I wish I could do something for the industry, but being a student in a 3rd world country... also we have no physical stores here (except for maybe a rack in a store similar to how you described current Gamestop, and one at the local book store) well you know the deal, not going to bore you with the reasons, I am ashamed of this but It's the only way I can experience them, I'm using adblock so they don't get money for it, so there's at least that
Well enough of self pity and excuses for piracy, again good luck and hope you stabilize, your Hellboy videos were a part of making me want to read it, and it has become my favorite universe in media ever, so I have to thank you for that. cheers

I've been on a big spending spree this last month buying older books that i've wanted for a while, I have a lcs that's really struggling now and I want to support them, everyone should try to support their local shops if they can, buying book if you can, now would be a good time to pick up all that old stuff you want. where i live in Australia physical comics are not very popular and books are expensive, shipping is a real problem adding to book prices for us.
p.s. The Void is a f%cking awesome movie that you should watch Ryan, the hellraiser reboot we never knew we wanted.

the multi part video series "rise and fall of the comic empire" by sfdebris covers pretty well the situation on how diamond came to hold almost absolute power in distribution even though it more covers on how marvel was during the 90s but it was an important part nonetheless

Good luck, dudes. Shit's rough out there, but it's not gonna last forever. America is not going to just sit back and let millions of businesses go bankrupt. Landlords will still want the tenants. Owners will still want their businesses. Government will still want sales tax revenue and a healthy and employed electorate. There will be immense will and pressure to not let whole industries, including comics, just die off.

I miss my local comic book store. I haven't bought a comic book in ages. Regardless of what anyone says, it's very clear that the infusion of identity politics and SJW messaging has hurt sales and driven readers to other forms of entertainment (i.e. manga.) Sad because manga isn't my thing.
1 - Hasn't bought a comic in years.
2 - Proceeds to tell us what's wrong with comics.
3 - Offers no evidence of sales being lower (they're not), just a feeling.
Also, surprised manga is becoming more popular, while not understanding we've been in an Asian media boom the last few years. Korean movie winning best picture (Parasite), Squid Games being popular on Netflix, Korean boy bands becoming mainstream in the US, things like CrunchyRoll expanding marketing over last few years. It's almost like people are opening their eyes to new forms of entertainment they've never looked at before and are actively exploring them because they're the new hotness trend.
@@AlphaRookie 1- Your response here is very telling. Do I detect that someone is easily triggered? LOL. Iron Heart, America Chavez, gay Superman, Tim Drake ... on and on. No one wants to read that. 2- Someone needs to tell you if you can't see why your store is failing. 3- Check out The Daily Wire's excellent vid "Why comic book sales are at an all-time low."

I'd rather rely on distributors with concrete data about shipments and sales that show 2021 sales are above pre-pandemic levels and summer 2021 was one of the highest sales periods in years.
