    Thank you for putting this together! Currently using a Ryzen 2700 and this has been very informative about the performance hits I suffer on big online races and given me a clearer idea what to upgrade.

      I recently went from a 2700x to a 5800x3D and can still get 70+ FPS on 1440 triple screen with a 5700xt GPU in iRacing with 15 cars on track and 110+ FPS if I'm just hot lapping. The CPU helps a bunch!

    Thanks for the video. Its good stuff. Glad you showed the minimums. For me personally I would order the charts by them instead of averages as I find them more important to the feel of the game. The presentation was good enough that I could reorder them mentally as I watched.
    Really appreciate the look at gpu utilization.

    • @BenchmarkOdysseys
      @BenchmarkOdysseys  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks :) Minimums are a great metric and definitely speak to smoothness of driving experience. I will comment, however, that there is greater fluctuation with the minimums from run to run with AC.

    I'm just in the process of upgrading my whole PC, currently on 8700k with a 3080 running triple 1440p screens. All the parts on order and have gone for the 13600k. So I'm expecting a nice little bump to everything. Great series of videos though, and a method that I've not seen anybody else use. Top stuff. 💯

    Always nice to see some benchmark for simracing racing.
    Video is very well made and comprehensive.
    Couple of thing that could make it 'better'... being more focus on target fps... not call a win but a tie, between CPU performing less than 10% from each other... and being more focus on 1% low and fps target... way more interesting to know if a processor is able to achieve 120fps 1% low than knowing there is a difference of 10% around 270fps... for exemple.

    • @BenchmarkOdysseys
      @BenchmarkOdysseys  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for the feedback :) I noticed more erratic behavior from AC when it comes to 1% and 0.2% lows. Heck, I wasn't even going to include those lows because they can jump so much from benchmark run to run! It's unlike iRacing or ACC. But at least the overall average FPS was more stable with AC. That's why I didn't bring it up the lows very often during the analysis.
      But you are right! And you're the second person to ask about the lows. Maybe I'll add in a pop-up comment somewhere...

    Nice job on the comparisons! The simple answer to the issue with the 7800X3D and the 13700K, is that the RTX 3080ti is slightly holding back their performance, on their respective generation's platform. Especially the with the 7800X3D needing a more current GPU to take advantage of its improved performance technology, on the AM5 platform.

      Agreed I feel in no rush to upgrade to 7000 series just yet. Although Granite Ridge is in production and this 2nd gen AM5 CPU will drop around April may convince me.

  • @RacingPCs
    @RacingPCs 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Interesting, thanks! In my testing I use CSP and Pure. I also disable a lot of the settings you left enabled simply because some of them leave so many Fps on the table, adding very little to the experience. I also test the Content Manager banchmark that functions, as you say, as top expected limit and a way slower Mazda AI Race start under rain that's heavier to run than the Nordschleife race so to have a high probability Fps range to expect. My test run for a bunch of single monitor sizes for entry level PCs, will add mid tier later.

    • @BenchmarkOdysseys
      @BenchmarkOdysseys  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cool! I had a feeling that Pure may compound the performance impact of other settings within CSP. Weather is another wild card that I haven't investigated yet. So many variables :S

    • @RacingPCs
      @RacingPCs 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BenchmarkOdysseys I will make a video on CSP + Pure + Settings soon with my own, obviously limited, point of view. then maybe compounded with yours and others they'll complete the picture.
      Too bad LFM still uses Sol. They should find a way to set a version of Pure as the baseline and not upgrade for months.

    Great video and quality presentation, keep up the good work! Actually I've just bought a 7800x3D a week ago for the sole purpose of handling LFM Nord in VR, as my previous 5900x was on the fence of getting 72fps on the Quest3, now I can do 80hz with some minor drops on the new AM5 CPU (looks like VR is very heavy on the CPU, I tested for GPU bottleneck, but had none to make sure it is worth the upgrade).
    Maybe next you could do the same for VR? Would be interesting to see how these CPUs compare just on the busy Nord race? Cheers!

    • @BenchmarkOdysseys
      @BenchmarkOdysseys  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you :) I definitely want to take on some more VR benchmarking. It seems like more users VR with the original Assetto Corsa than they do ACC. I know there are VR users with RF2 and AMS2, but those are more difficult to bench.

    • @gaborbeszteri
      @gaborbeszteri 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@BenchmarkOdysseys Exactly true... I tried ACC a number of times on my 3090, but image quality was just not good enough for my taste, due to the fact that it is using unreal engine and deferred rendering instead of AC's forward, thus no MSAA which is a must imho in VR. With supersampling or via other "tricks" I could make it work to a degree, but performance suffered, so maybe with a 4090, or a 5000 series card in the future? :) Although currently I'm more than satisfied with AC+LFM!

    Another cracking video, and I don’t even race AC or LFM.
    Also liking the sound of next week’s Radeon review, with 1440 triples on iRacing?
    Speaking of balanced systems and triple 1440p and 5800x3D any opinion on GPU upgrade from 3080 10GB for iRacing and a little MSFS2020? 4070 Ti Super or 4080 Super? Or wait for 5000 series? Or Radeon 7900XT or XTX? I won’t hold you to your opinion? Just wondering.
    Keep up the good work. Still love the early 80 synth music.

    • @BenchmarkOdysseys
      @BenchmarkOdysseys  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cheers mate! 4080 Super would probably be a big enough of an upgrade to make it 'worth it' over a vanilla 3080, but I can't recommend AMD until I try one out. Leaning towards 7800XT because that's so popular. Rumors are RTX 50 series won't even land this year :|

      @@BenchmarkOdysseys yes 4080 super is the obvious choice.

      @BenchmarkOdysseys  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

  • @8Tarkus8
    @8Tarkus8 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Good video. I would like to see comparisons between different GPUs, but obviously it can only be done if you got some available. I would also like to see the difference in FPS between the various graphics settings, there are a ton of them in custom shaders patch. Maybe not all of them, that would be an overkill, but at least some that make the most difference.
    I have Pure high res and with a Geforce 1050 ti I get some freezes while racing online on LFM. I've tried to run the game with Sol, I've tried decreasing the graphics details progressively, but it still happens. It's weird, because when I raced with the MX-5 during the first LFM alpha week the game ran flawlessly, so I don't know what's the issue, if it's pure maybe, or not. No idea what's causing it

    • @BenchmarkOdysseys
      @BenchmarkOdysseys  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks :)
      I appreciate all the work that has gone into Pure, but I noticed a significant performance impact to running it. All that eye candy has a cost.
      There are hundreds of tweaking options within the included 'default' extensions with CSP. I decided to trust the people how made those extensions and the creators of CSP to select the best default options.
      As an outsider who is ignorant to how the extensions are coded and consume resources, it's a tremendous amount of work to determine the performance impact of each one. Arbitrarily skipping some but testing others just creates blind spots. Then adding something like Pure on top of those selections... it's a can of worms.
      Even if I did some testing, I'd only know the performance impact for that CPU + GPU combo I was working with. Who knows how relevant that data is to a completely different CPU + GPU combo.

    I will be upgrading soon. Depending on funds raised, I want to go 7800x3d and either the 7900xtx or 4090. I play ACC only which I know is more cpu intensive like AC. Watching this though, it looks like I should be going Intel instead of AMD for the cpu. Is this right? Just want to make sure I'm buying the right stuff first before I pull the trigger. As it's not cheap for all this stuff. I've done quite a lot of research so far and was happy but now after watching your video. I might need to look at intel and compatible motherboards instead.

    • @BenchmarkOdysseys
      @BenchmarkOdysseys  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Simulators always have a baseline requirement of CPU compute that's more demanding than many games. However, as the resolution increases it's easy for the GPU to constrain performance. With a 7900XTX or 4090 running triple 1440p or triple 4k, you'll be pushing the CPU into a realm I have not tested! (yet) I'd lean toward AMD just because that socket will see new CPUs into 2025 and maybe even 2026.

      I'm focused on getting the latest gen Radeon because I want to see how well that architecture and drivers support Triple screens and VR. In the future it does make sense to benchmark some older cards to establish the performance gap between generations, but I haven't yet established which models.
