    Definitely one of the most beautiful cars from Ferrari - a sleek yet elegant design that is full of subtleties, as you point out - rolling sculpture.

      I know it’s a 7 figure car, but have always wondered why it’s always a fraction of the cost of a SWB.

    Thanks for this mesmerizing Lusso video. I have never seen a camera shot showing how the hood looks driving ahead. It makes me feel like I'm there. This car is so delicate looking even though you know it's tough. I have loved this car since I was a teenager many moons ago.

      If I had the money, I would have bought a Lusso when they were a fraction of what they are now, but alas, they were too expensive for me even then! Luckily, I can care for a couple of them that my clients own and drive them on occasion! Thanks for watching!

    I understand the SWB has the race heritage and led to the GTO, but the Lusso is so much more elegant. A true sixties Grand Tourer.

      Considering the price differential, I think the Lusso is the relative bargain!

      @@marcusbonello3106 I never understood the logic of not installing an Overdrive on these cars, especially since the PF Coupe that preceded it had an overdrive and the successor, the GTC had a 5 speed gearbox.

    Love that sound. Amazing how similar it sounds to the GTC. I mean not that amazing. The engines are very similar. I always loved the Lusso too, but my favorite is the SWB. I’ll never forget the day I fist layer eyes on one in Ridgefield at Francois’s. I think I was maybe 7. I can still see that car in my mind.

  • @gitchermotrrunnin
    @gitchermotrrunnin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Agree it is a gorgeous car. Since Ferrari was not into mass production is the body work hand formed? I always liked the look of the what I call deep dish wire wheels. They give the car a powerful look, which this car can back up.

    • @tomyangnet
      @tomyangnet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Even though this car was designed by Pininfarina, it was built by Scaglieti and like most coach builders in Italy back then, the panels were largely hand built. I’m sure they had bucks and templates, but when it came time to putting them on the car, they were still hand formed, gas welded and hammered into shape!

    • @tomyangnet
      @tomyangnet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's something you don't see much anymore. It's called an ashtray. Before we found out it was bad for our health, people used to smoke cigarettes everywhere, even when driving!... But seriously, can you imagine smoking in a 7 figure car and having the stray ember burn holes in your leather interior?

    • @natantaz
      @natantaz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tomyangnet Decades ago I saw a (then) new Testarossa on the paddock of a race track and the interior was covered in cigarette ash. It was shocking to me how little the owner cared about a car that in my mind was an absolute dream car that deserved much better care.

    @peterb3842 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @Tom, have read in the past that the Lusso is under geared compared to something like the GTE or the PF Coupe, which has an overdrive. Thoughts? Thanks!

    • @tomyangnet
      @tomyangnet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The one downside to a Lusso is it’s lack of overdrive. Some owners have installed a GTE transmission to solve this problem. The SWB has the same issue.

    Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned
    from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the
    Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by
    reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated
    central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down
    all the gas pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From
    2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as
    exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox
    oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no
    investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even
    created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. "Bundesabgasbespaßungsverbot" in German. :-///

      There's a organic sculptural look that Vintage Ferraris have from that era that I love. The modern cars have a technical, functional look that appeals to a different aesthetic. Thanks for agreeing with me!

    One of the most beautiful Ferraris ever, but, -please, please, please, just let the car do the talking: don't talk, going on and on about this or that. Talking over the sound of the V-12 is a crime.
