Nothing to do with food. I am a real estate investor and my wife and I own a short term hospitality business across multiple states. And I am addicted to TH-cam videos. 😝
I've been doing this for years, but also with thighs. I think it was about 12-15 yrs ago the the price of wings went above all other poultry cuts, so for me it was easy to say, "No more!" I think it was just a finger food that most people ate and who didn't cook much. Thanks for your time and energy on this video. I also hope you feel much better. Happy Thanksgiving to you and Tina. Be healthy, stay safe and many blessings, Morgan
@@tim71ford Hi Tim, if I am making a lot of thighs for a big get-together I do not open them up...just lazy I reckon. But when doing them for up to 6 people (or about 20 thighs) I go the extra mile and open them up like Jeff did on the drums. Either way I add sauce, and always with a bit of apple cider vinegar put into the BBQ sauce for that delicious extra tang. Be healthy, stay safe and many blessings, Morgan
This is pretty cool I didn't have honey but I had these really big drumsticks so I replaced the honey with sugar and slowly blended it on a low fire, thanks for sharing.
Thanks David. I have been under the weather this past week, but on the upswing now. Tami was in our Jalapeno potato video 2 weeks ago and we hope to make jerk whole fish today. Take care Brother!
Chicken looked great Jeff, I'm going to have to try legs this way. Looking at the prices here in Texas today, wings $4.49/lb and legs $2.49/lb. It's crazy.
Savvy idea Jeff, chicken wings are definitely expensive and not so much other parts! The sauce looks delicious and more heat for sure! Hope y’all have a fantastic thanksgiving! Gobble gobble
Another hit recipe Jeff! Thanks! I'm old enough to remember when meat cutters would either throw wings away or give them away to someone that wanted to make chicken stock. PS - Of the various different types of grills/smokers that you now have, which one would you choose if you could have only one of them?
@@Armadillopepper In southern states they have been deep fried forever I think, but us northern states didn't really use them much until 1964 when the Anchor Bar in Buffalo NY brought us the Buffalo Wings recipe.
I'am going to do that way! Cause i like the flavor in the bones too Any time you open them up, or poke them down to the bone with slices, will make them cook even and flavor down into the bone. If I want to protect something I lube it up with an oil. I feel like using oil as a binder just creates a layer of protection between the seasoning/rub and the meat. Maybe it would make more sense to put the seasoning/rub on and than spray it with oil? Just my prerogative maybe I'm wrong.
These are awesome Jeff....and to add to your advantages....more meat to eat than wings!!! Your sounding a little sickly. Get better Bud!! Y'all have a Happy Thanksgiving over there!!!
Most of the time i take the thighs and legs and debone them into hot wings> Yes i fry the bones to, there meat on them and i like to suck the flavor out of the bones, yummy. I can't tell any difference 🍗 From Hot wings 🍗🍗🍖🍖 Yummy bro 👍👍
wings, might as well be sold with chicken feet, tongues, combs, necks, gizzards, heart, liver - considered offal as waste product - now over priced. spatchcocking a chicken, breast, inner wings, thighs and legs ... ultimate process for having real chicken eating.
Interesting, I didn't know this market price thing was in other places. I have been reading that wholesale cost has come done a bit now. Wonder if the restaurants will change pricing?

I was a KFC franchisee for 30 years. Today, thanks to you, my poultry knowledge was expanded!
Thanks Scott! Gotta tell you, I luv me some KFC!
I’m sure you gathered a lot of knowledge during that 30 years in the business, what do you do now?

Thank you! I really like how you explain.
I also like that the chicken has a good amount of surface area.
Thanks for the good feedback.
Ooooo great idea!!! Looks great. I want a lemon peppa ones now.
That will work to YUM
Yea, lemon pepper with some diced up jalapeño!
Great job! What a good idea. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Doug!
Nicely done Jeff. Been a long time since I ate/cooked chicken legs. I like this butterfly cook. Money! They do look really good.
Thanks Papa!

I never thought about thighs. Happy Thanksgiving Morgan!
Just curious Morgan-do you open up the thighs with a knife or just cook them and then add sauce? Thanks!

Great instruction on the filleting the chicken legs. Oil, seasoning(SPG) and throw them on the grill(not a fan of BBQ sauce). Well done, Sir.
Thanks Jeffrey!
Trying this for sure

I hear ya!
Most restaurants up here in Ohio list wings at “market price” on their menu too. It’s insanity.
