Thank you Mr. HUMBLE SERVANT. I did the same things you did except.....used the shovel to make my path and mound my beds. I used a hoe to make the path and pull the dirt on both sides of the mound. Later this year when it is time for fall crops, I certainly will be using the shovel to make my rows and mounds. You are a one stop shop.......you can do a lot of things on the homestead. Kool tiller .. they are the best … I bought mine new 50 yrs ago Troy built … still have it ….you can till with one hand just need to adjust proper depth… it does all the work for you …excellent machines
The old Troy builds are pretty good. The new ones are Chinese garbage. But if you want to talk about “the best” that would be the BCS walk behind tractor.

Thats the right way to grow anything! On top of raised ridges. Start saving for a BCS with a rotary plow attachment. It’s one of the best investments I’ve ever made.

There's a easier way to farm with the area that you're using to farm on, if it was grass already there and I don't know if you did your soil sample but just assuming that you did your soil sample and the nitrogen is not all the way balanced or soil was hard, laying cardboard on it then compost on top of the cardboard add some water for moisture then 2 inch of wood chips that's been grated let it sit for the time it needs to sit for when you're going to do the next season planting and you won't have to till you just take a break and go right through the shredded wood chips with a stick to make your line for planting and with the fruit trees you do the same method but only using whole word chips around the fruit trees roots and that keeps moisture and so you won't even have to water your garden that much and you definitely won't have to tilling this is the back to Eden method with Paul Gautschi and I've been studying the back to Eden method for a while and it is the best method, so much easier way of growing food its the same method that you see in the rainforest and in the bush no one tills the ground out there and naturally fruit trees grow without anybody tilling the ground and actually vegetables grow without anybody breaking up the ground cuz when you break up the ground your actually destroying the nitrogen and all the good bacteria in the soil. I have land in Africa virgin land and I have mango trees growing and I have other vegetation including herbs edible vegetation and nobody has tilt the land ever far as my knowledge, it's a better way I in coach people to go on TH-cam and look this man up and check out his method one thing I will say doing the vegetable gardens you don't need the large wood chips you just need the shred wood chips or mulch over top of your compost.
Props for successfuly farming the heaviest clay soil on TH-cam. You know what you are doing. Adept and astute. You have ears that hear the earth and eyes that see through it.
If you get a chance, once your soil is broken up, trade that tiller for an older Troy-Bilt Horse model. That way you can put a hiller behind it and use it to mound up your rows. I've been using one for nearly forty years, and they really save labor,.

After you tell that clay dirt what then do you do to amend the soil because clay has no nutrient in it you cannot grow in clay is that not correct. I'm fascinated by your property and the abundance of food that you grow on it but more importantly I need to know how you amend the soil especially for growing your callaloo and your green vegetables cuz I find that I have difficulty growing callaloo in containers raised beds what if anything did you do to the clay to make it fertile to grow food
I work in a very clay environment up here in the pacific northwest.. this year I'll be laying out chicken manure, and steer manure... 1 50lb bag per 100sq feet. Then I take my tiller and go crazy.. it's the perfect amendment year after year. Take your time. Good luck
Trying to take to big a bite with your tiller. Raise your depth gauge a couple notches. You won’t get as deep but you will bust that soil up. Might take to passes but you will get better results. Owned a troybilt for about fifty years now. Let your tiller do the work.

That's the way I do it, but my garden is much smaller than yours. Your space is big enough for a tractor. A small tractor with tiller and plow implements should fix you up.
I'm rocking back and forth letting the tines go deeper to brake the soil. I also made sure to have the depth adjustment bar all the way up so that I could get the times down as deep as possible to break up that soil way down in there being careful not to push hard on the handle because they will break
Honestly we've never measured it to know the size exactly. We can tell you that we plant on more than half an acre every year and this tiller has held up for the past 3 years. Just make sure you service it after each season
@@humbleservantshomestead7974 Would you create a video explanation of how those factors affect the width & spacing of your rows? For example, I know that sweet potatoes need deep, wide rows. But I am not well-versed in many other crop row sizes, which could indicate why my other crops struggle???
Add some weight to the back and it'll cut by itself. Also no need to string rows put a stake at each end by eye the drag your hoe from one stake to half the bed then go to the other stake and drag yohr row with the hoe back to the center of the bed

We've had our sights on a BCS but the price keeps rising! Praying that maybe one of these companies will endorse us
I use a heavy steel rake to mound up the soil. Get those raised rows nice and high for easy root penetration.

We amend the clay with chicken Manure and goat Manure .

How big is your garden you think a tiller this size will work for half acre???

Why do you have to make berms? Can't you just plant them in the ground?
This portion of our land is at a slight slope and when it rains the water tends to wash downhill taking th rows with it.
How big of a tiller is that ? I’m trying to get one,
If you buy a set of tire chains for that tiller you won't have that problem.

We make different sizes depending on which part of the land we are planting on, what we are planting, and the soil quality. Hope that helps

I watched the machine do the work throughout this video. That’s a nice and expensive tiller. It’s not supposed to be a tractor, Alberta.
That is a big tiller, We had to borrow a friend's tiller and it was so much smaller, sooo much smaller.
