A wild guess: Mum actually still doesn't like the dress, but since the daughter said yes, Mum wanted to eliminate any regrets or doubts the daughter had so she instead said that she actually like the dress. Either way, a supportive and sweet mum!

Yeah the mum is a wonderful lady. I can tell that she truly considered her daughters' feelings and wanted to put her worries to rest with the white lie at the end.
That was smart I won't lie. A lot of girls would get mom approval but my mom would like everything so I can't ask her lol
I would "white lie" too. I have been in a hundred dressing rooms with my girls, if they finally decide on a dress for prom, homecoming, etc that I don't love, I can put my taste aside and get on board. It's her day but I didn't really care for the 2nd one either. Those wrinkles will be there on her wedding day, it's obviously the material, steam will take it out but the minute she sits down, they'll be back. And all of that pinning, adding, etc means it's too basic.
I thought she'd try the poofy pink one that she gushed over when they first walked in.
She could've tried more than two dresses atleast...

The straps felt really nice on her in my opinion. Without them, personally it felt something was missing. But I was a little disappointed they didn't give her any bling accessory for her hair. Would've been a perfect match 👌 😍

Can we just point out how lucky the bride is to be getting that mother-in-law. She is supportive of bride and respectful of her mother. Such a sweet lady. Wish my MIL was like that. Mine is passive aggressive and will smile as she lies to your face.

What I love about Lancashire is that they pin the dress to fit the bride exactly where they would take it in, instead of just clamping the back. I feel like it makes all the difference in how the bride sees what the dress would actually look like when it fits her.
Yes!! And this way they can see the whole dress rather than see the front and not see the back as it's obscured by big clamps!

I love how Gok stares at his brides face as they see themselves in a dress for the first time. Hes watching for that reaction so he can immediately judge the next step to either keep that happy, or keep looking for it. Hes so conscious and aware of his brides, and has their utmost happiness at the forefront. I adore him.

Ok, but with a budget of £2500, UK would also find a great dress. The UK store usually gets brides with £1000 or "strict £1500" budgets with wishes of lots of bling and the "wow factor."
And many episodes with Gok don't even mention budget. So you wmreally wouldn't know if he went over even if he did.
I should also point out that the first dress he puts her in is over budget. So evidently, even with that healthy budget he still didn't achieve what you seem to think he "always" does.

I think the added strap is a mistake. That mole doesn't mar her beauty.
The strap will look better when it’s in the matching lace, which is lighter and not as chunky or thick looking

I love how this version lets the bride and her family tell their story. I always found David, Lori and the others talked way too much, almost to deliberately manipulate the audience. The focus should be on the bride; Gok’s only job is to make her look and feel beautiful and he gets that.
David, Lori, and the others do a FANTASTIC job of focusing on the bride. Step up if you can do better and shut up while you are trying to do better than these consultants.

Yes. All for a test. White lie. I believe she just wanted her daughter to not remember her disliking it and having that memory linger with the dress so she thought she did what was best and tried to erase that seed of doubt that she created by covering it up with a white lie.
Edit: I don't approve of the white lie but I approve of her not wanting her daughter to worry about her opinion

These women are the most considerate, of not only the bride, but of each other. I especially applaud the Mother-in-Law for being so considerate of her Mother. After umpteen years of watching thes shows, I haven't seen that.
I don't think her mole is that distracting. She didn't need the halter top style. She looked beautiful in everything.

That first dress was absolutely stunning. The dress she chose was beautiful too but I wish she had picked the first one. The neckline and the train were perfect.

I think she looks nice in a halter style dress, but the dress she chose would have been better original as a strapless dress. When she first tried it on looking in the mirror it was stunning, the straps were too much.

Well, it’s her choice obviously and that’s all that matters. But I was vastly underwhelmed by dress #2. She could have tried on the same style but a little more glitzy, and I might have liked it better. Something about her choice was off.
Number two was definitely my style. It wasn't off for me at all. Not everyone likes glitz, some is nice but too much becomes gaudy for me. I absolutely love lace. The lace on top and satin on bottom combination gave it a vintage and modern feel. The fit was elegant and sexy all at once. The ball gown was also beautiful but she felt overwhelmed in it. It's not just about how someone look in a gown it's about how they feel in it too. I feel like clothes should also fit one's personality.

Her reaction when she first looked in the mirror was so sweet. She really is stunning.
The bottom of the second should have lace. It looks incomplete at the bottom which is what throws me off. The simplicity is good, but the bottom needs to be lined like the train is.
This version of Say yes to the Dress has the BEST gowns.

I love the way in the Lancashire episodes they actually present the bride all decked up with the veil and all...brings out a much more honest reaction from the entourage....instead of the American episodes where they all hate the dress and then "say yes to the veil" smh!
Probably because Gok is a stylist and doesn't want to put out someone incomplete. The "jack it up" bit on the other versions give the entourage the opportunity to come on board with the dress the bride loves, even if they didn't care for it.
I think also in the American they give the entourage a chance to use the veil to be like oh yes I like it now so if someone doesn’t like it the bride doesn’t have to remain with those reservations and doubts.

I mean it's her dress & if she felt the butterflies then. But in my opinion the second dress is nothing special. It's like a hundred other dresses I have seen in most "SYTD" versions.
However, one thing is seeing other brides with a dress, one thing is choosing it for yourself... Every bride gets only one dress, and if the dress makes you happy has been chosen by other brides it's not a good reason not to follow your heart 😊 every brides makes her dress unique! Not to mention, jewels, hairstyle, the buquet wi add a lot of personality ✨)
And this is why you shouldn't put the veil on beforehand, leave mum the option to say "the veil makes it for me"! lol

I thought she looked beautiful in both dresses. The first was absolutely beautiful and she pulled it off where I think a small woman it would have been to much dress. Her 2nd dress really showed off her figure and once again she looked absolutely beautiful. Her mother in law to be was so thoughtful of the brides mother and I had a feeling her mom was holding back. Great episode
The halter princess dress was the one they all said " Oh, wow" that was the wow dress for sure! Of course it's the brides pick of the one she loves.

I so agree with that. The mole on her neck certainly didn't take away her beauty, it added to it I feel. Her skin is beautiful and her figure looked lovely in the fitted gown. I do think it would have been better strapless as it showed off her shoulders. The straps definitely looked like an after thought.
We don't know what's the story with the mole. It can be difficult for her to overcome the trauma if she, for example, has been bullied or recieved really mean comments in the past because of this mole. And doing that in her weddind day when you really want to look your best, that's even harder.
As someone with a couple very obvious moles, I understand the insecurity. I was the same way with my prom dress. It’s easier said than done to overcome those insecurities, no matter how irrational you know them to be. However, I can appreciate the body positivity you are trying to spread! 😁
The strap changed the dress from an ordinary tacky dress the something classy. Most strapless dresses just look cheap and tacky.

That mom did something my dad would always do to me. I can understand why parents do that, they want to be sure their kids can make the choice on their own and wouldn't care what anyone else thinks of their choice. However, it is nice to have the support in such an important decision and I admire this mom for admitting she actually loves the dress. ❤❤❤❤
