I'm subscribing. I listen to this song 30 times today and just recognize that it was a double entendre when he said fiend for the perks part. That shit is amazing
23:58 couldn't help but draw parallels between this bar and Kendrick's line from Euphoria, "I hate when a rapper talk about guns, then somebody die they turn into nuns". Two goats talking their real talk from their unique perspectives. Cole is insane to have packed so many doubles in this track, forever a legend in my books!
drake also said “the city gets stronger when everybody is speaking not when everybody out here beefin’ ” in Lose You. i think drake also understands the effects of rap beefs but i wonder where that all went during the most recent beef with kendrick. guess it was his ego
@@matthewolemaliterally… in a sense i think that kendrick, drake, and jermaine truly show the three sides of black culture… kendrick is those who truly get it… they pulled that trigger… they walked that life… jermaine is those who truly got both worlds… he got the struggle… saw the guns but also got privileges that most of us never got… and drake is more the side of privilege… he never truly had to walk that life but learned about it through meeting people and seeing it… drake couldnt keep up with kendrick who truly pushed his character bc kendrick knew drake didnt live the game he spread… i think thats why we noticed such changes in drake during the beef
Keep in mind at 10:30 he was also literally talking about his feature on Red Leather from the second Future and Metro album, where everyone thought he was switching sides
I love all the spiritual perspectives that are being highlighted through this rap beef. Kendrick highlighted many of the teachings of The Bhagavad Gita in 616 in LA with expressing his moral dilemma of knowing his dharma is to fight and defend his family and legacy but also recognizing the negative karmic implications he’s sowing by going to war. Something his soul is still clearly wrestling with in Watch the Party Die. LaCrae sharing his two cents about what Christ would have done/has done. And Cole showing the world what that looks like in real time. This is the most conscious rap beef in music history and I’m here for it! 🔥
Brilliant song by J Cole! Pure poetry. 🔥. Love the bar “I learned long ago, you can’t please ‘em all, and it hurts trying”. Great vocal sample and the Dead Presidents piano sample. Great work Knox Hill breaking down the song - salute dude! 🫡 Keep up the great work! 😎👍🏾
26:00 Oh man I thought you would catch this Pulled the plug (plug aka connection), Blood and clicks (gun clicks) fire in my pen (firing pin) dodging smoke (gun smoke)...THIS quadruple is insane
What culture plz explain ? What is black culture ? Is something to b proud of ? The music we create is dope from Jazz, soul hip hop etc I hope u don’t mean the streets and poverty coz I don’t support that
Him and Drake have the exact same race of parents. White mom, black dad. Everyone been saying they weren’t black enough. Most of the beef wasn’t even lyrical. It was Drake isn’t black enough to be the biggest rapper. Same for Cole.
When ever you watch reactions and you don't watch that of Knox you will feel like you still don't understand the song so well. Thanks a lot @Knox for the work you are putting in to break those songs down much love from Africa.
I feel like the general narrative from this song is all positive and like Cole knew a lot of things we didn’t really acknowledge as fans initially; can’t wait for The Fall Off
9:00 Kendrick never did that, he accused Drake of abusing his heritage for money and clout. Inventing a 'black' accent, culture vulture shit, nothing to do with melanin. That's why he doesn't want him to say the n-word anymore, but calls Adonis a black man in Meet the Grahams.
It's hilarious cause that's like the softest angle Kendrick took and people easily misconstrued it. 😂😂 Society's brain really has rotted over the years.
In Euphoria, one of the main lines is "How many more Black features 'til you finally feel that you're Black enough?" This isn't Kendrick saying that Drake isn't black enough. It's pointing out that Drake himself doesn't feel black enough, is insecure about that, and feels like he needs to steal the identities of others to cover that up. It's about the inauthenticity of Drake, especially with authenticity is a main feature of hip hop.
Kendrick never had a problem with Drake doing what he does. He has a problem with him faking who he really is for fame and money. Years ago people would’ve called it a sellout.
9:41 Also red leather was the song J cole hopped on in Metro second album released this year. I also wonder if the life long friends turning into opps is referred to future and drake . Talking about how he tries to make peace between these two friends.
Cole just a real ass dude! Says his friendships are more important than stupid rap beefs that makes enemies!. Takes a real one to stay in the middle not picking a side with 2 friends. Still has his spot, what a MC!
It's a bit of a diss to the reactors, podcasters, bloggers, etc. You all profited from the beef, but kept saying it's only hip hop. No street shit. No violence. He's also saying you guys try to analyze but don't understand shit.
You’re right that’s probably what he was saying! But on the other hand it doesn’t really matter. These reactors and podcasters that do this. Help people understand the art. Not the culture now all the other bull crap but the art. Because that’s what it is it’s art. And a lot of the artist think the reactors and podcasters. to name a few Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Tom MacDonald, Russ, Post Malone, kool-Aid. And that’s just the name a couple. I’d like you to say that about no life shaq. And Stevie Knight. You know honesty I don’t know if you were just trying to let him know that J. Cole was spitting that or whatever the case. But either way, the reactors are doing a great job and they do help and people do like it or they wouldn’t have millions of fans. And a lot of the Artist wouldn’t give a shit. Of course someone’s gonna diss them if they take sides with another artist. But I don’t think any of them took sides. I believe they react on who does the best and gives their two cents. 🎉
@@SIMPLYGROOT my commentary is about Knox, Shaq, Scru, all of them, even The Company man and What’s the Dirt. All of them. They all profited from the beef and tried to keep it going far beyond what it needed to. This is for all the media who acted like parasites in this time.

In the exhilaration of it all, the damage can get overlooked. Thank you for this, for helping me understand exactly what J Cole is saying here. I don't want to miss any of it. I think it may be something that really needs to be heard.
You pick up so many things at once I have to relisten and focus to hear stuff like cadence etc 😂 you’re a professional frfr 🙌🏻
Great breakdown/reaction
Love the CT2 album aswell 🔥
Damn Knox Hill always blows my mind with his breakdowns. It’s a whole new song once Knox breaks it down.
I never grinned so hard during a track than this holy shit. Dude basically proved in verse that he backed out because he was truly above it all and decided to be the better man. To find somebody better you gotta search primes is right
amazing breakdown as always, keep up the great work 🔥
I got Friday Night lights vibes on this track. So happy he responded in this way to everything earlier this year
Your ability to see things for what they really are has gained you a subscriber my good sir, I honestly should have subscribed a long time ago...
Thank you so much. This is such a beautiful song. Cole is about achieving that Crown that does not fade. He wants the Crown that is Eternal!
Cole flow and lyrism are 🔥🔥🔥....much love from this side 🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪
Cole has always kept it real, from the very beginning. I really appreciate the breakdowns, knox
I wouldn't have lost the battle,I would have lost the bro,my GOAT 😭😭😭
He def would've lost, that bar was tuff tho
It's a back handed line honestly
Thats the whole point. Losing the beef wouldnt have hurt him as much as losing a friend. Yall dont know nothing about that since yall acting like yall are lonely hatera @kh23234
@@kh23234it wasn’t him saying he was GOING to win, it was him saying that it wasn’t worth fighting AND losing a friend over
@@kh23234if that’s what you only got from that bar no wonder why Hiphop been declining.
09:39 aw man that was a powerful point you were making nice job finding it and props to J Cole for them bars
The best break down. On point like always! Keep up the good work !
Been waiting all day for your reaction 🫡
Just got familiar with you , your talent for breaking these lyrics down is so incredible, keep up the magnificent work, champ
The sample is from Cleo Sol- Know that you are loved 4:10
I'm subscribing. I listen to this song 30 times today and just recognize that it was a double entendre when he said fiend for the perks part. That shit is amazing
Your breakdown is so so good
23:58 couldn't help but draw parallels between this bar and Kendrick's line from Euphoria, "I hate when a rapper talk about guns, then somebody die they turn into nuns".
@@iziahdavis3561 makes complete sense actually. i agree with your take
Keep in mind at 10:30 he was also literally talking about his feature on Red Leather from the second Future and Metro album, where everyone thought he was switching sides
That song with Coke sounded off to me so I knew it was supposed to be on that album.
Superb reaction Knox... Love from South Africa!
We here 🇿🇦
Hey man this man does the best breakdowns
FACTS!!!
Your breakdown was just masterpeacefull
"There's opportunity when living with loss"
You are the best at what you do Knox, the breakdowns are your territory! Thank you so much for explaining everything🙏🏼♥️
A 5 minutes song with a 36 minutes reaction is amazing man
Brilliant song by J Cole! Pure poetry. 🔥. Love the bar “I learned long ago, you can’t please ‘em all, and it hurts trying”.
Great vocal sample and the Dead Presidents piano sample.
Great work Knox Hill breaking down the song - salute dude! 🫡
Keep up the great work! 😎👍🏾
Love the work Knox I was just as excited as u man I actually cried a lil when he talked about the no pops
Your the greatest in your field Knox... your amazing
Knox at 27:00 you explained it perfectly. This is exactly what I’ve been saying the whole year. YOU DONT HAVE TO BEEF TO BE COMPETITIVE!!
26:00 Oh man I thought you would catch this
Pulled the plug (plug aka connection), Blood and clicks (gun clicks) fire in my pen (firing pin) dodging smoke (gun smoke)...THIS quadruple is insane
Jamaican here🔥🔥🔥 Knox Kronicles keep doin what you doin
Idk how many Times I've been checking out for Knox's reaction 😩😩
I subscribed because I had no idea what the song was about.
Your break down was immense ❤
It's not because he's light skinned. No one questions J Cole's culture.
he is and been culture
So True! Neverr have we ever…
What culture plz explain ? What is black culture ? Is something to b proud of ? The music we create is dope from Jazz, soul hip hop etc I hope u don’t mean the streets and poverty coz I don’t support that
@@BharaDaFundraiser ahh put a sock in it
Him and Drake have the exact same race of parents.
Was waiting all night for this breakdown
I feel like the general narrative from this song is all positive and like Cole knew a lot of things we didn’t really acknowledge as fans initially; can’t wait for The Fall
Off
9:00 Kendrick never did that, he accused Drake of abusing his heritage for money and clout. Inventing a 'black' accent, culture vulture shit, nothing to do with melanin. That's why he doesn't want him to say the n-word anymore, but calls Adonis a black man in Meet the Grahams.
Kendrick is conflicted man he just wanted to win so bad 😊
18:37 For me the "prime" bar has one more layer: to find a dalivery as good as mine, you have to search in other rappers primes.
I was thinking the same
I love the fact that Cole still credits Drake with helping him a lot which he's done for a lot of artists including Kendrick.
Pretty relatable content in this song, hope it reaches all the right people! Music is life man!
But Knox Hill legit is the best. He’s breaking down albums like MTBMB by Em and Kendrick, Nas, Jay songs.
Others are shit yes, but Knox is a real one
they’re just doing their job what are they supposed to do ?
This would be my comment if I have nothing JUST hating on others' success 😂😂😂😂
This one of the few verses this year that made me emotional fr
J. Cole was *always* my pick. As a rapper, as a man. Just because he's peaceful, never meant that he was harmless. MY dude 🙏🏾.
Thanks for the breakdown, Knox.
Cole is also on the song Red Leather with Future and Metro😮
I said and i called it, j cole is just a breath of fresh air. Knox hill major shouts outs on your post mortem of this track
Paints a better picture of how Cole lives his life too, I love it. He prioritizes his values and not getting caught up in that stuff. or losing a bro by joining some beef he doesnt care about. Reminds me of the end of that JID song (Workin Out, I think?) where a guy is like "I love Cole but he always looks like he's about to ask to borrow your charger for 10%" haha. Guy is it
Or the third eye is referring to Cole himself. He can't see why they're beefing and Love is blind and he loves them both
Don’t care what anyone says. Hop on a song with j Cole and you need to be in your prime. It’s always been about healthy competition. Remember the last time it was taken seriously two legends died( RIP Tupac and biggie).
The sample is from Dead Presidents and also Cleo Sol.
Prime is also a rapper in his prime. Did not expect you to be helping my 5th grader with math homework: Prime Numbers test is next week.
That third eye blind bar was crazy and the U2 bar was out of this world 🔥
Dude knows his shit. He could explain any hip hop song . Good review. Dope song
