Wasn't Allowed to put the heating on ! Wow! What kind of relationship was that ? Van life must seem like a blessing in disguise. Stay warm stay safe and great video by the way
Robert, this is one of the reasons why He is now an Ex and yes Buying/converting and being about to go out in my van was an escape . My van saved me! Then I met Mark who gave me the confidence and energy I needed to break away. ❤ Thanks for watching.
A diesel heater and silver window covers really are the 2 musts for fulltiming in the 🇬🇧. They really do make all the difference. Thanks for an interesting video.
Deffo yes to heating. My 1st year my heater broke and it was -3 in the van. After 3 months of winter i thought i was going to go insane or die in my sleep lol x
I see a FB post this morning with kids bed gone moldy. Sad 😟 both me and sioux are not scare of going out in the cold, but when we get back to the vans like some comfort. A cold van doesn't feel homely. I think I remember you post about knackered heater.
@@Roadshome omg thats aweful. Poor kids. Yea it's broken again like clockwork just in time for winter lol No the cold in a tin can compared to bricks n mortar seems to dig deeper through your bones for sure.
Yeah although like I said (sioux here) I had a ex husband who wouldn't let me put the heating on. Dropped to about 4°c at one point in bricks! This is one factor why he is a EX husband.
I've been living outside I know what cold is and you two are really super hat out of respect you are both great thank you for your videos and we explained everything thank you very much you are a good team and my heart is thank you very much Dirk
Great tips..its always down to what mods you can carry out..im always surprised at what gets the go ahead for mass production...just slightly better quality components can make a huge difference..👍
If a person can afford the best then why not buy it. If budget is all you can afford then it's what you end up with. We are lucky enough to be able to buy what we need or want for most things. Saying that we both would like our vans wrapped but can't afford the cost for a colour difference. If it was a cost for heating on the other hand we would pay it to be comfortable.
I have slept in my car for the past five years and never use any kind of heating in winter and keep all windows open day & night. Diesel or gas heaters stink and are definitely not healthy. With the right clothing you can be warm and comfortable no matter how cold it gets. I always sleep naked throughout the winter, even during winter snow storms in the mountains. Due to my windows always slightly open, and the fact that I open all doors every morning to air out any condensation, I have never, ever had a problem with damp or mold.
Yes it can be done, I used to wear shorts and T shirt all year round. Even in the alps at -18. So you your body can adjust. But it's not an easy life and definitely not for everyone.
@Roadshome It's not a hardship at all. I love it. The freedom and fresh air it provides. Plus a satisfaction of following a healthy and extremely enjoyable lifestyle.
@@alanhat5252 Yes true. It was very frosty 🥶 in the Scottish mountains last night...but I was toasty 🥵 in the 🪿 down bag. Expecting snow ❄️ 🌨️ tonight.

Working nights helps with heating 🤣 I'm sat in a building with heating all night then in the morning I leave work go for a drive wack the heaters on and it heats up 🤷 park up it's nice and warm jump into bed and go sleep 👍 wake up, engine on, heaters on, coffee and go gym and have a shower, BUT.. I prefer the cold plus I go to a place of work rather than doing something like TH-cam or working from home as some say, so a lot of the time I'm in a building anyway 🤷 if it gets to cold I simply pick up overtime at work, I will get a heater eventually though! 🤣 But for now the standard heaters from the engine and 12v electric blanket are working just fine (for me).. but will see when it goes into the minuses.. I might change my mind then! 🤣
What about wet cloth/ coat ? Do you dry them at work ? Mark used to work at a school but still have to use the heating for the dog. Another down side to hav8ng a dog.
@@Roadshome I work in care so I'm lucky enough to have access to a washer and dryer and the heating is always on, even in summer half the time 🤣 I don't tend to wonder far due to needing new hips, I only go into shops or work and get close parking spots 👍 so don't really get that wet but when I do I just take clothes off throw them in my wash tub and grab dry, my wash tub has a clip on lid so any damp stays sealed in the tub and it's not in there long and I'm back in work so worst case 48 hours over the weekend then it's washed and dried, I'm also not in a van yet.. I'm in a car 🤣.. should be getting a van in the next couple months 👍

I ended using a adapter to fill calor bottles at the LPG garages 😆 I'd park so the couldn't see until the garage owner caught me. Wasn't happy and told me not to come back 😒 lpg is much cheaper than rip off calor.

Got to have heating even if you are a cold loving freak. The van is not and will get damp and horrible just as you say.
Good video , agree with you ,and as you mentioned it makes vans very damp ,basically no heat wrecks the van eventually.
Good sound advice my lovelys stay cosy my friend ❤

I like the small van. No bills easy to clean and heat. I don't consider myself homeless and if I am, then I'm a happy homeless person 😊

Did he say heating .
If he did say "heating" and not "eating" then it was a mistake.
