful, and environmentally friendly, use mollies. Many people have told me that Poecilia latipinna [Sailfin Molly] and Poecilia velifera [Giant Sailfin Molly] tend to do best in salt water. And besides they are great algae eaters. 👍

    • @zafishguy5166
      @zafishguy5166 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'll second this. Especially the sailfin mollies. You might have some trouble acclimating standard store bought mollies though

    • @charlottefalconer8602
      @charlottefalconer8602 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree too! I’ve got P velifera and they are the best clean up crew I’ve ever purchased and no risk of brining in marine white spot if they are acclimated from fresh to salt over a period of days.

      Agreed! I have been running a reefer XL200 for 6 months purely with Mollies I bred last year, getting disease free marine fish local to me has been harder the last year with shops closing so have just left the tank with lots of Mollies 😁

    I subbed on your maintenance vid.

    Maybe add a small tang? Good clean up fish & creates plenty of waste too so maybe a win win , tanks look great 👍🏻

    Hey bud I’m currently going through a Cyano outbreak. My tank is 7 months old and it’s a 38 gallon bowed front tank. It’s all over the rock and some areas on the sand. I have been doing 25% water changes every 6-7 days and it’s not slowing down. I moved my powerheads and the are placed 8” down from the top roughly right in the centre on each side pointing at each other for the most part. I was told to use Chemiclean. Would you do that, or do you have a better method. Your tanks look great.

    • @dazsboxofwater
      @dazsboxofwater 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d creat as much flow as possible & dose bacteria first before chemical to treat cyano, might take a few weeks thou. Check your parameters too, too low can create cyano & dynos too, good luck.

    • @Scott-cy6zv
      @Scott-cy6zv 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dazsboxofwater I have zero nitrates and nitrites and ammonia and salinity is 1.023. PH is 7.8. May I ask what bacteria to dose with as no one has mentioned this method to me. I really appreciate your knowledge and time to help me. And if I put a third 528gph powerhead down about 6” above sand that would help? Thank you SO much!

    • @dazsboxofwater
      @dazsboxofwater 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Scott-cy6zv just be careful you aren’t blowing your sand everywhere or covering corals ect , plenty of bacteria products - brightwell, special blend, dr Tim’s ect , I think I saw it on a brs video a while ago now, I always dose bacteria now , once every two week or a month, sometimes even a small amount after a water change especially if a larger water change too, maybe feed the fish a bit more to get nitrates & phos up , good luck & hope this helps.

    • @Scott-cy6zv
      @Scott-cy6zv 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dazsboxofwater your awesome! Ok I will figure out another place to put new powerhead and not use the Chemiclean. I wish I could post pictures in here to show how I have stuff positioned.

    Before getting my betta and setting up a 10 gallon, I was debating on a freshwater or saltwater now I want a saltwater tank, it just the beauty of the corals and fish that grabs my attention so my next tank setup will probably be a 55 gallon saltwater or a clownfish only 30 gallon tank.

  • @Garethaxz

    Starry Blennies are fantastic, it's rough struggling with low nutrient tanks. I'm not going to tell you to change anything with your routine since it's working, but if you can replace the main+trace elements without waterchanges you'll have an easier time keeping nutrients up by postponing them to a month or every-other.

    What nitrates and phosphate do you aim for? Have liked your videos last couple years.

    • @DannysAquariums
      @DannysAquariums  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t really aim for any specific levels, neither do I test very often. But when I do, they’re always at zero and I can confirm that by how the corals are doing/looking.

      Corals were irritated by it and eventually started dying, then the shrimp would start eating tissue.
