The decade of manure + the added fertility of you high management likely created a perfect environment for white mold. We just dealt with white mold on all of our beans in which the corn got chicken litter. When we were in fields where there was no manure on before corn there was no white mold
I've seen video's of Amish reclaim the cinder blocks on the old cement silos. Maybe there's a group in your area that will come and take those silos down for freeish?
7:10 min....... That face when you pull up from work and or on lunch come home to see your child/children and see those smiles, Hell I smiled from this since I'm 11 hours away from my Family. Thanks Cole... Love the videos.
Agriculture is a science. You will figure out, when you aren't run down and sick, what happened with your beans. Just remember how well you've done in the other fields. Incredible how you're all interchangeable. Makes things run so smoothly, at least the 3 of you make it look organized. Great job! You have many things to be thankful Cole. Down here in Warren County, things aren't so good. It's been dry all summer. When it did rain, it was a major storm with wind, hail, small tornadoes. Then back to hot. Your mind is on continual fast forward it seems. Getting the last bit of the farm cleaned up. It looks fantastic compared to the first videos. ❤😊
Prayers for speedy recovery for all the sick cornstars and lil Eddie 🙏 Its that time of year again, make sure you get your vitamin C. Thanks for pushing through to get us a video Cole..

I hope you all are feeling better soon. Edward is so adorable. Love his smile! That ear of corn is huge! I'm hoping they are all like that and that you guys have a huge crop this year. The area where you have the white mold on the beans, will you have to treat the ground with something so it doesn't effect next years crop? You guys are really getting it all done!
Another great video today Cole, Too bad about the White Mold on Tabletop, but on the bright side it was only spotty and limited to just one bean field. Now You get to enjoy the family cold just like DC & Momma Cornstar used to when you were little LOL. Hopefully Corn will be a Bountiful crop this year and can't wait to see how the new corn head works out from Coopers endeavor. Thanks as always for bringing us along on your journeys
Re the bad soybean area. If u applied some kind of enrichment, it may have been contaminated. Soil may have more compaction or old contamination of either a chemical or a wind blown disease. The roots were dead and the stalks could be sent to lab for ID. I woudl repeat the same next yr and watch that area during growing to see if u see plants r dying .Nutrients obviously weren’t getting to plant I hope u keep a journal like an almanac
I’ve been sickly every since the start of harvest, not enough to get down but enough that you don’t want to get up. Been so dry I think the fine particles in the air it’s playing havoc with sinuses.
In regards to cleaning out the waste from the old hog barn, would the Skid-Vac from Beekman Vac like Larson Farms has or a Vacuum Truck be the best option for removing both the solids and liquids quickly, easily, and economically?
Here in Oregon, most farmer (Grass seed) gave up on manure spreading becuase it rarely produced noticeable results. might be the same thing with Soybeans since fescue and soybeans are closely related.
Sad Nave and Ed are sickly hope they'll get better soon. Cole change up your foods it's not good to eat the same meals every day. Enjoyed the show and keep em coming. Congrats on your bean harvest being completed.
He could build a spiral staircase along the inside wall to create his own bell tower like the Leaning Tower of Pisa, except his wouldn't be leaning. Build an observation deck on top with a sturdy railing, so no one falls off. LOL
If you remove the stave silo's and the building, consider a bin so you can save beans for that governement money. Use what you know now for an approch for a truck!
'Tis the season for the crappy crud; so sorry the family has had to battle it. Maybe time to adjust your nutritional intake for a short period to battle the vitamin deficiencies and strengthen your ability to fight this stuff. Y'all are doing great and harvest will be done soon! Blessings!!
Of course I was going to watch it by any title anyway. Suggest going a little more over the top Cole: “White mold besieges farm; Crops devastated! Story at 10 pm.” 😂
Sorry to hear you ruined your farm. You think you'll try to buy another one or find a new career? Maybe your brother will hire you on to help with his hay.
It's good your eating differant food and feeling better. Here's your new control study on your health. Great yields on the peas all your thinking is paying off.
We had company come out and pump where a dairy barn when we bought a farm, was big bucks to suck up poop. Which the DNR said had to be done. Than we back filled it.
It's not that big of a deal. It will just need to be pump into a honey wagon and disced or knifed into the field. The worst case scenario is they may need to pay to have a sample tested but probably not. Hog manure gets spread all over from hog confinements.
Total non-farmer here but , why can’t old silos be used for grain storage? My assumption is too expensive to retrofit with efficient removal equipment? Just a guess.
A big well pump will help remove that nasty water, you could save the water and filter it to spray on the fields, maybe supply a nice pond on your property and the earth will filter it out
I wonder if you spot test your soil to determine what is needed to grow your crops. Not every field has the same soil make up right? Trial and error and charting are all part of farming. Great video.
When testing variables, test 1 at a time. Or do factorial tests. When you make too many changes at once, you fail to learn which was the actual difference.
Maybe you should have left a tiny patch of the bad bean crop and a tiny patch of the good crop so one of your bean experts could take a look and give you his thoughts. Hope the Fam gets over the bug quickly. Edward sure seems on the mend.
Excess Nitrogen = Less beans? I can't recall exactly, but something to do with too much nitrogen, and you will get more foliage, and less bean. So sometimes the most fertile soil, can be a hindrance? So you likely improved your soil, but reduced your bean harvest for this year. (next year will likely be insane though?) Worth a bit of reading and another round of Testing at least.

Will some of your experts possibly know what was going on with the white mold on the beans ?
You folks may just have a MASSIVE corn harvest. And really hope you will!
Did you tryout the rubbing alcohol on the sticky rubber yet ? Works good. Just takes about 10 min of cleaning.

Can you use the hog water on the fields? Even if you have to work it into the soil. It would be beneficial for the corn.
Use the old silos by wrapping them in stone and converting to bed and breakfasts or a dandy playhouse/observatory.

He soil tested extensively
When testing variables, test 1 at a time. Or do factorial tests. When you make too many changes at once, you fail to learn which was the actual difference.
What was wrong with the Red Volvo truck ? Fuel filters?
Maybe if this soybean variety grows bigger plants then u can give them more space to grow, so the shade effect is lessoned.
You need to rest!!! Be careful everyone.

Cornstars own the land and Rusty is renting the house

Worth a bit of reading and another round of Testing at least.
I think you have to pump it out.. Call a fertilizer company and see if it can be used as fertilizer like cow manure is.
Ryan over at How Farms Work had some Amish or Mennonite people take down their silo to repurpose it, rather than destroying it
