    Fun fact from the books: Harry got the prize money for winning the tournament in year 4. But he (understandably) didn't want it, so he gave it to Fred and George . That's why they could afford starting the joke shop :)

      Yeah, he was going to give the money to Cedric's parents, but they didn't want it. The twins were hesitant to accept it because it was *a lot* of money, but Harry almost force them to take it and made them swear that they wouldn't tell their mom where they got the money and that they would buy Ron a new (and decent) dress robe as a gift xd Apart from wanting them to start their shop I think Harry gave the money to the twins because they were conned by Ludo Bagman and lost all their savings because of him.

    I don’t think Slughorn was ever involved in the Dark Arts I just think he finds /all/ types of magic fascinating and always wants to get the “one up” on everyone by knowing all different types of magic like how he “collects” privileged students/adults so he could reap the benefits as well just for being friends with them.
    And Draco didn’t call Filch a “squid” he called him a “squib” and that’s a person who was born from wizard/witch parents but has no magical ability(the opposite of muggle borns). Squibs are treated just as badly as muggle borns from bigoted purebloods.

    • @houseofaction

      slughorn had considerable knowledge of the dark arts, one has to have knowledge of the dark arts to be competent in defense against the dark arts
      he was such a skilled wizard that Lucious commented to draco about slughorns competence and albus openly respected slughorns abilities, he was extremely skilled in occlumency as well so much so that Dumbledore wasn't able to get into his mind and see his true memory

    Yes, he returned to the Dursleys. I mentioned in a previous video that it was an important point. It was explained either at the end of the last book or the beginning of this one that when his mother died, it cast a protective charm on Harry. So wherever her blood - her sister Petunia - lives, he can be guaranteed that same protection as long as he can call that house home or until he comes of age at 17. That is why he had to return to the Dursleys every summer. And it's Squib not squid. The reason Tom Riddle asked Slughorn was because he was one of Slughorn's favorite students, so, therefore could be easily manipulated. And, of course, Riddle was a master manipulator.

    The way JK wasn’t afraid to kill off important characters and have all these twists and turns where we lose and gain trust of different characters is what makes this series so good. If Dumbledore and Sirius had not died, if we had not questioned then lost faith in Snape, if we had not temporarily lost faith in Mad eye and Hagrid, and if Bellatrix had not been such a wretchedly terrible person, we wouldn’t have such an emotional connection to this and it wouldn’t be this good or realistic.
    Edit: oh yeah, and Cedric lol (I completely forgot he existed for a second). Also when we temporarily lost faith in Remus and when we gained trust in Sirius. That was cool.

    Half-Blood Prince is one of my absolute favorites, the book and the movie. Quite possibly my favorite overall but Deathly Hallows are amazing too. Btw the young Tom Riddle in this film is played by Ralph Fiennes' (Voldemort) nephew and the young adult Tom Riddle is played by the son of the actor who played Stannis Baratheon on Game of Thrones. The original Tom Riddle actor from the 2nd movie was not brough back because this was filmed 7 years later and he was deemed a little too old to play school Tom.

    If you really like these films and find the story very interesting: There is no way you will get around reading or hearing the books OR at least watching a video that explains the details that weren't in the movies or even wrong there.
    I have heard all the Audiobooks for at least 3 times, so I am quite into the material and there are so so many things that connect these films/books. The very first chapter of the first book plays a kind of important role in the very last chapter of the last book actually which is crazy in my opinion.
    But enough of this, HERE ARE SOME ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS (Of course no spoilers 😉)
    - 3:34 Well, yes. The ministry is trying to push against Voldemort and the Death Eaters, but they have no chance since for once the dementors have gone over to Voldemort, Death Eaters aren't bound by any rules so they can use any charms they want (for example Imperio and you can understand that it is very difficult to find Death Eaters if they use other people to carry out their more dangerous plans under the Imperio-Curse). I can't tell you much about how the Death-Eaters are operating while the 6. film/book because there isn't much told about it in the books either, but it is true, that they are also interfering in the muggle world
    - 4:20 Yes, Bellatrix is the older sister of Narcissa Malfoy
    - 4:42 In this scene, Snape makes the unbreakable vow, that he will protect Draco while his job to kill Dumbledore and that if Draco is unsuccessful he will finish this job. And to answer a question later. The unbreakable vow means that you are going to die if you do something against it
    - 5:24 Yes, and they are running it because Harry gave them his TriWizard-price (1000 Galleons) to start this jokeshop because he thought they could need a bit more fun in the world right after Voldemort returned and he didn't want the money because he has plenty from his mother and father and because he felt that it wasn't his at all but Cedrics and he didn't deserved it. Fred and George are doing some useful stuff as well though, like hats that surround who every is wearing them with a shield-charm because many people (even people in the ministry) can't produce proper shield-charms.
    - 5:50 Yes, it is. Just a short fun-fact here (or not so funny actually): Voldemort worked at this shop after finishing Hogwarts for a while (although he first applied for the post of Defence against the dark arts and after he worked there and was in other countries for a while tried it again and after failing to get the job twice jinxed it so that no Defence against the dark Arts professor would be able to teach longer than a year)
    - 10:02 Interesting enough we actually learn what the potion of living-death is in the books (the very first one actually, if I am not mistaken). The potion of living death is a sleeping-potion which is so strong that it is called the potion of living-death. I think you know why.
    - 10:22 There are no specific explanations about liquid luck (Felix Felicis) from J. K. Rowling, however there are of course Fan-Theories. Here is one for example (ONLY WATCH AFTER YOU WANTED ALL MOVIES since I am not sure if there are spoilers in there): th-cam.com/video/IHIrD6hVBmY/w-d-xo.html
    - 10:53 The thing with the invisibility cloak is actually pretty straight forward. Dumbledore send it to Harry because he had it at the time Harries Father died and passed it on to Harry therefor. It was actually even briefly mentioned in the first movie
    - 11:17 OH NO, these aren't all about Voldemort/Tom Riddle. Actually only very few are about him since it is very difficult to find memories of him. The others are probably other things that Dumbledore want's to collect or maybe just get out of his head
    - 13:02 I am not 100% sure but they are drinking it in their 3rd Year at Hogwarts (when they are 13) so, I don't think so.
    - 14:59 I don't know if it's actually mentioned in the movie, but Harry didn't put anything in this drink. Ron was just so good because he wasn't nervous anymore.
    - 15:57 No, I am pretty shure, he called him a Squib, which is the official term for a baby of at least 1 Wizard who has no magical capabilities. Squibs are always outcasts in the magical community and some mothers are even ashamed of themselves if they have a squib as a baby. Very strict Purebloods might even kill them or give them away into the muggle world. At least they are treated very poorly by all the other people inside the magical community.
    - 18:37 Well, not that it really matters but it's an interesting fact anyway: Dumbledore is gay (EDIT: I read a fair point of somebody in the comments that this is kind of a spoiler for Fantastic Beasts but I will leave this fact in here, because it was also a known fact years before Fantastic Beasts ever got released so for me it doesn't really count like a spoiler)
    - 19:07 They aren't talking because you can also produce spells without saying the incantation but it requires a lot more determination and mind-power. In fact this is kind of unrealistic, because Harry was never able to produce non-verbal spells under normal condition
    - 19:39 He was crying because all his plans weren't working and he was under immense pressure since Voldemort would kill him if he didn't succeed in killing Dumbledore or at least helping with it
    - 19:51 The Harry-Ginny relationship is way better in the books. That's all I'm going to say about this
    - 21:11 Yes, that was the picture. He fightend two people from the orphanage in this cave that they were not the same afterwards at the time he didn't know that he was a wizard.
    - 21:25 Slughorn, although it isn't really obvious, even in the books, is a very very powerful wizard who has a lot of knowledge about almost everything. That's why he was in hiding for one year before he came to Hogwarts, because Voldemort wanted him on his side and they were on the lookout for him the whole time
    - 21:33 This is actually never fully adressed in the movies which makes me really sad, because it makes the character of Dumbledore much deeper. I won't say it here though, why he said all this while drinking this potion because it is very slightly adressed in the last two movies, but I will write a whole comment about it after you watched the last movie and uploaded it. This story makes Dumbledore at least twice as interesting in my opinion
    - 22:07 You can't even imagine Dumbledores Power. Actually this is probably nothing for him if he would be healthy, but this potion drained him from almost all of his power.
    - 22:21 No, the weather isn't changing because of Voldemort. That was just a metaphor of Hagrid. But, in the 6th book there is actually a lot more mist in the world, because the Dementors are breading. Seems odd, yes. I will keep it by that
    - 22:45 As a child this movie/book was my least favorite just because of this scene. Dumbledore (my favorite character) dying. Of course, I see it different now, but it's still a dark moment every time. Oh, and Dumbledore immobilised Harry under the invisibility cloak before this scene happened so that Harry couldn't intervene and because of these few moments wasn't able to block Malfoys disarming. I think the movie-version is just not possible, because Harry would instantly attack Snape after that
    - 25:19 Yes, Fawkes was never seen after this because he was gone together with Dumbledore. But on a happier note, another FunFact from the 4th book. Fawkes tale-feathers are both the core of Harries and Toms wands
    Man, this is a long comment 😂 I would really appreciate feedback on this comment, because if it is positive I will of course make such a comment for the last movies too, especially since there are so many interesting things that were left out of the next two movies (especially the last one) or just not explained very good and there are even some mistakes in these movies.
    Thanks for your videos. They really make me relieve my childhood when I watched the movies and read the books for the first time.

    In the Harry-Draco duel you observed that they casted spells "without talking" but Sectumsempra was spoken. That's because there are verbal spells and non-verbal spells, although some verbal spells can be casted non-verbally and some non-verbal spells can be casted verbally, you get maximum effect of the spell if you cast it right. And depending on the simplicity/difficulty of spell and how powerful of wizards you are, most spells become non-verbal eventually if you use them on a daily basis, but some verbal spells have to be verbal at all times because its power is in the incantation.

    Slughorn loves famous students or students he feels will go on to have very bright futures. He likes to be connected to powerful witches and wizards. He had a "Slug Club" which was the dinner scene and the Christmas party. Tom Riddle (Voldemort) was one of Slughorn's favorite students (he didn't know he was into dark arts). Riddle used to offer flattery and complements as he was supposedly very charming and well liked. He knew that Slughorn liked him and so he asked him about Horcruxes pretending it was for school or for academic purposes only. Slughorn told him about them and basically how to do it. But he was ashamed so he magically sealed the memory and buried it away. He knew that Riddle grew up to be Voldemore and likely did exactly what he told him all those years ago. But no, Slughorn was not a deatheater or into the dark arts. In fact, he was on the run trying to hide from them and avoid them as they were seeking to recruit him as he is a talented wizard.

    Draco has been put into a bad spot not only by his Dad but also Bellatrix is living with them and basically controlling Malfoy's as she's one of the closest followers of Voldemort. Fun fact: Notice how Harry's father figures are all colour related, and how they die. Sirius BLACK, ALBUS (Latin(?) for white) Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore. One might wonder about RUBEUS (Red in Latin) hagrid's faith in the last two movies ;| .
    The colour development is seen in the art of Alchemy as well. In some alchemic process they tried to work with mercury. When heating it in a crucible it first emits black smoke, then white smoke, then yellow, and at last red smoke. Who in the series is the yellow one?

    • @Aithis.
      @Aithis. 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Remus Lupin might be yellow if you're correct. Over here we have a plant/flower called a yellow lupine and that's the main varient of the plant to be yellow, the white colour equivalent is called the lupinus albus.

    So the Dementors have an impact on the weather. Remember in the 5th when they showed up and everything got dark? They're usually all at Azkaban all the time, so that place is really horrible. They affect not just the prisoners' minds but even their environment gets depressing. But now that they're on Voldemort's side, they're all over the place so it's perpetually dark and foggy.
    The Half-Blood Prince definitely makes more sense as a title and side plot in the book than the movie. In the book, Harry's fairly obssessed with it and Hermione keeps calling him out on it, basically comparing the book to the diary in the 2nd movie. Harry keeps trying out these spells without even knowing what they do, and it culminates of course with Malfoy. But it's something that preoccupies him all movie and he desperately wants to know the identity of the Prince.

    • @procrastinator547
      @procrastinator547 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya dementors cause a cold shift in the weather but that’s not what hagrid meant. It was pretty clearly metaphorical, as it’s a fairly common expression to say, there’s a storm brewing, or something like that when there’s trouble on the horizon.

    • @MsMaggyW
      @MsMaggyW 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@procrastinator547 I think he meant it literally and figuratively because there was a literal storm brewing when he looked out the window and said that.

    I’m also super impressed with how much you’re able to pick up and remember from small flashes and bits of information. Most people I know who don’t already know the books can’t watch and understand the movies, let alone remember everything and connect to and love the characters.

    If you want to see more development with Harry and Ginny then I'd definitely recommend reading the books. Ginny actually has a personality in the books. The films really did the character soooo dirty

    • @Melanie-jy2nw
      @Melanie-jy2nw 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      While she did have a personality in the books, I still couldn’t get on board with the couple. I always wanted him to end up with a Slytherin maybe Daphne Greengrass (or Draco Malfoy but that’s for fanfiction) because I felt it would show that not all Slytherin are evil. It would be more then black and white and Harry would grow as a person from it.

    • @yoitsme5640
      @yoitsme5640 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mélanie it would be even more out of no where than. Him and Ginny actually makes sense. They grew up together and stuff. Him and a Slytherin would be random

    • @Melanie-jy2nw
      @Melanie-jy2nw 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      ihave011eggos I mean like in the fifth or six book it can be integrated. And how would it be out of nowhere? He’s seventeen, it’s much more weird that he ended up with his first real girlfriend that he’s known since he was eleven. Imagine in the fifth book, a Slytherin girl like Daphne Greengrass, came up to them wanting to be part of the DA and actually learn shit. She found out about it cause she’s sneaky. At first, no one wants to let her in but then they do and she and Harry start to bond, he sees that not all Slytherin are bad. And that being manipulative or ambitious doesn’t necessarily mean being a bad person. Much more interesting and deep then his relationship with Ginny,

    When you watch people who haven't read the book watch the movies, you realize just how many questions these people must have. He asked like 10 questions that I was like... they answered that in a previous book, or you get that answer in the next book, or (more than likely) it was answered in the current one but WB decided to just not add it to the movie... That has to be infuriating.

    They didn't really change Tom Riddles looks, they're showing him when he's younger than in the Chamber of Secrets. After he achieves the horcruxes is probably what changed his looks.
    I love how you sympathisize with Draco and that he's really the victim. This was probably one of my favorite movies (other than the 3rd).

    • @psyderp1242
      @psyderp1242 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      nope, that scene is after when the chamber was opened. the first horcrux he made was the diary, and then he went to the gaunt family house and took the ring off of morfin. here he looks much younger than he did in movie 2 than he did here even though he's meant to be older.
