@@brendadrago3743 I went on my own. I basically saved a bunch of locations I want to go to on Google Maps, so I can recommend using that if you aren't going with a guide. I also went to the breakfast house featured in this video, and it was more than worth it. It was some of the best meals I've had during my trip. I hope your trip does well!

I was posted in Istanbul at the old US Consulate in Beyoglu, near the Istiklal street, in 2000-2001.
I have fond memories of this city. And I love Turkish cuisine.
One strange but very delicious dessert I had was “tavuk gogsu”. It wasn’t made with anything strange or exotic, but a pudding made out of chicken breast is something unexpected.
If you go to the Asian side of Istanbul, it’s a lot more chill and laid back than the tourist part. Just take a ferry boat or a dolmush (shared taxi).
Oh yeah, maybe it’s changed now, but it does help to learn a little bit of Turkish to get by. And the locals will appreciate it, too.
