      Mark, do you know what is SO strange, before I wrote my comment ''H.H. D.L. said at 5,06 ....'', I actually wrote almost the same comment you've written here. But I 'Cancelled' it, after taking a photograph, which shows 'Raj Jag Consultant Geologist' as '1 hour ago'. I thought I would use this heartfelt comment on a more popular future Dalai Lama video topic. I noticed in the 'Newest First' sequence that my new comment sits beside yours (this one). My comment read ''We are so lucky to be living in a time when such a great being is so easily available to us.'' It's OK if you did, but did you somehow see my comment? Perhaps I clicked 'Comment' then cancelled? I'm just puzzled.

      Summary (not exact words) :- Through elimination of karma and delusion, there is liberation. Attachment, anger and ignorance are the 3 poisons to eliminate. Rumination ( = clinging and focusing excessively on your problems) is a destructive emotion which causes suffering. This misconception of reality is a 2nd type of ignorance. To overcome it consider this :- 'Nothing exists objectively as it appears'. Modern quantum physics proves this. In India this was known over 2000 years ago.

      @Mentally Bentally The internet says the Council of Trent was between 13 Dec 1545, and 4 Dec 1563 in Italy. I don't believe that law is in effect now or is held by any Catholic on earth. If some psychopath clawed his way to power long ago, and said rubbish, then that's unfortunate. The overriding message of Catholicism is ''Practice love and compassion''. I used to be a Catholic. You've said your point, I've said mine, so now let's just leave it at that please.

      *About relation with others; our 'pradnya' (wisdom) guides the way.* It analyses wide spectrum of emotions as a response to stimulus to environment (human sometimes), then selects one emotion or combination of few to react.
      Yes Sis, agree with you. *When it come to helping other, compassion is the appropriate emotion. When it works in combination with 'upekhha' (indifference), we saves ourselves from hooking in to 'bhawa chakka' (vicious wheel).

So we need to practice compassionate way of life with it shall tame this distractive mind . Such a way of life would be divine to the world peace .

But then again his spelling was immaculate! Or maybe he knew you weren't soft. Actually, I wouldn't have gone down that route if it were not for you prompting me. I understand your reasoning for testing (big bro). Just out of curiosity, I was really hoping to get an actual amount of money quoted. Frankly, I expected that whole comment stream to have been pulled down by now. Maybe the expectation is that someone else will step in to the 'rescue'? What do you think the chances are (in %) that it's all a corrupt 32 year old Nigerian or similar?
      By the way, I have no idea what you mean by ''tools''. My best guess is 'strategies'. Now it's time for me to get some builders in to redesign and reconstruct my brain. Hahaha. Maybe I am more earthquake-proof than you think. :-D

      There is no point in using the wheel of stones today as was in stone age.
      Once we understand that Jet reaches faster we should walk on our feet towards it to have a test ride.
      Any *% of probability* of success then should be accepted with gratitude & humble gesture as it will be outcome of contributions of more than 50,000 human generations.
      We are no one to decide who were *wrong or right* in them in *any age* of the time.
      Non proper, as we understands is expelled out as humans kept *creating space* for good to better & from better to the best.
      We too march forward with best of our capacities by caring & carrying as *best* as we can.

      Something I found very interesting after 10:27 min :- In Tibetan Buddhist traditions, sometimes very advanced Tantric adepts choose to take any of the '3 poisons' (attachment, anger and ignorance) into their path. (Usually they are to be eliminated). They like neutralising the poisons and transforming them into medicine. (Summary of H.H. D.L.)

      Bruce Roberts I agree that it is definitely inspiring that it can be done. These strong emotions can be taken into the path, whether tantric or not, if you understand that they are changeable. In order to see that, it's best to develop a good understanding of "emptiness" or interconnectedness/interdependence. The energy that those emotions bring up can be used to arise qualities pertinent to the path, and as such can become very useful. However, at that point they become something other than the base emotions. For example, from the initial feeling of anger, clarity can arise. It doesn't remain as anger. In that sense it's not exactly magical, it's merely seeing more clearly how these emotions arise, what their qualities are and how to transform them or better use them. Nevertheless I guess in a way you could call the transforming part "magical" in the sense that is rare to transform something typically harmful into something useful, but it ultimately will happen only due to your understanding and perception.

      @@Zayras7 Thanks for your thought-provoking reply. I agree. In the past, when life felt too hard for me I asked the Universe to calm things down and it happened instantly. But I think I grew less as a result. Surely the more intensely you experience life's difficulties, the more sympathy and compassion you feel for others, the more wise you might be, and the more you grow spiritually? I studied alchemy a little bit. About psychologically transforming your base emotions (lead), through temperance (refinement), into positive more spiritual qualities (gold). The alchemist would willingly invite and accept waves of challenging trials from life. Then by repeatedly removing layers of the lower, egotistical qualities of the personality (dross) as they arise, eventually, all that remains is the positive, essential Spirit (elixir)(gold). Or enlightenment? So like you say, I think people can choose to turn life up or down like the volume button on a radio. Although I imagine the Tibetan masters do it in a way that would make my jaw drop. At this time my focus is on exploring the gorgeous perspective the Dalai Lama describes in these 3 videos. If you wish to share any more insights, please do so, and know it would be appreciated. Incidentally, the last half of your reply suddenly disappeared.

      @Zayras7 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bruce Roberts what I have understood from my practice and from the practice of friends who are not Buddhist, who I deeply trust and respect, is that wisdom is wisdom. The words might be different, but words are very finicky; they are mere pointers to the wisdom that is within us all. The Tibetan Buddhist teachings are very thorough and complete, but they can also be a lot to navigate through. The reason they are so effective is due to their completeness, but as teachers often say, take whatever is helpful to you and the rest is okay to forget for now. If you need it later, you can come back to it, or it may come back to you. It's easy to get stuck or go in circles otherwise.
