One missing piece nobody shows in their progressions - once you start kipping you are not exactly in the hollow position on the backswing because in a hollow hold your legs would be straght with no knee bend. The reason you can do that little "frog kick" to assist in hop popping is that when kipping everybody introduces a slight knee bend into the post arch position so you can kick your feet down while popping hips up into a kip. I dont know why nobody mentions this, but you can see it on any slo-mo replay.
Can you do any video on a how to guide to unlock the hip drive? I'm struggling with bar muscle ups because I don't activate my hip... same for pull up or c2b, volume not great because of the same issue. Many thanks
It’s better for higher volume pull ups. During a workout you may have 100+ pull ups to get through. In CrossFit it’s usually about speed/time taken to complete the reps. And if you do strict pull ups you’ll hit muscular failure very quickly, or just be too slow to compete. Also, if you aren’t interested in competing with your friends etc, you can always do strict. But chances are, you won’t hit the intended stimulus for the workout.

Love the new studio, but please split screen the side view with the front views like older videos, not as good without it! 😢
Trickiest part is to connect to start the second rep
5:22 So... to make it easier you swing? That's about all I got from this whole clip.
Excellent tuition…….but still can’t do it.

But why is it better than strict pull up??
Nice question! Haha

It's not better. It's for a different purpose
Why the hell would you do that??
i was told to look this up, man, that pull up looks ridiculous
Step 0. Stop doing this
It is not pull up volume since they are not real pull ups. It is more volume of something else.
