Luke has got to score off his own offense against top opponents. In last 2 matches he didn't come close to scoring off his offense. I'm sure the coaches and Luke will find a way but maybe the older kids are bigger and stronger and have studied how to tie up his attack hand and fingers and slow him down. But at this point maybe national champ predictions should be tempered a bit until Luke can generate his own offense against top tier opponents. Rooting for Lightening Luke to keep his attack hand free so lightening can strike.
Shocking performance by Luke. Could not get thru Peterson's head hand defense. Didn't get to legs once? Vs a non AA? Wow. Lack of fight with :17 left on the restart is also alarming. Does our non AA at 125 continue this year?
SVN is one of the most athletic, skilled and technical wrestlers around and has been pounding opponents using these traits. Lovett however, dragged him into an alley and made it a street fight. IMO Shane was not ready to switch gears for this IN THIS MATCH. Picking Shane in a rematch, if he can keep Lovett's leg out which Is part of Lovett's brawling.
Their coaching style in Iowa is still brutality over technique, and they don’t know how to change….no team unity, and every kid is an object. Last years PSU squad won a national award for TEAM GPA of 3.85….that should tell everyone a lot about Caels mindset and teams.
I thought Penn State looked a bit flat last night. Perhaps they are looking ahead to Iowa. Maybe I used to seeing lots of bonus points in lots of bouts. I was impressed by Bartlett 's match, though. Instead of plodding around, Beau was fast and decisive last night with lots of shots.
When a kid like the 157 pounder of Rutgers wrestled the entire match with his arms locked open, it’s tough to score sometimes. The refs won’t stall a kid out, so you end up with almost 4 mins of riding time.
I just listened to Rutgers presser, and Goodale said he underestimated Penn State in their ability to ride….WHAT? Then, punk Peterson, who while his teammates were getting hammered, was on his phone disparaging Penn State on X, acted as if he had won a world championship. Rutgers was seconds away from getting shutout, and I think Goodale thinks his teammates is in a great spot.
lilledahl just didn’t seem like he was into it tonight also davis does not look good at all. he really looked apprehensive. bartlett- why does he keep letting guys escape? i don’t see him winning next friday or against mendez especially.
Buchanan might be favored, but he has no gas tank….Kasak is much stronger, and I think it will be interesting. Will Brands send Gabe out against Starocci?
Luke did look like he didn't want to wrestle. Also Josh Barr looked insane nevwr saw someone break 3 guys in a minute. Josh barr broke Posnanski then if you looked at the Mirasolas they looked broken too gonna need to find a new school if he doesn't drop to 184 next season.
Enjoy your analysis, great job.

He needed a yr to redshirt he's not strong enough and a little bigger it's a shame he doesn't have the luxery
You can tell he's physically immature compared to these seasoned D1 wrestlers. He still looks like a high schooler out there. No physical prowess.
@@x22fabuloushe was a all American last yr
Beau could flip the switch at Rutgers and start evening things out a bit. That would be nice.
Barr was awesome!
Penn State will roll over Iowa. 7-8 wins for the boys
30-3 Good guys.

I think Iowa should try to build a wrestling team instead of buying a team
Agreed. It hurts chemistry, and that matters.
I agree...Brands aren't recruiting like most top 10 coaches, so they wait to see how many kids at Nattys are willing to be bought to come to Iowa.

Not as dominant as I expected. I'm afraid the lack of challenges has not sharpened the wrestling of PSU.
They need to start wrestling. They go into BIG10s with barely over a dozen matches

Barr's performance reminded me of a bulked up & stronger Messenbrink
Great comparison.
165, 184, 197, will be fun to watch.
Barr made Poz quit. Id throw Poz off the team for quitting on the team the very night Bassett was in town for a visit 😂
Wouldn’t call Davis an “It” wrestler…
Good show.
PSU has a chance to shut Iowa out...look at the matchups...10-0 is very possible.

Kasak won’t be favored over Jacori Teemer and Buchanan will be favored over Barr.

DA may not go Friday.. injured?

Pretty sure they knew they were red shirting coming in to Penn State. They will be in the lineup next season with Carter and Kervilet moving on
@tonythetrainer61 not if Barr decides to stay at 197
