I was just about to question Mike Tyson being a forgotten character in Punch-Out.

@@GMKGoji01 He had only one Nintendo appearance and licensing issues prevented Mike Tyson's Punch-Out! being re-released. We got the Mr. Dream version after Mike Tyson's contract with Nintendo expired and that was the only version that could be re-released of that game.

@@SquallyCoin5664 That was done because not only did Tyson's contract expire, but this was around the same time when Tyson would get wrapped up in a pretty nasty sex scandal. This is also the same reason Street Fighter II had some name changes when it was localized for American audiences where in Japan, our Master Bison is named Vega, Vega is Balrog, and Balrog the Boxer goes by the full name Mike Bison in Japan.
@@georgecortes3416 Actually it wasn't because of his sex scandals it was his license that expire which you mention but also because Nintendo wanted him to seem like the unstoppable force and the fact he lost the belt to Buster Douglas made Nintendo's interest in him fall down

What I like about Disco Kid is that he's not necessarily a enemy, he's just a guy who's doing what he loves.
Disco Kid is a friendly rival character done right. He isn't a complete ass like most other fighters, but he's still able to have some snarky comments that just make you smile.

I really would love to see a lot more of the SNES only characters be rebooted in a new Punch-Out game, as the Wii version really did Aran Ryan a huge and glorious 180 turn.

Can we just say how impressive is that they were able to compress the sounds of the announcer AND make it still sound good? (In Super punchout on the snes)
I like how when the announcer announces Rick and Nick Bruiser,he sounds sort of like how an old timey boxing announcer, maybe from the 1930s or 1940s.would sound announcing their names.
@@quentincampbell612 I honestly agree. I also think that's what kinda makes em more intimidating. The announcers changed of tone to just calling them out normally kind of signifies that he got bored of how many people lost to them. If you think about it.
The only error I saw was for "Mad Clown" he had a delay between the two words, but other than that really small complaint it sounds great.
Oh yeah.... I forgot I even fought Mike Tyson.

The main ones a have a problem with here are Piston Hurricane, Disco Kid, Mike Tyson, and Dragon Chan. If any character appears in more than one game than I don’t think they should count, Mike Tyson will always be considered one of the most iconic boss fights on the NES, and Disco Kid never got a chance to come back. Even if he didn’t come back in a new game, I’m sure he would still be remembered.

I think by "forgotten" he means those characters that appeared just once (like Mike Tyson, Pizza Pasta, or half of Super Punch Out characters) or are just the least memorable (not a lot of people likes Piston Hurricane or Dragon Chan)
Also i think, if Aran Ryan wasn't included in Punch Out Wii, he would be another forgotten character for the Punch Out franchise (I mean, he was pretty generic in his debut)

Mike Tyson isn't the most forgettable i hear people talk about him more than Kid Quick and pretty much all Super Punch out boxers expect for like Bald Bull, Sandman, Super Macho Man and Aran Ryan also the fact that Punch out was named MIKE TYSON'S Punch Out and his match on the cover and everytime you start the game a image of Mike shows up but when he was replaced by Mr Dream notice how it wasn't called Mr Dreams punch out and you don't see a image of him when you start the game

@@JP-fj3dd Punch-Out Wii was supposed to have Kid Quick instead of Disco Kid, but because of the developers not wanting to make the game feel completely unoriginal, they scrapped Quick and redesigned him, naming him Disco Kid.
How do we know that? If you look at the files that correspond to Disco Kid in the game's data, you can see that the name of the files start with kid_quick and it's pure assumptions.
Truly an interesting story.

There are lots of characters prior to Wii who are forgotten. Though I would say all punch games prior to 2009, the one that has the most forgotten characters is the SNES version of Super Punch Out, but its predeccsors have forgotten characters too like the ones featured in the video.
