It's crazy how nowadays a movie that makes $165M at the box office is considered a flop.. People were/are sleep on Over the Top that was a great movie..
If you spend 10 millions for the movie and you get 10 millions in return, then it's a flop. In regards to OTT, you still don't understand what flop means, do you?
@@2dgamecity not only that but the studios only get half the box office totals. The theaters get the other half. Plus the budget usually doesn’t count marketing expenses.
Staying Alive? While Frank Stallone (Sly's brother) had a small part, Sylvester was not in Staying Alive. Over the Top is a classic and one of the best movies.
Stalone and his brother his father was escaped in Europe when started Vietnam war ! But he are made Vietnam war propaganda ! His mother also was escaped from Russia when started red revolution whell no she was not Russian she just was Russian-Jewish !
I always wondered if Kurt and Sly got along well. Would have been cool to see a sequel. They both have a ton of charisma. I enjoyed the film as well seeing it in the theater. Has Kurt done any of the Expendable movies? Seems a no brainer he should be on the Mt Rushmore with Sly, Arnold and Eastwood and Bruce
i watched all Rocky series, Rambo series, Expandable series, Over the top, escape plan Stallone's all movies are amazing am huge fan of Sylvester Stallone ❤
Oscar had a budget of 35 M.$. It made 23 M. $. A loss of 12 M. $A movie that doesn't gain a lot of profit is usually called a flop. The Term doesn't say anything about the quality of a movie.
Hits and Flops are based on ticket sales to budget, not individual opinion. If it cost $25 mil to make, then that means it needs to gross $50 mil just to break even after you consider the cut that goes to theaters and marketing.
The Godfather, Dracula, Frankenstein, Godzilla, James Bond 007, The Man With No Name series, Dirty Harry... ...just to name a few. Lol! Francis The Talking Mule, Herbie The Love Bug
He's for sure the best actor writer there's ever been some directors make a good movie but Stallone has inspired more people through his movies than anyone else including Arnie who would be a close 2nd for the movies he's been in. Just wish that Bruce Lee had lived to make so much movies he made martial arts mma what it is today if there was no Bruce Lee would martial arts ever have taken off like it did when his movies came out people were walking out of the cinema doing karate moves just like when people came out of Rocky everyone wanted to run and box tore there track suit bottoms and jumped over the nearest park bench lol I don't think the world will be the same without Sylvester Stallone.
He wasn’t in the film Staying Alive either which starred John Travolta but was the director of film. Homefront Stallone was the writer and one of the producers.
In 1971, 25-year-old and poor Sylvester Stallone had to sell his dog Butkas for $40 to buy food. Five years later, after the huge success of Rocky (1976), he bought Butkas back for $15,000: "We were both hungry and lived in a house above the subway station. When things got worse, I had to sell him in front of a supermarket because I had no money to buy food. Then, like a miracle, the script of "Rocky" was sold and I was able to get him back, but the new owner knew the new situation very well and charged me fifteen thousand dollars." Butkas starred in two more Rocky movies before closing his eyes for good in 1981.
Rocky,Rambo& Expendables are hit for Sly Stallone but for directorial debut or long run directed by sly stallone (staying alive, over the top, fist, paradise alley are not so great ❤)
Always entertaining always enjoyable to watch. 'Get Carter' should have been left alone the original was Mr Cain at his finest. Mr Stallone is a Great actor and writer, comes across as a really nice guy as well 💪👍
#10 is just called Victory. Also, would be interesting to see the aftermarket numbers on some of the earlier flops. Flops at the box office, but steady rentals over time.
Stallone certainly did NOT play Tony Manero in Staying Alive. John Travolta played Tony Manero in Staying Alive. Stallone directed the movie but was not in the movie unless you count a split second appearance as a bystander.
@calebgaddi1428 Travolta's walking down the street and runs into a dude wearing a white fur coat and walking cap and they both turn and stare. That was Sly.
Rocky 4 to this day, still has the greatest training montage video of all time!!!
I agree!!!!!!
I agree to. 💯🇬🇧🇯🇲👍
Agreed!
Facts
I listen to Rocky 4 songs at the gym
How dare they say over the top was a flop! Classic movie!
Over the top such a great movie ❤

Over the Top it was a good movie
I agree 👍
Cult classic. My brother and I watched it ten times. Was Judge dredd on the list?
I agree. Over the top is a great movie. No matter how many times I watch it…I always get shivers as he is about to win at the end.
Over the top was amazing!!
Home front!!!! He wasn't even in that movie!!! Wtf
First blood is his best film.
Definitely
Yes and Predator is Schwarzenegger's. Action Hero + Machine guns + Forest + Jeopardy = great movie.
👌
Best Film of all Time ! ! !
@@Sell-lee79 to me it's my 3rd favorite
“Lock Up” is one of my favorite Stallone movies.
Agreed - great flick. Just that jail movies rarely draw big crowds unless the word of mouth is so insanely good that you have to see it.
Lock up was a great movie
I don't remember Lock Up.. I will definitely check it out though..
Deffo it's my favourite stallone movie after rambo and rocky
Yep, one of my fav Sly films. Definitely under the radar.
Lock up was sick
Yep. Lock up and Over the top are classics nowadays. Used to be in the '90s already.
It's crazy how nowadays a movie that makes $165M at the box office is considered a flop.. People were/are sleep on Over the Top that was a great movie..
Yeah Im assuming the flop-blockbuster ratings are based on the budget of the movie.
If you spend 10 millions for the movie and you get 10 millions in return, then it's a flop.
In regards to OTT, you still don't understand what flop means, do you?
Flop because budget of the movie is 300 million
@@2dgamecity not only that but the studios only get half the box office totals. The theaters get the other half. Plus the budget usually doesn’t count marketing expenses.
@edx21x i don't think so theater get half that is huge because thy don't pay actor's i think thy took like percentage of 20%
I thought Stallone should have won awards for Cop Land, very underrated movie.
Cop land besides it's great cast the plot was spell binding
Good movie and showed a different side of Stallone
It wasn't a blockbuster but one of his best films for sure. Kept his career going after a lot of bombs.
Staying Alive? While Frank Stallone (Sly's brother) had a small part, Sylvester was not in Staying Alive. Over the Top is a classic and one of the best movies.
Sly was the director of that movie (Staying Alive).
@@capitanfuturo594True. But he was also the Director of Tough as Nails, and that's not on this list. So?
He was the director. I think.
He made a small cameo but just for a second it's in the beginning on the street where he bumps into John Travolta and he turns around
He directed the movie
Loved over the top! Judge Dredd and Demolition Man are classics
Rocky series, Rambo series, cobra , over the top all are great 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Stallone flims means on top level ❤❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥🔥💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Of course stalone is not Russian ! - he's Jewish his father too
Over the top was a big surprise world wide
Still a commercial flop
Good movie but not too many people went and seen it in the theater.. Over The Top made it's money during home releases..
Cliffhanger my all time sly fave movie ever!!!

Great movie.
Indeed.
Yes I agree top movie that
Tango & Cash is a classic!

1985 at age 39, Sylvester Stallone was on top of his game.
Over the top is a classic 👌
Over the top was a great movie. Cannot understand how it’s gone down as a flop.
Coz nobody went to see it. That's why.
Poor advertising? Poor reviews? I dunno.
I love OTT, I must have hatched 10 times.
Nobody seen it in theaters.. It blew up after the home release of the movie..
Cobra poster is so iconic 😊
"Your the disease, I'm the cure"

Cobra was a good movie
Every 90's movie he was in was A Hit
Over the top was an awesome movie and has become a cult like movie. Never a flop.
Sly is an American movie icon.
"Lockup"was a good film! Better than some of those I actually considered to be flops!
For me Over the Top is not an Flop.
GREAT MOVIE.
Flop means it didn't do well at the box office.
Neither is the Expendables 4.
Staying Alive??? You are getting confused between John Travolta and S. Stallone
I was thinking the same thing, his brother Frank Stallone was in the movie
He was director
He directed the movie
As mentioned above. Stallone directed and I think produced this film.
Rambo 4 (113 M) rambo 5 (95 M)
There is no way that 'Oscar' was a flop. It's one of his best and funniest movies. Absolute classic!!!!!
Oscar had a budget of 35 M.$. It made 23 M. $. A loss of 12 M. $A movie that doesn't gain a lot of profit is usually called a flop. The Term doesn't say anything about the quality of a movie.
