That beautiful golden voice helped me start my day for almost 15yrs. I’m a young guy but his charm is really what allowed me to appreciate radio and storytelling. Truly blessed to have NYers like him among us
John Montone was the last of the generation on WINS that I grew up with. You know, back when it was real news. I can barely listen these days. Thanks for keeping it real, sir.
John, Thank you from Boston!! Yes, We listen to 1010 WINS(night time hours) as everyone else listens to WBZ 1030!! People like you John, many others and David Brudnoy, make news radio interesting!
The man’s voice was iconic with NYC, people like him as well as Susan Waldman, Bruce Anderson, and Patricia McCann were people I recognized immediately upon listening
How did I just find this out?! He was the voice I will listen to since HS and now I am a century old I will miss him soooo very much! However good for him! Enjoy retirement😊
Essentially, he would indeed have taken Parker's place - he was named a reporter in 1993, one year after Parker and several other veteran WINS mainstays, some dating back from its beginnings as an all-news station in 1965, all retired in a buyout.
A huge part of NYC. The radio will never be the same. You will be missed sir.

In terms of what shift he held and the type of stories he covered, didn't Mr. Montone succeed Paul Parker when Parker retired from WINS in 1992?
Hello Faisal ji
Wow
Hi
Why does these two radio stations interview people that talk like they are on drugs ? People interviewed cannot construct a sentence properly.
Never heard of him
Then he wasn't meant for you to hear. Your lose son...
