Umu, fangirling and squealing over ONF's excellent musicality is such a mood. I feel you and I'm a baby fuse as well. But they became one of my ultimate favorite Kpop group ever.
I've been debating whether to stan ONF for the past few months, and this comeback has finally convinced me! I've had it on repeat today, I've been gravitating more towards fun, feel-good songs lately so this was the perfect release for me. I have no idea what their storyline is but this music video definitely makes me want to learn more about it haha. I'm definitely looking forward to your interview with the group :)

and it makes more sense since they wouldn't have been fighting randomly in wml. but then that means we have yet to reach their happy ending if this is not that happy ending :(
edit: i saw another theory that beautiful beautiful is the alternate universe/ending for why. it makes sense when you look at the pandora's box in why and beautiful beautiful
I'd like to hold on to Etion's behind the scene where he said that Complete is the ending because Complete is a happy song where they got together and had fun in the pool.
So, On/Off -> WML -> BB -> Why -> Complete

So Sukhumvit Swimming is from the album Spin-Off, and as the name indicates, it doesn't belong to the main story line per se. So yeah! It's a different timeline.

This song was a desperately needed ray of sunshine in 2021 & was one of my favorite songs of the year (which Spotify confirmed). 😊 I put it on repeat once when I went for a walk on a sunny, late winter day & it was such a joyful experience. I'm patiently waiting for them to return from the military!

OH MY GOSH YALL ARE INTERVIEWING ONF?! My heart just JUMPED in a GREAT way wow thank you there's so little content for intl fans and I can't wait to watch this interview bc I know y'all are going to interview them RIGHT wowowowow I'm so excited
So their are a few theories spread around but my fav is from the KFUSE. They say ONFs story possibly starts in B1A4s “SoloDay” mv where B1A4 is sending out a signal and a 🛸 shows up. Ask them that OMG !! Because in their debut mv On/Off it looks as if ONF are in some futuristic place that’s holding onto relics of the past, possibly that very 🛸. Complete they are on earth, WML looks like some scenes are still in 🛸while others are hoping all over time searching for keys and Laun causing J-US to mess with the timelines and he gets arrested. But then Why is set in another timeline/Dimension - (this is where it’s super confusing) it seems like everyone is against each other, the world is dying, there are 2 Hyojins, they are all searching frantic for the keys. There is actually 6 concept short films released before Why that contains bits of the story. New World also has a lead in concept film. New World they find the Keys & open a portal they think they are going to a new better world BUT we end up in some drugged out inbetween that is SS (at this point I am making my own self tired) which lands us at BB - in the future where J-US has been thrown in jail, But everyone is working together to break J- US out. Ooooookkkaaaaay

I think there's a major theme of time travel in here, that was started with Sukhumvit Swimming, I think in that one Hyojin kind of stole the ability to travel through time, that's why J-us was kind of the enforcer there?? Something or other, but here right before the 1st verse there's that little flourish and the spinning clock hands, and before that we see J-us kind of being taken away by officers, so I take it as them travelling back in time to save J-us. Perhaps they time travel back to before the other MVs (and that explains the comets)?
They had same comeback time as suju so when i was waiting for suju to perform, then listening to onf performing this song. Damn i cant get myself out from this song and it has been in my playlist ever since. I love the harmony and the rumpumpumpum part

First of all, I so did not expect to get teary eyed while watching a reaction to a bop like this but then Umu reading the lyrics got me emotional. Yas girl, give yourself a pat on the back!
I love how even though I can’t exactly tell what’s the whole storyline in their MVs, I’m still 100% into it because their acting is so good and the videos are just visually stunning. Watching one of them makes me want to go back and rewatch the other ones too to find more connections and references and I think that’s very smart of them.
As for Sukhumvit Swimming, I think that just like the mini album’s title, the MV was a spin off to the main storyline. Btw anyone else thinks that E-Tion’s outfit in Beautiful Beautiful is a futuristic version of his little prince outfit from Sukhumvit Swimming?

As for the lore... it’s very confusing LOL BUT we got a concrete pointer from ONF this time where the Beautiful beautiful MV is about onf saving J-us, who we assume has been captured (seen in wml) for committing time-space crime
From what we see here, spin-off is the alternate universe where a lot of onf roles are altered, like jus being a criminal here vs a guard/cop in sukswim
There’s a lot of small connections too, like U and Etion sticking together a lot in this MV, which seems like a reference to how I think they tried to find each other in Why, while Wyatt and mk stick to the rider and hacker/observer role
So far, extreme TLDR but it seems like on/off is when they’re contained in a facility, and some or all members are androids
Complete is the timeline where it’s like a utopia, a song abt the good times they experienced
WML is the timeline where they start messing with space and time, and things start to glitch
why is the dystopia era when the world is coming to an end, and they start to look for a new world via the Pandora’s box (maybe the androids are a result of the glitch) as well as each other, cause they seem to be split across worlds and timelines
New world is where they DO find the box and keys and they step into a new world
Sukswim is like the “dream” era that’s not necessarily canon to the onf story? Or abt a parallel universe
And finally beautiful beautiful is that new world, and they finally all found each other
Ofc this is only based on a brief overview of the mvs and there’s SO much onf lore they give thru teasers and lyric videos and fan cafe posts........ it’s crazy LMAO

I'm so happy you have joined us. There are definitely visual references and callbacks to prior MVs. The train is one thing i noticed for sure. But U was also mimicking shots from Complete and the meteors were also in Complete...BUT I SUCK AT THEORIES OK SMART FUSE HALP ME

The key to the OCU is Hyojin's hair. Red-haired Hyojin is always the same character: I think pink-haired Hyojin (in Complete) is the happy ending to his story. Skunk-haired Hyojin is an antagonist, and I think this mullet-haired Hyojin is his counterpart in another world. Spin-off/sukswim happens BETWEEN worlds, and I think that happened bc 'original' onf time/universe traveled too much and broke the multiverse (in Why original red-haired Hyojin is searching for Jus, skunk-haired Hyojin is fighting him). I think this is a whole 'new world' and these wholesome delinquents are dealing with the fallout of those events even though the worst thing that has happend in their universe is jus getting in trouble with the law.
I listened to Beautiful Beautiful yesterday but I listened to the whole album today and I cried HELLO ONF I'M READY TO STAN YOU

Pentagon has a lot of lyrics that reference previous songs! I wouldn't consider it a storyline , but the first one that comes to mind is Sha La La's "I'm not the loser I was yesterday, today I'll shine, I'm better now" in reference of Shine's "I'm a fool that loves you, I'm gonna shine in front of your love", or! my personal favorite 'Spring Snow' which was inspired by when it started snowing while they were filming the MV for Shine, so it has a lot of references in both the lyrics and the dance.
EDIT: I love this comeback, I've put off stanning since RtK but the song is just too good! The fact that they were able to get their first win with such a triumphant vibe makes it all so much better
