My eyes were scanning the backgrounds nonstop in this movie. Big props to the cinematography where door frames, windows, and hallways were always looming in the background.
@@tylerb.1008 I only seen the devil figure once myself, but I have heard many people say that he is in the movie in many more scenes. @@BonJoviBeatlesLedZep That is when I seen it too, but it was pretty obvious though... Apparently "he" is hidden in the background of many scenes in this movie. "The man downstairs" is the best at hide and seek.
Maika played an individual who's experienced severe trauma perfectly...stoic.. won't look you in the eye.. scanning her surroundings constantly.. always hyper vigilant..well done!
@@KayButtonJay I taught the same, the way how she hyper focused on stuff the whole night forgetting time. The way she doesn't know how to be social yet insanely good at catching details etc.
Exactly WHAT severe trauma had she experienced? Did you sleep through the part where Cage’s character (with Witt going along with it) puts Lee into trances so she’ll forget he exists, lives in the basement? There was no explanation for her lethargy, or why her “intuitive” abilities were somehow overlooked when she was chosen. She goes from a silent little girl to someone who earned a college degree and joined the FBI…you don’t go through “severe trauma” and do that, the FBI isn’t hiring basket cases to my knowledge. And you’re confusing stoicism with sleepwalking. I’ve enjoyed Monroe’s career since The Guest but her character here is lifeless for the most part.
@@GizmoBeach why u so mad because you have a different take on her character. Like why you so invested in it if you don't think her character is that good lmao. The way she was brought up also makes her the way she is. And suppressed trauma is still trauma, but don't be mad if you are the one missing the point. And sleepwalking really? You clearly never met anyone who deals with depression or trauma and it shows.
That door frame shot was awesome. At one point someone dropped something in the theatre and everyone just gasped and then laughed. The fear was palpable.
The color and lighting was so stark and gorgeous. I felt my skin crawl with the shots in Harker's house. There was something in the lighting and the coloring that just made her house seem both cavernous and claustrophobic at the same time. This movie was incredible.
Maybe if they relied on more than colors and lighting the movie would be better lol seriously some film snobs all it takes for them is some color and lighting and they’re sold just like that lol when the movie itself wasn’t very good
@@cjames1770 Who peed in your cheerios? Someone else liked it and you didn't, big deal. If you insist that your POV is the right one, then you are one who is being the snob. Have you ever just considered not being a dick?
Colors and lightning are a huge part of a film's atmosphere. They are important. Of course if the movie is otherwise without substance, visual gorgeous-ness is not enough. But if the plot, acting and overall quality are good, lightning and visual style enhance the experience.
Feel like I was in the minority on this one. The film is beautifully shot and the opening hour is extremely tense. I started off loving it but felt like the story completely fell apart by the end.
I really hated it and then it occured to me that it was a psychological thriller, and that Lee Harker is actually dead. She was killed by Longleg when she 8, when she went out of her house. Everything that happens afterwards takes place in her imagination. When I understood that, I was able to follow what was going on.
The fact of the matter is the writers were confused about what the genre of the film should be. One minute it’s a crime thriller and then the next it’s a supernatural psychological type deal. You gotta pick your poison or things get confusing quickly. My personal take is they should have canned the supernatural “the dolls make them do it” tripe because it just didn’t work and made things feel silly. The writers in my opinion should have just went down the “Seven” based route where Longlegs is mentally perturbed and uses means of indoctrination / manipulation in order to get people to do his bidding. You get to a similar conclusion but that story would be a lot more believable.
People will talk about Nic Cage, but let's be fully clear... this is the Maika Monroe show! I was completely captivated from start to finish. It's one of the creepiest movies I've seen in years.
Eh, her character was boring and her acting range didn’t really extend from just being 😐 for the whole movie. Even hen she cried she just seemed completely bored for acting in the movie. Similar to myself in the theater.
@@123rockfanTo be fair, I love how divisive this movie is because with horror movies it’s almost always a good thing. Everyone is already debating this movie. The Witch, It Follows, The Babadook, Hereditary, and The Lighthouse are among the greatest horror movies of the 2010s and they were all divisive.
This movie was 10/10 fkn weird as hell. Silent theater. Couldn’t hear a breath. It was fkn incredible and super original. Nick Cage performance deserves a damn award!
@@mgkaotic This movie is hella weird. But in a good way. A chilling and suspenseful way. If you like slower paced builds you’ll love it. If not, it may not be your cup of tea. It feels very real. Like an in depth serial killer hunt that turned into a true crime documentary.
@@mgkaotic it’s definitely weird in the Mandy way. Nicholas Cage is hilarious and over the top. Like an SNL skit. Its not scary IMO. Apparently I’m in the minority though
We saw this movie yesterday and thought it was horrible. I have no idea what the film reviewers are talking about. Most of it doesn't make sense and wasn't even scary.
This type of horror isn't for everyone. If you're a fan of slow, creepy, under the skin psychological horror, this is for you. I guess that's not your type
@@bengreenwood1734 It has nothing to do with the pacing nor the type of movie that it is, it’s everything to do with the storyline. The best way to explain this film is it’s Seven meets Annabelle which is silly and doesn’t work. It was like a poorly executed version of Sinister.
@@bengreenwood1734 After seeing this movie, I have to say, acting like people who don't like it just don't get "slow, creepy, under the skin psychological horror" is kinda backhanded and ridiculous. It's a bad script dressed up with artsy cinematography.
I loved the cinematography of this movie. It added so much to the suspense and foreboding atmosphere of the film. I too was scanning the background constantly expecting to see something. Sometimes you would and sometimes you wouldn’t and you’d never expect it. That kept me on edge the entire time. And when Perkins decided to do a bit of a jump scare they weren’t cheap or overused. They were perfectly timed in a place you least expected it. All of them got me!
Here’s my advice, guys: go in with no expectations and let the movie unfold. Take it in, enjoy it. Let Perkins and Cage hypnotize you. It’s so soothing.
i very much second this. i came in with extremely high expectations due to the prior feedback and reviews i had seen and came out a little underwhelmed. still an amazing movie that should stand as a pinnacle in horror history
Literally just left the theater. Wow. So full of dread. Such good performances. I’m glad I live in the internet age where I can watch video essays and analysis about the movie because there a lot to unpack. 10/10.
I just left the theater as well. In my honest opinion, I'd rate it a 7.5-8/10. The build up is so damn good and terrifying, then that last last little bit where she goes back home, felt like such a waste. Don't know if it's a build up to something else, but the payoff fell really flat.

Feeling threatened while walking through the horror section of a video store was such an amazing experience. Incredible box art! I’ll never forgot the fear.
RIP Jonathan Demme. I’m sure he is up there in movie director heaven bragging to all his colleagues that every well received serial killer movie will be judged against The Silence of the Lambs until the end of time.
@@notmyrealpseudonym6702 Good call. Se7evn is a phenomenal serial killer movie. and the screenplay is just perfect. It definitely deserves to be on the top ten list. But Silence of the Lambs introduced the world to Hannibal Lector, one of the greatest villains of all time. John Doe was devious and scary but I didn't think he was going to eat my face off. There have been several kick ass portrayals of Hannibal over the years, but nobody elevated that role better than Anthony Hopkins. His performance left a permanent stain on our national pysche, so wide and so dark that this fictional man, along with this fictional name have become synonymous with real life depravity. "It was a scene so horrifying that even Hannibal Lector would blush." Everyone knows what that means. If Silence of the Lambs sets the bar for serial killer films, which movie sets the bar for ghosts and the like? Poltergeist? That clown scared the shit out of me.
I loved it... until I watched the film. Now, I'll go as far as calling it false advertising. The most iconic element of the trailer, the weird-ass noise that the bad guy is supposed to make, is nowhere to be found in the film.
The trailer for this movie was a work of art. The suspense/build up was intense. And that music was EERIE AS HELL. This is one of those movies that I cannot wait to add to my collection.
@@Do0msday I loved the movie, just watched it earlier today. I wouldn't say it's perfect but it did a great job at being eerie and providing a great score and cinematography.
Holy shit! I immediately thought of Cure as well! The dream-like feel, the oppressive sense of atmosphere and the disorientation and paranoia it can cause...there are also wide angle shots where the characters feel far away or just out of reach and you're looking all over the screen anticipating something to appear and sometimes it does, and other times it doesn't, but you're always questioning what you might've just seen. Keeps you on your toes and feels so intense. Definitely my kind of horror!
I went to a VHS rental store like Panos Cosmatos and a lot of other people did, I guess, when I was younger and the VHS-covers of the horror-section fascinated me endlessly. I imagined how the plot could be and was in awe, how these kind of realistic, creepy and disgusting effects are even possible. Later I saw most of these films, but those visits really spurred my imagination. 😊
Same here! As a kid in the 80s, I was way too scared to watch anything from the horror section but I was deeply fascinated by all the covers (and the cardboard stands!).
@@heavenlycute When I was a kid in like 2005 I accidentally walked through the 18+ dvd section in a store and I remember being terrifyied yet mesmerized by some covers of the horror movies. I just came back from the theater with my wife. The movie is really good - especially Cage, camera work and sound design. I am not really happy about the ending but that’s my only pet peeve. @@anthonygray6570 Then why did you watch the movie? It wasn't a secret it was supernatural? There was satanic and demonic references and imagery in literally all the promotional material
Am I the only one that thought it was complete shit ? Watch horror a lot so maybe I'm desensitised. But as soon as I seen it was a 15 rating I thought, can't be much of a horror if a 15 year old can see it. And boy was I right, absolutely fuck all happens in this movie, and I have seen scarier tales from the crypt. But hey, that's just my opinion. Just wish it did not get all this hype.
I never watch scary movies but the marketing sparked my curiosity and after watching it today I can say it was so worth it. 9/10 May go see it again and take some friends 👏🏽
@kanem5moone curious as a (reasonably) local guy from Castledermot, was that Omniplex or IMC? Either way, that's very cool and props to the marketing department - I was very hyped up for this movie and I may be going to see it Wednesday night.
HUGE CONGRATS TO YOU CHRIS ON THE PREMIER!!! That such SUCH a huge accomplishment and I couldn't be more proud as someone who's been watching since the beginning. Wish I could attend :(
If you've never experienced a psychotic episode from a friend/family member where you don't recognize them...be grateful. But I re experienced this with Cages performance in the vehicle, after he leaves the store. Chilling
I think some people will be taken out of the film by Cage's performance, but I do agree with you that it is accurate... He may seem over the top, but I think it is a good portrayal of someone who has completely lost their mind and cannot relate to other humans any longer. The scene in the store with the girl hits hard because it is something I walk by everyday on the way to work. Just a completely lost and insane soul. I was not creeped out by him in that scene... I actually pitied him... It was a very strange feeling it gave me.
Chris I've been watching you for years and I grew up in the 70's-80's-90's and worked with Blockbuster till the end and you are so on par with my taste, I look forward to every video. I cant wait for Shelby Oaks!
How to combat hype: If it looks good, give it a shot. If anyone says, "Beware of hype", consider the source. They may not have the same taste as you. And, with any entertainment at any point in your life, nothing is automatic.
Absolutely true. After hyping myself up to see this film for a month, expecting it to be life-changing, it actually being “great” felt disappointing by comparison.
You make a very good point about "hype." If the marketing was not as good as it was, and if the critic reviews were not as overblown as they were, would people have liked the movie more? I think so... I myself became entranced by the trailers and critic reviews, and then seen the movie and left with very conflicting views on it. I think it is well crafted, well shot, and a very good slow burn for about 70 minutes, but the last 25 minutes of the "payoff" to the slow burn is not really worth it. It might benefit from multiple viewings, but not many will have the patience to see it again... I loved the way the movie was shot though, and will see it again simply because of that and to see if there is anything I missed.
thank you so much for saying this! This is EXACTLY how I feel!!! It had a very underwhelming “pay off” as well and if it hadn’t been so over hyped you’re right I might have actually liked it more
It’s gotta jus be the suspense a1 but felt let down from such a weak climax at the end like come on we saw that coming from a mile away and it wasn’t even that scary
His character was comical to the point it was taking me out of the atmosphere. My expectations for this film were extremely high, went into it pretty much blind. I just watched Longlegs tonight and I absolutely loved the film. The theatre here was also packed and everyone had out loud reactions to certain parts of the film. On my way to my car afterwards there were groups of people standing in the parking lot talking about it and it made me feel excited. Excited that maybe cinema is coming back... maybe people are getting excited about watching films in theatres again. It was truely a perfect cinema-going experience and I felt nostalgia to when I was younger in the 90's and early 00's when everyone went to the theatre nearly every weekend. Also I wish I could travel from my home in Nova Scotia to Montreal to attend Fantasia next weekend but I cant :(
Sorry to break it to ya. No it wont be back. I’m a amc a lister and this nowadays is rare but it’s been a good movie summer ( towards the end ) bikeriders was one of my favorites
Longtime fan who's not watched in a good while. Crazy to see how big your channel has become. Just finished Longlegs and came to hear a second opinion!
It wasn't ''A Scariest film of the Decade'', But it was definitely an interesting watch, I would definitely recommend it to people who are more into crime/thriller genre, because this is definitely not a horror film. It has horror elements but it wasn't a full blown horror movie from start to finish. There was some unsettling and creepy parts but I never felt truly scared. Nic Cage and Maika Monroe were both great, the actress who plays Lee's mother in the film was fantastic, she was absolutely creepy. But it definitely a type of movie that you need to see twice, it demands that. So I am definitely going to be seeing again but this time alone at home. I just came out of the screening couple of minutes ago, so the movie is very fresh in my mind but I just... I don't know, I need to sit with this movie for a bit and think how I feel about it, because there were stuff I really, really liked and then there were some other stuff that I would put under a question mark. That's why I think it necessary to see it twice. I can say that I think this film should have been either longer or a mini-series, a 1 hour 40 minute runtime is not enough to tell such a story I feel like, there is quite a lot that is left to viewer's imagination, a very ambiguous ending. I don't hate the ending but I do wish we got a conclusion, it felt like we will be getting Longlegs 2 or something... but either way, I can't decide fully on how I feel about this film, I will say I did like it more than I did not like it, but I don't want to go in the details because I am not 100% sure if even the things I did not like I truly don't like you know? But it definitely was an experience that I overall enjoyed but at the same let down by few things, I did feel like it needed to be longer at the very least and the jumpscares were weak... absolutely weak to me. But I will still recommend for anybody to go check it out for yourself, especially like I said before if you are fan of these type of movies (Silence of the Lambs, Seven or Zodiac) then this could be a good time for you. I will say this, this film is definitely also not on par with Silence of the Lambs or Seven in terms of filmmaking, storytelling and etc etc... It definitely pays homage to those films but at the same time brings an interesting unique twist to the movie which I did really like. So yeah, go check it out. I feel like this movie is going to be very divisive, some people will love it some people will like it and some will straight out hate it, it definitely a more of A24 type movie. Also, Nic Cage's performance was definitely something... I did not know how to approach his character... but eventually he did get under my skin but I can see some people straight out laugh at this character because of how ridiculous he is in this. Even I smiled couple of times because Nic Cage was having a lot of fun in this one, oh my oh my... He was chewing every scene, the interrogation scene definitely is going to be a memorable scene from the movie. Gosh, I went on a huge rant.. I need to chill, but at the moment it very hard for me to rate this, I need to wait a bit until I can truly comprehend what I just saw. Oh, I forgot... the sound design and cinematography is chef's kiss.
I agree. I wanted to be so scared and I was but probably anticipating stuff that didnt happen. It was very vey creepy and the sound made me jump more than the imagery. I found the satanic plot to use others to do stuff with a doll a little overly complex but maybe that's just me. Dolls are so overused in horror or whatever this was and it detracted for me. Cage was enough
I saw this movie last night and LOVED it, definitely lived up to the hype for me personally. One of the most enjoyable hour and 45 minutes in a theater I’ve ever had
It just didn’t do it for me and I was so excited to see it… it was a let down for me…. I loved Seven… Silence of the Lambs… but … hmmmm this film… I’m felt let down by the climax til the end…. I liked the main actress but… the movie as a whole… oh the mother character was good too… but it wasn’t enough for me to genuinely like the movie…
Our little cinema in New Zealand was sold out for this last night - the movie has a very limited release and its the busiest its been since Barbenheimer. Fantastic that this movie is winning audiences over so much.
Here’s the thing though, it’s not lol lotta people are going based purely on the marketing but the audience score to this point is only 65 percent which isn’t high . I saw it today and I personally wasn’t in any way impressed by it, nobody in the theater seemed to be impressed by it and I wouldn’t be surprised if it has a big dip in their second week. The success they’re having now is based on marketing, this is not a movie that’s going to appeal to a general audience

First, congratulations on the release of "Shelby Oaks". And Nic Cage? Outstanding. And it's so good to see him making a comeback to the mainstream. This movie sounds similar to the 2020 version of "Invisible Man". I never knew that someone staring at an empty chair could be so unsettling.

I really loved the way they pulled off an extremely suspenseful and stressful atmosphere. The cinematography, lighting, sound design, set design, and cage’s acting were fantastic. Thank you so much for the spoiler-free review! I usually keep myself as much in the dark as possible before seeing a new movie (especially by a filmmaker I like; Osgood Perkins has been on my radar since The Blackcoat's Daughter), but Longlegs has me so hyped that I decided to watch your review. I found it most interesting that you say it has parallels to Cure, as that's one of my favorite horror films ever and it has such a uniquely surreal & suffocating atmosphere and aesthetic. Judging from the trailers, I was expecting comparisons to films like Seven and Silence Of The Lambs, but Cure came so out of left field that, coupled with your enthusiasm for this film, has my interest in it even more piqued. I usually go to matinees to save money, but this is one I definitely want to see at night.

It was good but honestly it felt like it didn’t execute a finale as good as it could’ve been. Everything was 10/10 until it ends and then it feels as if it was end too soon; like there was much more horror that could’ve been achieved so a little bit disappointing in that sense. A good example I can give is the hereditary movie. The film develops and unfolds and it escalates more and more and the it reaches its absolute peak and it leaves you feeling a satisfying sense of overwhelm shocked and fear. This movie long legs was on the right track similar to that recipe of hereditary but it ended before it could’ve been at it’s peak. It’s a film that unfortunately doesn’t reach that peak. Aside from that critic it was very well filmed and beautiful and I really loved it, loved it so much that I’m disappointed it didn’t reach further

There is an intruder in my house. Prob a serial killer. But first, let me decipher this message he left me on my desk... overhyped movie. Decent horror. Nothing special
This film was absolutely terrible. This film left me asking "why" more then anything. SPOILERS Why does Lee not call backup when her partner gets shot? Why doesn't Lee call back up when her home gets broken into? Why doesn't she call backup when yet another colleague gets shot? Why doesn't Lee get backup when going into a interview with longlegs, or backup outside? Why why why!!!!! We learn that Longlegs has been using cyphers at the killings, what do these cyphers resolve? Nothing.... What do these cyphers mean? Nothing... Lee decodes these cyphers in record time whereas the FBI has come up with nothing over 20 years. It turns out LongLegs has been living in the mother's basement, why? Don't know. For how long? Don't know. How do they know where longlegs is to arrest him? Don't know. Why does Longlegs have to use dolls? Don't know. Out of all the family he kills, why does he suddenly agree to save Lee by making a deal with her mum? Don't know. Why does Longlegs kill himself? Don't know. Why does he wear all white? Don't know. Why is he even called longlegs? Don't know. Why does this film even exist??? Don't know. The list just goes on and on, and I haven't even gone into Lees psychic powers that later on in the film is reduced to just knowing things.... I'm not sure why so many people think that this film was great, but hay that's just my personal opinion. 🤷♂️
Question 1: Because she's in a state of shock which is clearly indicated by her hyperventilation. She still catches the culprit tho, so why did that even bother you. Question 2: Because she's invested in the case and clearly doesn't want to lose it. Which is likely what would happen if her superior knew that the killer is starting to target her. Also clearly indicated by how she acts after getting questioned by said superior. Question 3: She doesn't really have time to call for back up in that situation either (besides, she knows her mother just shot the person and obviously would rather resolve the conflict peacefully). After confronting her about it, she loses consciousness immediately afterwards. Longlegs lives in the basement because it's the perfect hiding spot + it's literally the house of his accomplice. Where else would he live? Doesn't look like he's earning any money to pay rent lmao. And he lives there since protagonist's 9th birthday. How did the police know where Longlegs was to arrest him? He's quite the noticeable fella, hard to miss that dude. Also the convenience store before establishes that he's known as the local "weirdo". He agrees to spare Lee because he needs an accomplice to get his dolls into the houses of his victims. And obviously no one would trust a freak like him, let alone letting him get close enough to any children. Why does he kill himself? Idk, why does Hannibal Lecter kill and eat people? Do you really need to know that detail, imho it doesn't matter. Why does he call himself Longlegs? The question is answered immediately within the first 10 minutes of the movie's opening btw. Pretty much anything you brought up so far is actually answered in the film or heavily hinted on, so maybe that helps.

I honestly didn't feel the horror in this movie scary at all. The door scene is probably the one that everyone is referring to, and yes, I'll give you that - the scene was intense. The cinematography was really great too. But scary...horrific...creepy? no way. Cage as well, don't get me started. He was so funny I couldn't take him seriously as the character he was supposed to be playing. I still loved his acting, but it just made me laugh more than anything :D
@@kato093 I actually love hot fuzz. Never really seen Scary movie 4 and while I did like the first avengers movie when it came out, I do feel like they absolutely squeezed it dry and now the formula is so obvious it's not that enjoyable anymore :( I did love Loki though. Oh, and I can't wait for Daredevil season 2. You know what I did find messed up recently - Barbarian. The one about the airbnb...that was MAD.
Overall I liked it. I wanted to love it but was really disappointed with the ending. It just didn’t really wrap anything up. It almost felt like this movie is a part 1. Loved everything else about the movie
I approached this one exactly how I approached Barbarian: I avoided seeing any trailers or video marketing. The posters alone drew me to this one, and I like Nic Cage and Maika Monroe, and putting them together intrigued me to no end. I loved this movie.
I'm sorry, but I don't get the hype or even positive reviews for this movie. I just got back from literally walking out of it. I can't remember the last time I walked out on a movie in theaters.
It’s weird to me people thought it was scary. I was bored out of my mind, trying to stay awake. The vibes and lead actress were great, but the twist was so easily guessed and the satanic angle/androgynous or trans villain is so played out.
It seems like I'm the only person who didn't like The Blackcoat's Daughter (Perkin's directorial debut), and I'm an A24 bitch too! It had great atmosphere, but the big twist (spoiler: that Emma Robert's and Kiernan Shipka's characters are the same person) is so silly because it hinges on us being surprised by the reveal that it's the same character, which, duh, of course we're surprised, the two actors don't really look alike! That twist only works if it's the same actor playing both roles in make-up. Does this not bug anyone else!? But I am looking forward to Longlegs.
For the masses, because it's not a creature feature, or jump scare filled, people are gonna hate this movie. But when you talk about SUSPENSE, this is suspense. All the performances were great. I felt myself holding my breath waiting for things that just didn't end up happening. This is a film out of the norm of what just makes money and I had a blast.
Damn everyone saying how great the movie is and all I can think after watching it is that it's a mix of piss, shit and ass lol goes to show how differently people see things

Honestly I thought she was on the spectrum. To me that makes more sense

The color and lighting was so stark and gorgeous. I felt my skin crawl with the shots in Harker's house. There was something in the lighting and the coloring that just made her house seem both cavernous and claustrophobic at the same time.

@@theflight5247 that’s not it but I wish I could perform mental gymnastics like that so that this pile of shit called Longlegs makes sense
@@theflight5247I'm sorry, what do you mean she's dead?
@@theflight5247 that makes it even worse. the whole 'it was happening all in her head' thing is just so boring and uncreative

Way over hyped. All these youtubers .......smh.
It has horror elements but it wasn't a full blown horror movie from start to finish. There was some unsettling and creepy parts but I never felt truly scared. Nic Cage and Maika Monroe were both great, the actress who plays Lee's mother in the film was fantastic, she was absolutely creepy.
Wow, I just realized the movie is kinda short
@@TommyDay-kq1jjik it felt super long for me but in a good way, extremely well paced
This movie disturbed me. I loved it. I got hereditary vibes. “Nuts” is the best way to describe this.
Same here! What theater did you go to? Mine had Maybe, one? Free seat, but it seems that that person just didn't show up
Alice's?
@@cjames1770Maybe because they came with high expectations and have watched the trailer, I haven't watched the trailer and I won't watch the film with high expectations either.

Las Vegas AMC was packed! Even a guy with a broken leg on crutches 🩼was in attendance. That’s how hyped up this movie is.
Sounds like he showed up with the Wronglegs

First, congratulations on the release of "Shelby Oaks". And Nic Cage? Outstanding. And it's so good to see him making a comeback to the mainstream. This movie sounds similar to the 2020 version of "Invisible Man". I never knew that someone staring at an empty chair could be so unsettling.
Hey Chris, HUGE congrats on getting your movie submitted to a festival! We can’t wait to see it!
um no we can wait
I gave it a C+. It had the potential to go so much deeper. I thought it was going to be more intense. The storyline was there.... 🤷♀️
@@tylerb.1008 It's borderline campy how over the top he is. Between that and the devil eyes fading out this movie was just a huge miss for me
It really wasn't good. I mean beautiful cinematography but the plot sucked. It was boring. The main character was less than 1 dimensional
@@smac1684 I've been telling people, "I've never hated a movie so beautifully directed." For me, everything on screen, and the performances were amazing. But as the story unfolded more and more, I was thinking, "Please god, don't go this route..."

I LOVED how there was a touch of HBO and Stephen King’s The Outsider with a certain character. Nick Cage was absolutely brilliant, and I’m actually afraid of him now😂😂 The sound design, INSANE!! ❤❤ Easily the BEST horror film of the year, hands down. 🎉🎉

This movie better get nominated for best cinematography, incredibly shot!
Literally my FAVORITE thing about LongLegs. Man that cinematography was superb 🤌🏽
Agreed
6/10.....Movie was just ok not sure why they hype around it. The ultra wide screen with shallow depth of film was an odd choice for the cinematography
Huge congrats that you were at Fantasia Fest. I can’t wait to see Shelby Oaks when it gets that Neon distribution!
NO ADS THANK YOUUUUUUU
LongLegs is sick AF. I loved every moment of it. Totally purchase-worthy, without question.
I really loved the way they pulled off an extremely suspenseful and stressful atmosphere. The cinematography, lighting, sound design, set design, and cage’s acting were fantastic. My only two critiques of the movie are one: i wished they leaned a little farther away from all of the supernatural stuff, and just made it a legit crazy guy who’s really persuasive or knows hypnosis two: i wish they made the ending tie things together a bit more, and maybe given it a little bit more time to finish
Just got suprised yesterday by going into a sneak peak viewing, where you don´t know which movie your´re getting. It was awesome! I had anticipation for that movie, from what i´ve heard about and realizing it´s that movie was such a joy! Amazing Movie. My wife though, had problems getting to sleep
Chris!! So excited that you're bringing Shelby Oaks to London next month! You NEED to do a fan meet up! Been watching you since 2012 and it would be an honor to meet you the same day I see Shelby Oaks!
I stopped the review as soon as you said "blew me the fuck away". I can't wait to see this tonight!!!

It is what it is, I'm not here to start no internet arguing. But I do believe that the atmosphere of the movie, specifically at the theater, was amazing. Haven't had that feeling in a long while.
I absolutely love the choice to use stationary camera placements throughout and very few moving shots, aside from being perfectly symmetrical.

This movie is a massive disappointment guys. It cheats so hard and too much. No spoilers, make up your own mind about it. But this thing is not what you'd expect, which isn't really the problem. Well made but poorly told. Doesn't make any sense and has a huge cop out of a reveal. I wish I hadn't seen of the trailers, they made it look far more interesting than it turned out to be
It breaks my heart how much I agree with you. So many fucking cool ideas that don’t culminate to anything and are cheated away or just straight up forgotten

Absolutely loved this movie
Hereditary stuck the landing. This film crapped the bed.
The end was pretty good but how could that chick not notice the girls birthday was on the 14th when she was invited to the party for shit sake
There should be an Oscar category for marketing and give it to the team on this film.
I’m absolutely grateful that this film came about. Such a wonderful experience.
I just watched it last night. Went into it blind having heard nothing about it nor watched a single trailer. It was fantastic. They delivered in every category!!
There is an intruder in my house. Prob a serial killer. But first, let me decipher this message he left me on my desk... overhyped movie. Decent horror. Nothing special
This film was absolutely terrible. This film left me asking "why" more then anything.

Why does Lee not call backup when her partner gets shot?

Totally agree. This movie was boring. I couldn't get in to it. Dark all the way through. Not worth going to see in my opinion
This movie was boring and overhyped 💩💩💩👎👎
I'm with you, the only reason I didn't walk out is because my friend wanted me to see it and he paid for my ticket.
It’s weird to me people thought it was scary. I was bored out of my mind, trying to stay awake. The vibes and lead actress were great, but the twist was so easily guessed and the satanic angle/androgynous or trans villain is so played out.
yea i agree this one was just ok in my opinion, i never really felt any genuine fear in the movie, lots of overly drawn out scenes
The "twist" in this one didn't work for me either...and the more I've thought about the ending the more it falls apart lol.
I don’t think that twist is really supposed to shock you. It’s more about conveying the two different times of that persons life
I have been so excited for this movie and I am so happy to say that it was everything I had hoped it would be and more
For the masses, because it's not a creature feature, or jump scare filled, people are gonna hate this movie. But when you talk about SUSPENSE, this is suspense. All the performances were great. I felt myself holding my breath waiting for things that just didn't end up happening. This is a film out of the norm of what just makes money and I had a blast.
This was litteraly the most boring movie I've seen all year, I don't understand this review at all
